Ann Coulter: Small-town Christians have more courage than GOP leaders

Columnist Ann Coulter said on the OReilly Factor that the media firestorm over Memories Pizza in Indiana shows that small-town owners of pizzerias have more Christian courage than most Christian leaders and certainly the Republican Party.

Following Indianas passage of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, the OConnor family in Walkerton, Indiana, said it would not cater gay weddings. The small business owners were forced to close down because of online vitriol and threats of violence.

Ms. Coulter said Republican leaders were falling like toy soldiers in attempts to win praise from The New York Times and other liberal commentators.

Where are the Christians and where are the Republicans? Im glad this Mike Pence isnt running for president. Theyre falling like toy soldiers, Ms. Coulter told Mr. OReilly, Mediaite reported Thursday.

The Fox host then said roughly 80 percent of Americans identify with Christianity, and the 2016 Republican Party nominee for president will need to stick up for individuals of faith.

The most important thing in your life and eternity is already taken care of. Go out and fight, Ms. Coulter said.

Ann Coulters deranged Indiana freakout: Blasts Christians who would rather change bedpans of Ebola patients than …

On Thursday evenings edition of The OReilly Factor, host Bill OReilly and Ann Coulter had a conversation that was essentially one of those reverb loops that happens when you put a cellphone near a speaker or an idiot near another idiot.

OReilly wanted to discuss the war on Christianity, (a made-up thing) that was apparent when an Indiana pizza place refused to serve gay couples, which prompted national outcry.

Its Christianity that the left hates most of all because that is the foundation of our country and all of our freedoms come from that, Coulter said. The rest of the world is a cesspool of violence and atrocities. This is the most consequential nation on Earth and the fact that these Christians would rather get praise from the New York Times and Nicholas Kristof by changing bedpans of Ebola patients in Nigeria, rather than stand up to the New York Times and fight against abortion and fight against these bullies, and I dont think its gay bullies, I think its as you call them, secular progressives or liberals. The media, theyre the ones who are trying to tear down this country by going directly at the heart of America which is Christianity.

She continued: The small town owners of pizzeria have more Christian courage than most Christian leaders and certainly the Republican party.

And she is so right. As it says in the Gospel of Luke, Thou shalt not serve pizza, the stupidest food, at a gay wedding.

To Bill O'Reilly and Ann Coulter: Thank You for Calling On Christian Leaders, We're Right Here!

Michael Brown holds a Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages and Literatures from New York University and has served as a professor at a number of seminaries. He is the author of 25 books and hosts the nationally syndicated, daily talk radio show, the Line of Fire.

Dear Bill and Ann,

I deeply appreciate both of you calling out Christian leaders in recent days, challenging our courage and our willingness to stand for what is right. I too have been grieved over the moral capitulation of so many professing Christians, from pastors to politicians and from congregants to congressmen.

In fact, I posted this on my Facebookpage just this morning:

I am so deeply grieved over what I have witnessed this week in Indiana, Arkansas, and Georgia, as governors and legislators suddenly caved the moment the threats and shouts came their way. Where are the men and women of moral principle and courage? Where are those who will stand up for what is right because it is right? The words of Dr. King call out to us again today:

"Cowardice asks the question, is it safe? Expediency asks the question, is it politic? Vanity asks the question, is it popular? But conscience asks the question, is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular; but one must take it because it is right."

Oh for God's people to awake to righteousness! Oh for God to raise up leaders with courage and conviction! Oh for men and women with backbones of steel and hearts of compassion! Pray that you and I would be among them, to the glory of Jesus' name and for the sake of this dying world.

You can readily see how much my heart beats with yours in calling for Christian leaders to stand and be counted, regardless of cost or consequence.

But that's not the main reason for this open letter. Instead, I want to bring to your attention that there are thousands of solid Christian leaders who are taking a stand, who are making their voices heard, who are speaking "the truth in love" (to use Paul's words), refusing to capitulate to culture and refusing to bow down to the gods of this age.

Kentucky Gov.: Same-sex marriage ban isnt discriminatory since it also applies to straight people

A fun thing happens when states go to the Supreme Court to defend their bans on same-sex marriage: We get to see the mostly convoluted explanations for why two people who love each other shouldnt be allowed to wed, and it usually involves some impressive logical gymnastics. Last week, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee and Kentucky filed briefs responding to the same-sex couples, widowers and families who are challenging their marriage equality bans, offering arguments in favor of same-sex marriage restrictions and Kentuckys is pretty good.

In a brief for Gov. Steve Beshear, Kentucky attorneys argue the states ban on same-sex marriage isnt discriminatory, because its a ban on same-sex marriage not gay marriage:

Kentuckys marriage laws treat homosexuals and heterosexuals the same and are facially neutral. Men and women, whether heterosexual or homosexual, are free to marry persons of the opposite sex under Kentucky law, and men and women, whether heterosexual or homosexual, cannot marry persons of the same sex under Kentucky law.

Hmmm. You know what this reminds me of? That one time Ann Coulter basically made the same argument, only flipped the other way around. When Fox Business host John Stossel asked Coulter why gays cant get married, the conservative pundit contradicted the assumption that they cant. Well they can, Coulter said. They have to marry a member of the opposite sex.

She was then loudly booed. Guess well just have to see what happens with Kentuckys argument.
