Al Sharptons daughter sues city for $5M after spraining …

She learned at the feet of a master.

Shakedown artist Al Sharptons eldest child wants $5 million from city taxpayers after she fell in the street and sprained her ankle, court records show.

Dominique Sharpton, 28, says she was severely injured, bruised and wounded when she stumbled over uneven pavement at the corner of Broome Street and Broadway downtown last year, according to a lawsuit.

Currently on vacation in Bali, the membership director for her gadfly dads National Action Network claims she still suffers and will continue to suffer for some time physical pain and bodily injuries, according to the suit filed against the city departments of Transportation and Environmental Protection.

I sprained my ankle real bad lol, she wrote in a post to Instagram after the Oct. 2 fall.

She was pictured in a walking boot in the weeks following the tumble, but by December, Dominique was good to go for NANs Justice for All march in Washington, DC, and for a New Years Eve jaunt to Miami Beach.

And despite claiming permanent physical pain in a breathless notice of claim, there are social-media shots of her in high heels, and another of her climbing a ladder to decorate a Christmas tree.

The legal shakedown is right out of her dads pay-to-playbook.

Al Sharpton has used threats of protests and boycotts against large companies as a way to generate huge corporate donations, his critics charge.

Everyone from McDonalds, Verizon, Macys, General Motors, Chrysler and Pfizer have forked over cash to the elder Sharpton.

Al Sharpton’s Daughter Sues NYC for $5 Million over Ankle …

The Rev. Al Sharpton's 28-year-old daughter, Dominique Sharpton, is suing New York City for $5 million over a sprained ankle she suffered while walking through a crosswalk, the New York Post reports. The October 2 fall left her "severely injured, bruised and wounded," according to court documents, and she "still suffers and will continue to suffer for some time physical pain and bodily injuries."

Sharpton suffered "internal and external injuries to the whole body, lower and upper limbs, the full extent of which are unknown, permanent pain and mental anguish," her court filing continues, and she is seeking damages for "loss of quality of life, future pain and suffering, future medical bills, [and] future diminution of income."

The Post notes that, though Sharpton was seen walking in a boot for several weeks after the accident, she can also be seen at about the same time in pictures on social media wearing high heals and climbing a ladder to put an angel on top of a Christmas tree.

She also attended a National Action Network Justice for All march in Washington, D.C., and for a New Years Eve trip to Miami Beach around the same time.

Sharpton isn't alone in her claim against the city for uneven roadways and sidewalks. New York City received 774 "defective roadway" claims in fiscal 2014, the Post reported. A photo accompanying the Post's story showed an unevenly patched crosswalk at the corner of Broome Street and Broadway, where Sharpton says her injury occurred.

The city also has had to pay $60 million in 885 claims of "defective sidewalks" over a 22-month period.

In an Instagram post just after her accident, Sharpton wrote, "I sprained my ankle real bad lol."

Sharpton works for her father's National Action Network, where she serves as membership director.

Al Sharpton was asked about the case, responding, "Shes 29 years old. Why would she have to talk to me about that? I just know that she was hurt and that she got a lawyer and shes a grown woman. [Where] she goes from there, I have no idea."

Rev. Al Sharpton thanks mayor, police chief for response …

The Rev. Al Sharpton gave a sermon Sunday in North Charleston, South Carolina, where he praised the mayor and police chief for their response to the shooting of Walter Scott after a traffic stop.

The civil rights activist appeared at Charity Missionary Baptist Church -- near where Scott was killed April 4 -- along with Mayor Keith Summey and Police Chief Eddie Driggers. Later, Sharpton led a vigil before a small crowd in the grassy, fenced-in area where Scott, 50, died.

In a phone interview with Newsday after the vigil, Sharpton said the shooting of blacks by white officers has always happened. But cellphone video now allows the public to witness such encounters, he said.

"We've been reporting this for years," Sharpton said Sunday evening, minutes before boarding a flight back to New York. But police officers "weren't paying a price," he said.

"That's why [North] Charleston is so important, because they see an officer going to jail and not walking away from prosecution." He added, "This isn't going to stop until they [officers] know" jail is possible.

Sharpton said he met with Scott's family Sunday, but did not disclose details. He repeated his call for mandatory police body cameras.

Scott was killed by former Officer Michael Slager, who initially said Scott was shot after a tussle over his Taser. But witness video later surfaced showing Scott being shot as he ran away, prompting officials to fire Slager and charge him with murder.

Such prosecution by a police officer like Slager, who remains in custody, for shooting a black person rarely happens in the Deep South, Sharpton said.

There is lingering skepticism about whether Scott's death would have been thoroughly probed without the witness video.

"The mayor and the chief, they did what they had to do because none of us are blind," Keith White, 60, of North Charleston, said before the church service. "Everyone saw the video and they did what they were forced to do once that video became public."
