Political commentator and author Ann Coulter is set to speak Tuesday night at a private event in Mountain View, her first Bay Area appearance since a dust-up last spring over a planned speaking engagement at UC-Berkeley that never occurred.

Coulters appearance, hosted by The Liberty Forum of Silicon Valley, is being called In Trump We Trust. According to the Liberty Forums website, the talk will be areview of the most monumental, paradigm-shattering, vilified presidency in history; whats been accomplished, whats left on the table and what Americans can do to ensure the moment is not wasted.

Mountain View police are planning to assign about two dozen police officers to provide traffic assistance and safety assistance for the event, according to police spokeswoman Katie Nelson. So far, police do not know of any scheduled protests but will designate an area outside for anyone wishing to exercise their rights to free speech.

Last April, Coulter accepted an invitation by campus Republicans to speak at UC Berkeley, then was uninvited by the school because university officials said they could not guarantee the safety of the conservative pundit or anyone else in attendance. UC approved a Coulter speaking engagement for a later day, which never happened.

Coulter told the New York Times the decision to cancel her Berkeley appearance was a sad day for free speech.

The Liberty Forum event at 7 p.m., being held atthe IFES Portuguese Hall at 432 Stierlin Road, is sold out. About 600 people are expected to attend.

On its website, The Liberty Forum of Silicon Valley bills itself as the recognized conservative non-partisan umbrella organization in the Bay Area, we are the place for conservatives from Silicon Valley and beyond to gather, share ideas and become empowered.
