Ann Coulter’s New Book, ‘In Trump We Trust,’ Comes Out Right …

Donald Trump has just betrayed Ann Coulter. Which is a dangerous thing to do.

This week, Coulter released her new book, In Trump We Trust. As the title suggests, its a defense of Trump. But more than that, its a defense of Trumpism. Most Trump surrogates contort themselves to defend whatever The Donald says, no matter its ideological content. Theyre like communist party functionaries. They get word from the ideologists on high, and regurgitate it as best they can.

There's Simply No Equivalence

Coulter is different. Shes an ideologist herself. She realized the potency of the immigration issue among conservatives before Trump did. On June 1 of last year, she released Adios America, which devotes six chapters to the subject of immigrants and rape. Two weeks later, Trumphaving received an advanced copyfamously picked up the thread in his announcement speech.

Since then, theyve been allies. But unlike many Trump defenders, Coulter makes clear that her primary allegiance is not to Trump the man. Its to the nostalgic Make America White Again brand of conservatism that she began peddling even before he did. In In Trump We Trust, Coulter calls Trump a tasteless, publicity-seeking, coarse billionaire and argues that, the one thing voters werent wild about was his personality.

The secret of Trumps success, she argues, has been ideological. He recognized that Americans, by which she mostly means Republicans, are homesick. They dont just oppose immigration because they believe it depresses wages and strains government services. Theyre homesick for a whiter America, an America that was once truly free because its not in the Anglo-Saxon character either to take orders or to give them. (Never mind about slavery.) Since 1965, however, when Lyndon Johnson signed legislation allowing more immigration from Latin America, Asia, and Africa, the United States has been, according to Coulter in In Trump We Trust, overrun by illiterate peasants who can be instructed to learn certain symbols and bloc-vote for the Democrats. In response, Democrats, along with rich Republicans, keep the doors open to non-European immigration, and thus America has grown browner and shorter. (Thats Coulters description from Adios America). Corruption rises. So does terrorism and rape.

Coulters ideological interpretation of Trumps appeal is plausible. It explains, for instance, why support for Trump correlates more strongly to racial resentment than economic misfortune.

Trump may win votes by moderating his stance on immigration. But thats not how Coulter sells books.

Coulters problem is that on the very week shes unveiled her immigration-themed defense of Trumpism, Trump himself has begun jettisoning it. On Wednesday night, he admitted that its very, very hard to deport all the undocumented immigrants in the country and implied that he would be open to some people being allowed to stay legally without becoming citizens, provided they pay back taxes. Suddenly, Trump is flirting with an immigration policy that resembles that of every other Republican who ran for president. Which makes Coulter look like a dupe. On Thursday on his show, Rush Limbaugh had a hearty laugh at her expense.

So far, Coulter has responded in contradictory ways. Shes fired off tweets attacking Trumps immigration shift. But shes also downplayed it.

Maybe Coulter, like the other high-profile supporters Trump has burned, will accept her humiliation and resort to defending Trump no matter what he says. Her incentives, however, are different. Unlike most of the folks who appear on television supporting Trump, she has an independent brand. And its built on white nationalism. Trump may win votes by moderating his stance on immigration. But thats not how Coulter sells books.

Coulter also needs an explanation for Trumps likely defeat, an explanation that will preserve her ability to claim that Americas silent majority believes the things she does. By emphasizing Trumps immigration flip-flop, Coulter could argue that this issue cost him the white votes he needed to win.

Trumpisma brand of conservatism defined above all by white racial nostalgiawill survive Novembers election. Less clear is whether Trump will remain its champion or become its fall guy. Like many people Trump has done business with, Coulter has learned that trusting Trump is not the wisest of investments.

Ann Coulter Is Singled Out And Mercilessly Destroyed At Rob …

On Saturday night, Comedy Central taped the Roast of Rob Lowe, and even though the actor experienced the brunt of the burns, Ann Coulter was targeted with some of the most brutal.

SNLs Pete Davidson went as far as referring to Coulter as a racist c**t, and comedian Jimmy Carr did not hold back, calling Coulter one of most repugnant, hateful, hatchet-face bitches alive.

Its not too late to change, Ann, said Carr. You could kill yourself!

Ouch!

Here are just a few of the other gems from the night:

If you are here, Ann, who is scaring the crows away from our crops? Pete Davidson of SNL

Ann, youre awful. The only person you will ever make happy is the Mexican who digs your grave. Comedian Nikki Glaser

She seems stiff and conservative, but Ann gets wild in the sheets. Just ask the Klan. Comedian David Spade

I do want to say as a feminist that I cant support everything thats been said tonight. But as someone who hates Ann Coulter, Im delighted. Singer/songwriter Jewel

I just realized that Im not the only athlete up here tonight. As you all know, earlier this year Ann Coulter won the Kentucky Derby. Former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning

Ann Coulter wants to help Trump make America great again. You can start by wearing a burka. Comedian Jeff Ross

She obviously knew this was going to happen, but that probably didnt make it any less enjoyable to watch.

Coulter was reportedly booed when trying to promote her new book and stumbled when the teleprompter apparently stopped working.

All in all, this sounds like its going to make for some magical TV viewing come air time.

