Rev. Sharpton to preach in St. Louis, calls on churches to pray for justice
FERGUSON, MO (KTVI)- Rev. Al Sharpton will be in St. Louis Sunday to preach at Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church, the church where Michael Brown, Jr.s funeral was held. Browns parents, Michael Brown, Sr. and Lesley McSpadden, will attend.
Sharpton will then go to Brown Sr.s home church in Ferguson, The Flood Christian Church, which was burned along with many other buildings following the grand jurys indictment announcement Monday. He will help kick off fundraising to rebuild the church.
On Saturday, Sharpton spoke via conference call with over 150 ministers from around the country, who have pledged to pause during their Sunday services to pray for justice and peace.
The service at Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church will be held at 11:00am. Sharpton will also speak at The Flood Christian Church around 1:30pm. The pastor of that church, Rev. Carlton Lee, is also also the President of the Ferguson chapter of National Action Network.
