POLITICS: Potential White House hopefuls to headline Riverside event

Three potential contenders for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016 are expected to be in Riverside next month for a gathering of Inland conservative activists.
Former GOP Senate candidate Carly Fiorina, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry will headline the Unite IE Conservative Conference on Feb. 21 at the Fox Performing Arts Center, according to organizers.
Perry, who served as Texas governor from 2010 to 2015, ran for the GOP nomination in 2012.
He is rumored to be interested in another bid, but he may be hurt by his indictment last year on abuse of power charges stemming from allegations he forced a Democratic district attorney convicted of drunken driving to resign by threatening to veto funding. Perry has said the charges are politically motivated.
Jindal, a former congressman, has been Louisianas governor since 2008. Fiorina, a former CEO of Hewlett Packard, ran unsuccessfully against U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., in 2010.
Unite IE is a coalition of roughly two dozen conservative groups in Riverside and San Bernardino counties. An estimated 600 people attended the first conference last year and more are expected for next months event, which has a theme of Bringing the Conservative Wave to California.
Last years conference was headlined by conservative commentator Ann Coulter and featured an appearance by then-GOP gubernatorial candidate and Inland Assemblyman Tim Donnelly.
