Anonymous New York Times op-ed: Ann Coulter suspects Jared …

It's a true whodunit case to find the author of the critical op-ed piece in the New York Times regarding the Trump White House. USA TODAY

WASHINGTON Controversial right-wing firebrand Ann Coulter thinks she knows who was behind the anonymous op-ed from a purported senior White House official that landed in The New York Times last week: Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump's trusted son-in-law.

Why would Ivanka Trump's husband and the father of presidential grandkids do such a thing?

"Because he and Ivanka are goingto have to go back to the Upper East Side and go to the Hamptons," Coulter told the Daily Beastin an interview published Thursday. "Theyre probably worried that Trump will be removed within the next few years."

She noted the timingof the op-ed, whichran after the couple went to the funeral for Sen. John McCain. It also was "right after Labor Day, so they were probably feeling wistful for the Hamptons. And the only way they can get back in is if they can say, 'Dont worry, were the ones who stopped the wall.' "

Apparently,no fan of the president's son-in-law, Coulter's new book, "Resistance Is Futile! How the Trump-Hating Left Lost Its Collective Mind," includes a hypothetical scenario where Trump has Kushner shot.

"I dont particularly want to attack Jared, but, OK, there was 'Fire Jim Comey, its a great idea.' There was Endorse Luther Strange, itll be a great idea.' There was 'Lets start with tax cuts, because thats what Mitch McConnell wants.' There was 'Lets hire Anthony Scaramucci hes fantastic, Pops!' " she told the Daily Beast.

Coulter is far from the first commentator to offer unsubstantiated speculation about who might be behind the op-ed.

Former Trump adviser Omarosa Maginault Newman has speculated that Vice President Mike Pence or someone in his office was the author, an accusation Pence has vehemently denied.

Trump himself has said"nobody knows who the hell he is, or she" who wrote about a "resistance" inside the White House that works to protect the country from Trump's worst impulses.

The presidenthas asked the Justice Department to look into the matter.

Ann Coulter, with a ring toss: Jared Kushner wrote New York …

ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Ann Coulter, conservative columnist, said in a recent interview with the Daily Beast that Jared Kushner, son-in-law to Donald Trump, is the one who penned the anonymously published presidential hatchet job in The New York Times.

Its a bit of a stretch. A bit of a ring toss.

But then again, a few years ago, it would have been considered a bit of a stretch for a paper of The New York Times esteem to publish an op-ed aimed at calming the anti-Trumpers of the country by assuring of a Deep State-like presence within the White House, actively working to counter the presidents agenda in a cowardly, anonymous manner, that is.

The times have changed.

Yet the problem with pieces penned and published by unnamed, supposedly high-placed, senior administration insider sources persist and its a problem that basically goes like this: Nobody really knows.

Nobody really knows what to believe, whom to believe, or whether theres anything worthwhile to believe in the first place.

Heck, the latest whispers are The New York Times editorial board itself penned the op-ed, and attributed it deceitfully to an administration official. So Coulters theory?

Why not.

Add one one more guess to this list of mystery and intrigue.

Because he and Ivanka are going to have to go back to the Upper East Side and go to the Hamptons, Coultersaid to the Daily Beast, when apparently asked why Kushner may have written the op-ed.

She went on: Theyre probably worried that Trump will be removed within the next few years. They had just gone to the McCain funeral and [the op-ed came out] right after Labor Day, so they were probably feeling wistful for the Hamptons. And the only way they can get back in is if they can say, Dont worry, were the ones who stopped the wall.

OK. Its a bit of food for fodder; its a thought.

Then again, Coulters not exactly a Kushner fan anyway.

If Trump realized that Jared Kushner was ruining his presidency and shot him, she wrote in her recent book, Resistance Is Futile! The Hill cited, and then he fired the U.S. attorney investigating the crime, that would be a textbook case of obstruction of justice. But Trump hasnt shot Kushner, and he probably wont since he doesnt even realize that Kushner is wrecking his presidency.

Interesting stuff.

The stuff of media cycling and recycling.

But in the end, Coulter like the rest is just guessing. And all this guessing is just that. It really doesnt get us any closer to knowing the identity of the coward whos rapidly becoming the most famous individual in modern political times.

Ann Coulter Urges Trump to Move Forward With Border Wall …

Author and conservative commentator Ann Coulter said on "Tucker Carlson Tonight" that President Trump can move forward with his proposed border wall without Congress.

Shortly before Trump spoke at a rally in Montana, Coulter said she wishes someone would remind the president of the vast power of the executive branch to act in the interest of national security.

Coulter said the president has the money already in the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security and could spend it on the wall if decided to do so.

She said the president has the power to act to defend the homeland, arguing Congress did not sign off on U.S. missile strikes in Syria.

Trump said in an exclusive "Fox & Friends" interview that he'd be willing to shut down the government in order to obtain funding for his border wall.

"If it was up to me, I'd shut down government over border security," said Trump in a conversation at his Montana rally Thursday night, conceding that he does not want to take such action before the midterm elections.

Trump predicted there will be more Republican representation after the elections, saying he has commitments from Republican leaders Sen. Mitch McConnell and Rep. Paul Ryan to pass funding for the border wall after the midterms.

Coulter said "of course" Trump can build the border wall on his own, arguing the military can be used to defend the country's borders.

She said the wall may not be possible in a few months if Democrats make significant gains in the midterm elections. Coulter pointed out that many Trump supporters are "disappointed" at the slow pace of the wall construction.

Abolish ICE? Ann Coulter Wants To Disband The FBI

9:57 PM 07/18/2018

garth kant | Contributor

Ann Coulter is calling for the abolition of the FBI.

While many on the left have called for the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the conservative columnist and bestselling author asserted it was the nations top law enforcement agency that is beyond repair.

Its time to disband the FBI. This is not J. Edgar Hoovers FBI, which was so good that liberals are still hysterical over it, Coultersaid Tuesday on Howie Carrs syndicated radio show.

My father was in the bureau for a few years after law school, she noted. You not only had to be a lawyer back then in order to be an FBI agent It wasnt strictly policy but J. Edgar Hoover, and, of course they were all men, generally preferred Catholics and Mormons on the grounds that were incorruptible. They were very, very honest and you could trust them.

And you didnt really have a lot of trouble under Hoover. We were actually having an enemy in Russia then, she added.

Im pretty sure Strzok is a Catholic, supposedly, but theyre not making Catholics like Pat OBrien anymore, Carr said.

He was referring to the affair between FBI counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok and FBI attorney Lisa Page, who are married to other people and who were both on the special counsels Russia investigation.

They were dismissed from the investigation after their anti-Trump texts became public, including ones in which Strzok called the president a disaster, abysmal, and an idiot. He also assured Page before the 2016 election that Trump would never become president, texting, No. No he wont. Well stop it.

Strzok insistedduring testimony before Congress last week, I did not think that bias was expressed in those text messages.

However, after Page met with lawmakers behind closed doors for a second time, Rep. John Ratcliff, R-Texas, told reporterson Monday, In many cases, she admits that the text messages mean exactly what they say, as opposed to Agent Strzok, who thinks that weve all misinterpreted his own words on any text message that might be negative.

During Tuesdays radio interview, Carr asked Coulter if FBI agents shouldnt be discouraged from acts that could expose them to blackmail, Like having an affair with a co-worker?

Oh my gosh, J. Edgar Hoover never would have allowed that. Never, never, never, she replied, then laughed loud and long.

Coulter was promoting her new book which she said is called Resistance is Futile: How The Trump-Hating Left Lost Its Collective Mind, and will be released on Aug. 21.
