Rev. Al Sharpton announced Saturday his official countdown to a Staten Island grand jury decision on the death of Eric Garner.

I want people to know that its not just Ferguson, its right here and we are going to watch this grand jury, Sharpton told supporters at a rally at his National Action Networks headquarters in Harlem.

The preacher led the audience in chanting Countdown! Countdown!

The grand jury has been hearing evidence for months on the case, and could soon indict police officers in Garners July 17 death. One cop was videotaped putting the sidewalk cigarette-seller in an apparent chokehold.

They have to come back within days and we are going to be prepared to continue the fight for the federal government to intervene, said Sharpton.

There is no way they should come back without indicting that police officer, said Garners mother, Gwen Carr.
