Ann Coulter speaks at CU Boulder, prompts walkout

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter spent most of the first 15 minutes of her appearance at the University of Colorado put on by the conservative Turning Point USA as a free speech event deriding immigrants as ugly rapists who depress wages and block vote for Democrats.

Im totally a looksist, Coulter said. I told Donald Trump when he was running that he could completely get rid of the (Immigration and Naturalization Services) and Id do it all before breakfast on Tinder.

She opened with a shot at former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has recently taken to criticizing the Republican Party and announced plans to sue big oil companies over climate change, as proof that California is too liberal.

Thats what you get when you sleep with a Kennedy instead of a porn star, she said in reference to Schwarzeneggers ex-wife, Maria Shriver, who is a niece of President John F. Kennedy and, apparently, President Trumps alleged affair with pornographic actress Stormy Daniels.

The auditorium inside the Cristol Chemistry building on the CU campus had filled to almost capacity ahead of Coulters appearance, which started about 40 minutes late, but about 100 people stood up and walked out en masse after about 15 minutes. A man who sat on an aisle and chuckled at Coulters jokes on Muslims and immigrants chastised the people as they filed out past him.

You were taking seats away from people who wanted to be here, the man said.

Now that we have just adults in the room, I can really cut loose, Coulter said to cheers from her mostly white supporters.

Among those who left was CU student Mahmoud Aljuhani, who said he and his friends are fans of free speech, but Coulter was blurring the line between free speech and unproductive hate speech.

Ann Coulter skewers Trump over spending bill, suggests he …

Conservative commentator and author Ann Coulter skewered President Trump in a series of tweets Friday and suggested he will face impeachment after he signed a $1.3 trillion spending bill into law.

CONGRATULATIONS, PRESIDENT SCHUMER! the one-time staunch Trump supporter and author of In Trump We Trust tweeted Friday, bashing the president's work with Senate Minority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.

Coulter, a steadfast supporter of the southern border wall, continued by sending a flurry of tweets bashing the presidents lack of action on building the border and revving up national defense spending instead.

MASSIVE DEFENSE SPENDING to induct transgenders & build BIG BEAUTIFUL walls ... in Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, and Tunisia, she wrote.

She followed up moments later: IT'S 3-D CHESS! (There's never going to be a wall.)

Trump signed the $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill on Friday despite his displeasure with its provisions and price tag. He cited the military and his duty to keep the U.S. safe as his reason for signing.

In response to him speaking at length about national security, Coulter tweeted: GOOD GOD! Will @realDonaldTrump talk about ANYTHING but defense spending???? Per Obama: The 1980s called & they want their foreign policy back.

This would be like Reagan signing a bill that hiked taxes, slashed defense spending -- but spent gobs of $$ on the Teapot Dome scandal, she continued.

During the Friday news conference, the president spoke at length about his displeasure with the bill and vowed to never sign another bill like this again. To which Coulter snarked, Yeah, because youll be impeached.

The conservative firebrand has walked back her support of the president after he failed to provide the hardline immigration policy she once hoped for.

Within the spending bill was $1.6 billion to begin building the border wall. The president vowed the construction would begin immediately.

Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham warn Trump will be impeached …

President Donald Trump signed a $1.3 trillion spending bill at the White House on Friday, and members of the far-right of the presidents party are not happy.

The legislation avoids a government shutdown and keeps the government running until September, but deficit hawks attacked the president for signing one of the largest increases in federal spending in years. Conservatives also attacked the president for signing a bill that failed to fully fund a wall on the southern border.

Trump had tweeted earlier in the day that he was considering vetoing the bill over its lack of funding for the border wall, and its failure to offer a solution for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, also known as DACA. At the signing ceremony, Trump said he thought about vetoing the bill, but ultimately deemed the legislationnecessary to create by far the strongest military weve ever had.

Many conservatives on Twitter said passage of the bill was a win for Democrats. Conservative provocateur Ann Coulter mocked the signings by tweeting "Congratulations, President Schumer," in reference to Democratic Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

Fox News host and Trump supporter Laura Ingraham, meanwhile, claimed that by signing the bill, the president had furthered his chances of being impeached if Democrats win back control of the House in the 2018 midterms.

The final version of the 2,000-page bill wasnt unveiled until Wednesday, giving Congress just a few hours to read the legislation before voting on it. The short time frame prompted Trump to declare that he would never sign another bill like this again.

Nobody read it. Its only hours old, Trump said.

Ann Coulter in Boulder: Police scout California event for …

The University of Colorado and Boulder police departments sent employees to an Ann Coulter event in California last weekend to help prepare the university for the controversial commentators appearance later this week.

Coulter is scheduled to appear at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Chem 140, at a speaking event hosted by conservative group Turning Point USA.

In preparation, CU spokesman Ryan Huff said the university sent two employees to Mountain View, Calif., where Coulter spoke at a private event. Boulder police spokeswoman Shannon Aulabaugh said Boulder police also sent one person.

Huff said the employees were able to watch a a well-attended event that occurred without disruption.

On occasion, we send staff to high-profile or controversial events before they make their stops at CU Boulder, Huff added.

That was the case ahead of the Dalai Lamas 2016 visit and our hosting of the 2015 Republican presidential debate. Theres no better preparation for hosting a new event than going to another location to see how that host agency manages it. That gives us a sense of what to expect from an operational standpoint and how to best provide hospitality to our attendees.

Political commentator and author Ann Coulter is set to speak Tuesday night at a private event in Mountain View, her first Bay Area appearance since a dust-up last spring over a planned speaking engagement at UC-Berkeley that never occurred.

Coulters appearance, hosted by The Liberty Forum of Silicon Valley, is being called In Trump We Trust. According to the Liberty Forums website, the talk will be areview of the most monumental, paradigm-shattering, vilified presidency in history; whats been accomplished, whats left on the table and what Americans can do to ensure the moment is not wasted.

Mountain View police are planning to assign about two dozen police officers to provide traffic assistance and safety assistance for the event, according to police spokeswoman Katie Nelson. So far, police do not know of any scheduled protests but will designate an area outside for anyone wishing to exercise their rights to free speech.

Last April, Coulter accepted an invitation by campus Republicans to speak at UC Berkeley, then was uninvited by the school because university officials said they could not guarantee the safety of the conservative pundit or anyone else in attendance. UC approved a Coulter speaking engagement for a later day, which never happened.

Coulter told the New York Times the decision to cancel her Berkeley appearance was a sad day for free speech.

The Liberty Forum event at 7 p.m., being held atthe IFES Portuguese Hall at 432 Stierlin Road, is sold out. About 600 people are expected to attend.

On its website, The Liberty Forum of Silicon Valley bills itself as the recognized conservative non-partisan umbrella organization in the Bay Area, we are the place for conservatives from Silicon Valley and beyond to gather, share ideas and become empowered.
