NY GOP poster shows de Blasio, Sharpton as ’50 Shades …

State Republicans are fit to be tied over Bill de Blasios close relationship with Al Sharpton and they want the mayor punished.

In a steamy send-up of the racy Fifty Shades of Grey movie, the GOP released a poster Tuesday that compared the mayor to the flicks submissive heroine and made Sharpton his dominant.

Tied up by his habitual lateness. Dominated by the duties of his office. Handcuffed by his poor management of the NYPD, the parody poster said, under the title Fifty Shades of Bill.

In the spoof, Sharpton sports a daringly bouffant hairstyle and a direct stare as Christian Grey, a twentysomething billionaire with a taste for pain.

The mayor, as Anastasia, has his face superimposed over the lead actress photo.

The posters pose means de Blasios head drapes dramatically and submissively across Sharptons shoulder.

A Working Families Party Production, the posters fine print said.

Directed by Al Sharpton.

The Los Angeles chapter of the activist organization National Action Network, which was founded by the Reverend Al Sharpton back in 1991, made the announcement today that it plans to hold a protest focused around the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science's lack of diversity, just outside where the awards ceremony is going to be held in Hollywood.

According to a report on Deadline Hollywood, Sharpton will not be in attendance but he has, in the words of LA NAA Political Director Najee Ali, "given his blessing."

The protest, which is scheduled to begin around 2pm PST -- three hours before the start of the ceremony -- is in response to an assortment of diversity-related issues that have placed Hollywood at the center of public scrutiny over the past few months.

The notable omission of Ava DuVernay and David Oyelowo from this year's nominations, however, are just the tip of the iceberg for the protesters. In an additional statement, Ali (as quoted by Deadline) said: "While our coalition of civil rights leaders questioned the obvious omissions of director Ava DuVernay and actor David Oyelowo from the critically acclaimed civil rights drama Selma, our protest and concerns isn't just about them. The issue of the lack of racial diversity is the larger issue that Hollywood must face and confront head on. That's why our protest of this years Oscars ceremony is designed to be a wake-up call for the entire industry."

Given extensive street closures around the Hollywood and Highland center, where the Dolby Theatre is located, the exact location of the protest -- and its proximity to the red carpet and theatre -- has yet to be determined.

Al Sharpton Hosts His ‘SNL’ Doppelganger Kenan Thompson on …

LAS VEGAS, NV - JANUARY 07: 'Saturday Night Live' cast members Cecily Strong (L) and Kenan Thompson as the Rev. Al Sharpton perform during a keynote address by Yahoo! Tell-it-like-it-is Rev. Al Sharpton may be one of the most easily imitated personalities on TV, and if you havent seen Kenan Thompsons spot-on impression of him on "Saturday Night Live," youre missing out.

The civil rights leader and activist hosted his SNL doppelganger on MSNBC's "PoliticsNation" last night, asking the comedian whether he worries about running into figures hes impersonated.

"We're cool; I mean we know each other for over 12 years or so, Sharpton said. But do you ever worry about mocking people if you have to see them?

I was really worried about running into Star Jones back in the day, Thompson responded. Shes a larger lady, so I didnt want to have any problems with her back then.

Sharpton, who lost over half his body weight through diet and exercise in 2014, also suggested Thompson needed to trim down to perfect his impression.

The "PoliticsNation" host said he found the impersonation flattering.

People ask me and I think its nothing but fun, Sharpton said.

Republicans Bash Bill de Blasio With 50 Shades of Grey Spoof

State Republicans have a post-Valentines Day message for Mayor Bill de Blasio: laters, baby.

The State GOP todaymocked Mr. de Blasios relationship with Rev. Al Sharpton by comparing the Democratic mayor to the heroine of the raunchy film 50 Shades of Grey and Mr. Sharpton to her kinky billionaire lover. In a not-so-subtly photoshopped parody poster, Mr. de Blasio is shown leaning submissively against the shoulder of Mr. Sharpton, one of his closest allies.

Tied up by his habitual tardiness. Dominated by the duties of his office. Handcuffed by his poor management of the NYPD, the poster reads, alluding to controversies Mr. de Blasio has faced while in office and the smutty themes of 50 Shades of Grey.

Mr. de Blasio may not have the singular tastes of Christian Grey, the business mogul in the film who leads college student Anastasia Steele on a peculiar sexual odyssey, nor does he reside in the state ofWashington, where the movie and best-selling book are set. But conservatives have long mocked the progressive for being in the thrall of Mr. Sharpton and the labor-backed Working Families Party, which the parody poster also mentions.

The parallels between the heroine of Americas hottest movie and New Yorks Mayor are striking: both have completely ceded control over their situation to outside forces, and the results are difficult to watch, said David Laska, a spokesman for the State GOP.

Though panned by many critics, the film was a box office success over theweekend.

This is not the first time the State Republican Party, led by Ed Cox, has poked fun at Mr. de Blasio. When the de Blasio administration announced last year that then-Chief of Staff Laura Santucci was taking a leave of absence to head the citys campaign to bring the Democratic National Convention to Brooklyn, Mr. Laska compared the mayor to Mr. Bean, a bumbling British television character.

Bill de Blasio has been the Mr. Bean of New York City politics, stumbling and bumbling his way from one disaster to the next, Mr. Laska said last October. (Philadelphia beat out Brooklyn last week to host the 2016 convention.)

Kirsten John Foy, a director with Mr. Sharptons National Action Network, called the parody junk.

The New York State Republican Party owes Rev. Al Sharpton and communities of color, particularly the African-American community, the LGBTQ community and the mayor an apology, and they need to immediately sever ties with whoever is responsible for this junk, Mr. Foy said.
