Ann Coulter Urges Trump to Move Forward With Border Wall …

Author and conservative commentator Ann Coulter said on "Tucker Carlson Tonight" that President Trump can move forward with his proposed border wall without Congress.

Shortly before Trump spoke at a rally in Montana, Coulter said she wishes someone would remind the president of the vast power of the executive branch to act in the interest of national security.

Coulter said the president has the money already in the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security and could spend it on the wall if decided to do so.

She said the president has the power to act to defend the homeland, arguing Congress did not sign off on U.S. missile strikes in Syria.

Trump said in an exclusive "Fox & Friends" interview that he'd be willing to shut down the government in order to obtain funding for his border wall.

"If it was up to me, I'd shut down government over border security," said Trump in a conversation at his Montana rally Thursday night, conceding that he does not want to take such action before the midterm elections.

Trump predicted there will be more Republican representation after the elections, saying he has commitments from Republican leaders Sen. Mitch McConnell and Rep. Paul Ryan to pass funding for the border wall after the midterms.

Coulter said "of course" Trump can build the border wall on his own, arguing the military can be used to defend the country's borders.

She said the wall may not be possible in a few months if Democrats make significant gains in the midterm elections. Coulter pointed out that many Trump supporters are "disappointed" at the slow pace of the wall construction.
