Rev. Al Sharpton spoke to the congregation at the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Eatonville, invoking Trayvon Martin and Jordan Davis as he urged members to vote in the upcoming election.

How do we answer Stand Your Ground in Florida? How do we answer our outrage over Trayvon Martin? How do we answer the things that we consider abusive and disrespectful and offensive? We go to the polls!" Sharpton said Tuesday. "They should not say, in the light of all that weve seen in Florida, that we were missing in action when we had an opportunity to do something about it.

Hedder Pierre sat in the audience as the Reverend Al Sharpton used this opportunity to ignite African Americans.

The most electrifying part was when he mentioned that you can go to the ballot box and exercise your power, said Pierre.

The question is, whether we are going to be so lethargic that we wont step up and use the 10 days [early voting], when our grandparents were just praying to get one day? Sharpton said.

Sharpton said his National Action Network is starting a statewide drive to give whatever energy they can to getting the vote out in Florida during early voting.

Weve had numbers of voters now registered that weve never had before," Sharpton said. "So, I think one of the things that Im learning that people understandyoure not back in the day no more."