Ann Coulter: Rob Lowe roast hijacked by pundit | EW.com

It was supposed to be a Comedy Central roast of Rob Lowe but that was before everyone found out that Ann Coulter was joining the dais Saturday. As a result, most of the nights best jokeswere directed at the conservative commentator, not the 52-year-old man-of-honor who looked rather neglected in his center stage chair.

Even Coulter couldnt help but call out the irony during the pre-taped event thatll air on Labor Day: I want to welcome everybody to the Ann Coulter roast with Rob Lowe.

Held on the Sony lot outside of Hollywood Saturday, the Lowe roast featured first-time participants like Peyton Manning, Jewel, Nikki Glaser, and Ralph Macchio, who (predictably) made fun of Lowes old sex tape and his myriad TV failures. But everyone Jeffrey Ross, Pete Davidson, British comedian Jimmy Carr, Rob Riggle and roastmaster David Spade, included saved their most viciously funny material for Coulter, who actually bombed when she finally took the mic (just to flash her latest book). Not that it mattered, really; she already got the spotlight.

Everyone is asking, why is Ann Coulter here tonight? said Lowe, who closed out his own special with a incredible set of killer yuks. Because the right-to-lifers wanted everyone to see what abortion looks like up close.

Oh, there were lots more Coulter cutdowns. Here are some of the best Coulter jokes and 13 about everybody else (even Lowe himself).

The Comedy Central Roast of Rob Lowe will air at 10 p.m. ET on Labor Day.

Coulter Goes to War with Trump And It Is Glorious

Liberals may die tonight because there are limited supplies of those injections they give you for acute schadenfreude toxicity. Ann Coulter has been Donald Trump's biggest New York City white nationalist supporter. She's transformed toadying into a militant act. Just today her new book In Trump We Trust was released, a genuflecting, tour de force of leader principle obsequiousness. As many have noted, in the book itself she writes that Trump can do anything, change his position on anything - none of it matters. She and they are that devoted. Everything except shift on immigration.

So today, the very day her book comes out he shambles his way to embracing the Rubio/Bush 'Amnesty' agenda he spent the last year railing against and using as a cudgel to destroy the Republican establishment's favored ones. She even had an opening book party hosted by Breitbart.

Already at the book party, photos snapped by Twitters journos showed a sad visage and perhaps a growing thunder ...

Here's the book ...

I've been waiting all evening to see whether she's muscle through at least the first day of the book tour without acknowledging Trump had dumped her whole agenda. It seems not. She just kicked off an epic rant on twitter.

It seems Coulter will be the Dylan Thomas of Trump Dignity Wraiths. She won't go gently in that good night.

Ann Coulter Criticizes Donald Trump’s Immigration Plan …

Ann Coulter did not hold back when talking about Roger Ailes on this weeks episode of Powerhouse Politics podcast.

Coulter, who this week published her book, In Trump We Trust, blasted the former CEO of Fox News, who she suspects might be behind Trumps latest immigration plan.

[Trump] seems to be getting contradictory advice. Ive seen these rumors hes now being advised by Roger Ailes, the former head of the Marco Rubio super PAC known as Fox News. Suddenly hes sounding like Rubio, said Coulter.

He was using all the clichs from the Gang of Eight bill, she continued. I dont know who hes getting it from, but the idea that his base is not going to mind is nonsense. And the idea that it helps him with anyone is nonsense.

Speaking with ABC News Chief White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl and ABC News Political Director Rick Klein, Coulter explained her frustration with the latest shifts in Trumps immigration plan.

I am trying to encourage Donald Trump to dump whomever the moron is who told him Americans are staying up at night worried about how people who broke our laws entering, broke our laws staying here, broke our laws taking jobs, how comfortable they are, Coulter said.

We have to take care of Americans first. And thats what [Trump] should be saying, not going back and saying one thing in his speech and then using the crazy Gang of Eight nonsense when hes talking to [Fox News host Sean] Hannity, she explained. Maybe its just something in the air at Fox News?

In response to whether she heard Ailes voice in Trumps new immigration plan, Coulter admitted, I never believed it. I thought it was all nonsense you mainstream media reporters were sending out until that stupid talking point. But I dont know who it is. I want to find out who it is and make sure that person is never allowed in the same room with Donald Trump.

Despite her criticisms of the Republican nominee, Coulter remains a loyal Trump supporter. I can criticize my guy and still support him, Coulter said. Since the convention, since his speech at the convention, he has not made any mistakes until now.

The media just makes stuff up, reinterprets his words, doesnt show people what he says, lies about him, she added. Hes been magnificent in every speech since the convention. And I think he should just keep doing that.

Also joining this weeks Powerhouse Politics podcast are political consultant Peter Schweizer and Republican television personality Montel Williams.

Schweizer discussed his new book, Clinton Cash, in which he follows the money to see if theres a causal relationship between Clinton Foundation donors and access to the secretary of state.

Meanwhile, Williams admitted that he will be voting for Hillary Clinton in the upcoming election after having supported John Kasich in the Republican primary. The longtime conservative Republican criticized Trumps recent outreach to African-American voters, which he described as a false invitation.
