Ann Coulter torches Trump for immigration meeting | TheHill

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter blasted President TrumpDonald John TrumpHouse Democrat slams Donald Trump Jr. for serious case of amnesia after testimony Skier Lindsey Vonn: I dont want to represent Trump at Olympics Poll: 4 in 10 Republicans think senior Trump advisers had improper dealings with Russia MORE on Wednesday, accusing him of "selling out his base" in a meeting with lawmakers in which he appeared to endorse a deal that would grant millions of immigrants living in the U.S. illegally a pathway to citizenship.

In a post on her website, Coulter suggested that the Tuesday meeting with Democratic and Republican lawmakers was the "lowest moment of the Trump presidency," and that the president appeared on the path to endorsing an unending amnesty for certain immigrants.

She also wrote that Trump's plan for the meeting "to prove he doesn't have dementia" ultimately backfired and that he verified claims put forward in a recent book, "Fire and Fury" by Michael Wolff, that he was not mentally fit to hold office.

"Trump was more than willing to sell out the base to solve a personal problem of his the Michael Wolff book but managed to not convince a single American that he's articulate, bright or a good leader," Coulter wrote.

Coulter's scathing comments came after Trump suggested that he would "sign whatever immigration bill" lawmakers send him and that he is willing to compromise with Democrats on border security measures that he has said must be included in a legislative effort to codify the protections of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

Coulter, a vehement critic of illegal immigration, was a vocal supporter of Trump's presidential campaign when he vowed to take a hard line on immigration enforcement.

Facing criticism from conservatives, Trump reaffirmed on Wednesday his position that any deal on DACA would have to include funding for his proposed border wall between the U.S. and Mexico.

"The United States needs the security of the Wall on the Southern Border, which must be part of any DACA approval. The safety and security of our country is #1!" Trump tweeted.

Ann Coulter Gets ROASTED On Twitter For Her Ridiculous …

It isn't unusual for Ann Coulter to spew nonsense on Twitter.

However, the internet viciously turned on the conservative pundit after she seemingly tried to defend Alabama senatorial candidate Roy Moore by bringing up a totally unrelated sex scandal involving John F. Kennedy. We wish we were kidding.

Related: The WORST GOP Responses To The Roy Moore Sex Scandal!

As we previously reported, the controversial GOP candidate has been accused of sexual misconduct as he allegedly initiated a sexual encounter with a woman, named Leigh Corfman, back when she was only 14. Three other women have detailed similar encounters with Moore, all occurring "when they were between the ages of 16 and 18 and he was in his early 30s."

In an attempt to distract from this scandal, Coulter brought up an allegation where a 49-year-old JFK seduced a 19-year-old White House intern, named Mimi Alford. Ann wrote:

Hey Dems! JFK had an extra marital affair with 19-year old Mimi Alford when he was 45 years old. https://t.co/E5l3ncflDG Ann Coulter (@AnnCoulter) November 13, 2017

We're not sure how this is a "gotcha" moment. While an affair is certainly scandalous, the politician in question is long dead and not currently in a position of power. Not to mention, the tweet suggests that being outraged about sexual misconduct is a partisan issue.

Thankfully, Twitter has since clapped back at Coulter's beyond ridiculous defense. Be sure to see the best reactions for yourself (below).

Ann Coulter: If Kamala Harris runs in 2020, she will be the …

Conservative commentator and author Ann Coulter says that if Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., announces a bid for the Democratic nomination in the 2020 presidential election, she will become the nominee.

"I say if Kamala Harris runs, she is the Democratic nominee," Coulter said during a speech Thursday evening, as quoted by Breitbart News TV editor Jeff Poor. Coulter was the featured guest speaker at the Walton County Republican Executive Committee's annual Lincoln Day Dinner in Miramar Beach, Fla.

Harris, a former attorney general of California, has long been rumored to be considering a 2020 run, but publicly has shied away from that kind of talk.

Speculation has heated up as the former California attorney general has done some fundraising, including in the Hamptons in July. Harris is expected to visit Florida, a key battleground state, in November to help raise money for fellow Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson.

Some fellow Democrats have also said they expect Harris to run.

"She's going to be knocking on doors in Iowa," said former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa in a recent interview.

Ann Coulter: Media Begging Us for Conspiracy Theories on Las …

The media are either doing PR for the gambling industry or they dont want anyone considering the possibility that Paddock was using gambling to launder money.

NBC News reports, with a straight face: Las Vegas gunman earned millions as a gambler. A Los Angeles Times article is headlined, In the solitary world of video poker, Stephen Paddock knew how to win. The story says that Paddocks gambling was at least a steady income over a period of years.

I dont know all the ins and outs of Paddocks life, but thats a lie.

How do reporters imagine casino owners make a living? Any ideas on how all those glorious lobbies, lights, pools, and fountains are paid for? How do they think Sheldon Adelson and Steve Wynn became billionaires if gambling is a winning proposition for people like Paddock and therefore, by definition, a losing proposition for the casinos?

The media think about money the way Democrats do. They have absolutely no conception of where it originates. Those casino owners sure are generous!reporters think to themselves. Economist Thomas Sowell is always ridiculing journalists for not understanding basic economics. It turns out, they dont understand the spreadsheet of a lemonade stand.

The New York Times explained that the top video poker machines pay out 99.17 percent. Thats great that Paddock was only losing cents on the dollar (if true), but its stilllosing. The Times quickly explained that he could have more than made up his losses with all the comps the free rooms, meals and 50-year-old port that costs $500 a glass, as his brother Eric said.

Gamblers who are beating the house are not given $500 glasses of port. Refer to the profit/loss spreadsheet. And yet, according to his brother, Paddock was treated like royalty by the casinos. Which means he was losing.

Apart from outright theft, the only way to have an advantage over the casino is by card-counting. Thats not cheating and it doesnt guarantee a win. It merely allows the gambler to make a more educated guess as each card is played, thereby tilting the odds ever so slightly in his favor. Still, if the casinos suspect a customer is counting cards, he will be promptly escorted off the premises.

And counting cards only helps with blackjack. Paddocks game of choice was VIDEO POKER. Thats a computer! Its programmed to ensure the house wins. Not all the time, but at least often enough to make casino owners multibillionaires. Anyone who plays video poker over an extended period of time will absolutely, 100 percent, by basic logic, end up a net loser.

So why are the media insistent that Paddock was getting rich by playing video poker?

I dont know what happened and, apparently, neither do the cops but its kind of odd that we keep being told things that arent true about the Las Vegas massacre, from the basic timeline to this weird insistence that Paddock made a good living at gambling.

The most likely explanation is that the reporters and investigators are incompetent nitwits. But the changing facts from law enforcement and preposterous lies from the press arent doing a lot to tamp down alternative theories of the crime.

Among the questions not being asked by our wildly incurious media:

Why would Paddock unload 200 rounds into the hallway at a security guard who was checking on someone elses roombeforebeginning his massacre?

How can it possibly take eight days to figure out when the alleged shooter checked into the hotel?

Why was Paddock wearing gloves if he was about to commit suicide?

Have any other solitary mass shooters ever had girlfriends?

If Paddock wasnt making money on video poker and he wasnt why would he be cycling millions of dollars through a casino, turning every dollar into, at best, 99 cents?

Maybe Paddock enjoyed video poker. But if the allegedly serious media are going to keep telling us he was making a living doing it, theyre just begging us to say that losing a percent or two on millions of dollars doesnt make sense as an investment strategy, but it does make sense as a money laundering operation.

And the probable illicit business requiring money to be laundered that leaps out at us in Paddocks case is illegal gun sales. If true, it would not only explain the arsenal in his hotel room, but also raises the possibility of either an accomplice or different perpetrator altogether.

If this were a movie script, a terrorist would go to Paddocks room on the pretense of buying guns, kill Paddock, commit the massacre, put his gunshot residue-covered gloves on Paddocks dead hands and slip out of the room when the coast was clear.

According to the all-new timeline given by the Las Vegas police pending a third revision this is at least possible. The hallway was empty, except for a bleeding security guard down by the elevators, for at least two minutes after the shooting stopped. The stairwell was clear for more than half an hour. It also explains the gloves.

Theres no evidence for any of this, but on the other hand, theres no evidence for the version the media are giving us. At least the movie script version doesnt require us to pretend that Paddock was making millions from video poker.

There was no Ann Coulter speech. But protesters converged on …

Here's a look at some of the protests in the Berkeley, Calif., area in recent months. (Gillian Brockell/The Washington Post)

BERKELEY, Calif. Ann Coulters speech at the University of California at Berkeley was canceled. But the debate and hostility that were unleashed by the controversy over the conservative commentators planned event continued here Thursday.

Demonstrators who participated in other recent violent clashes on Berkeleys streets began gathering at a city park and on campus Thursday to fight for free speech or to protest hate speech. Many were geared up with helmets, shields and padding for a confrontation at the park, just blocks from the campus and Berkeley High School. And the possibility of violence caused authorities to turn out in force.

But the conservative and liberal activists mostly spent the afternoon shouting at one another, physically divided by a police line on opposite sides of the street. A total of seven people were arrested by campus and city police and a number of weapons were confiscated, but there were no reports of injuries or property damage.

Campus police arrested one person for allegedly carrying a knife on campus, and another person who was charged with violations including delaying or obstructing a police officer in the course of duty, false identification to a police officer and wearing a mask to evade police.

There were a couple of intermittent skirmishes, said Officer Byron White of the Berkeley Police Department, but mostly it was relatively peaceful, with speakers talking at demonstrations.

Naweed Tahmas, a junior who is a member of the Berkeley College Republicans, said the campus was blockaded Thursday afternoon and that he could see police officers on every corner, with helicopters hovering overhead. He said that it is unfortunate that just the threat of unrest could lead to the cancellation of a conservative speech there.

Berkeley will continue to be a liberal echo chamber unless the university can ensure that conservative speakers can speak on campus, Tahmas said.

Rallies on campus were peaceful as of about 4 p.m., but anxiety increased as right-leaning activists and curious locals waited for Antifa an antifascist group and other left-leaning protesters to arrive. They braced for violence: Many were wearing helmets and goggles and carried pepper spray.

As evening approached, it appeared that large crowds of far-left activists and antifascists didnt show upto shut down the conservatives rally, as they have done repeatedly in recent weeks. The antifascist groups in the area have stopped posting on public forums as authorities in Berkeley and elsewhere have begun focusing attention on them and their violent responses to conservatives.

Rallies remained peaceful in the early evening, but with tension.

On social media, many in the anarchist and antifascist camps pointed to Coulters cancellation as proof that their use of violence as a tool works.

But by 6 p.m. some protesters lingered, but the demonstration had mostly died down.

After the protest, the Berkeley Police Department reported five arrests. Those identified were: Mark Wilder, 52, of Irving, Calif., charged with carrying a concealed dagger; Donque Addison, 28, of Oakland, Calif., charged with resisting arrest; and Stephen Hall, 48, of Oakland, Calif., for attempting to incite a riot and violation of probation. A juvenile whose name was not released was arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance, and a not-yet-identified person was arrested for allegedly resisting arrest.

Many at the rally carried American flags, but some also boresymbols of the alt-right, a small, far-right movement that seeks a whites-only state. Several at the conservative rally carried flags showing Pepe the frog, an Internet meme that has been appropriated in the past two years by the alt-right. A number of people also draped themselves in a green Kekistan flag, another meme that has been popular among the far right.

Karissa Healy, a 47-year-old massage therapist from Berkeley who was working in a makeshift medical tent and wearing a shirt that said Deplorable and Proud, said she started protesting in Berkeley after the Milo Yiannopoulos rally in February, which escalated to violent mayhem.

The Milo riot threw me over the edge, Healy said. I saw those college kids being tear-gassed and attacked just for wanting to hear someone speak. This is not the America we want for our kids.

Police kept left-leaning protesters separate across the street. The protesters shouted, Hell, no! Trump has got to go! and accused the free-speech rally attendees of being neo-Nazis and interlopers from other cities whohad descended on liberal Berkeley.

Dozens of police officers deployed across campus, and officers were posting signs on Sproul Plaza, at the center of campus, with a list of prohibited items, such as baseball bats and projectiles. Police kept antifascist protesters away from the rallies.

A coalition of conservatives and far-right groups held a free-speech rally at Berkeleys Civic Center Park. The park has been the site of two violent clashes in recent weeks, when many of the same conservatives brawled with far-left anarchists and others trying to halt the event.

Rally is ON! Lets show these Commies the Right will not be silenced. We were once warriors and WARRIORS AGAIN WE WILL BE!! Kyle Chapman, a San Francisco Bay-area man who participated in at least two of the previous rallies that grew violent, wrote on Facebook ahead of the event. Chapman became a hero to some conservatives after a video of him breaking a wooden signpost over the head of a far-left protester at a Berkeley rally went viral.

Coulter said in an email to the Associated Press that she was considering a visit to one of the events Thursday but did not elaborate.

Im not speaking. But Im going to be near there, so I might swing by to say hello to my supporters who have flown in from all around the country, Coulter said in the email. I thought I might stroll around the graveyard of the First Amendment.

Yiannopoulos, a former Breitbart writer whose appearance on campus in February sparked riots and who plans a free-speech week there in the fall, wrote on social media that all roads lead to Berkeley.

Kiara Robles, a 26-year-old gay Trump supporter who works at a bitcoin company, said she was disappointed to be attending a rally instead of a Coulter speech.

I wanted a vigil, she said. I wanted something more symbolic, but the guys wanted something else.

Among the leftists, the International Socialist Organization held an Alt Right Delete news conference on campus, saying it hoped to oppose the very real threat posed by the political right wing, which is growing emboldened from the White House to the streets of Berkeley.

Members of the group said they are offended by how Coulter and others are co-opting free speech arguments liberals have made in the past to serve the conservative cause.

Berkeley, home to the Free Speech Movement of the 1960s, has become the center of a pitched battle in recent months. Antifascist and anarchist protesters turned a crowd of students protesting Yiannopoulos into a violent mob, breaking windows and setting fires, and police advised university officials to cancel his speech. When they did and protests continued, President Trump raised the threat of pulling federal funding for the public university.

[How Berkeley has become the battleground of the far left and the far right]

In recent weeks, protests in the city of Berkeley have led torepeated violent clashes.

When student groups invited Coulter to speak, university officials tried to postpone the event until the fall because of safety concerns, then reversed course and asked her to come next week, when they could provide a safer venue for her speech. Berkeley College Republicans and the national Young Americas Foundation filed a lawsuit saying the school had violated their right to free speech. On Wednesday, Coulter announced the speech was canceled.
