Music History - Laws that Undermine Creativity
Clip from an interview with Cory Doctorow for my forthcoming documentary on surveillance, privacy and censorship issues called "Orwell Upgraded". For news and progress updates, just sign up for the newsletter on the website, or follow on twitter. orwellupgraded.org http Comments on this video are welcome but any criticism should also address the specific issue in the video itself which is about whether copyright really serves art creativity best. You wouldn #39;t think that copyright had much to do with surveillance, privacy and censorship would you? Nor did I until I started investigating. The copyright regime is now so out of control, that it frequently produces distortions and collateral damage that completely contradict copyright #39;s original stated purpose: To promote the arts. Copyright lobbyists and content cartels, however, will never be satisfied with enough control and are now even demanding that governments implement surveillance, censorship and other drastic measures on their behalf that would seriously affect individual rights and privacy. They are willing to overstep the mark to inflict anything on culture and society if it suits them. The new draconian measures that are being demanded on behalf of copyright would be very difficult to get through a normal democratic process where public and cultural interest must also be taken into account, so instead, they try to sneak them into law through backdoor channels such as secretively negotiated international trade ...From:monkeybrainsmediaukViews:31 1ratingsTime:02:41More inFilm Animation

Google.com Blocked in China
http://www.StockMarketFunding.com "Google.com Blocked in China" Google.com is currently blocked in China, according to watchdog group GreatFire.org. "It #39;s the first time since we started tracking online censorship in China in February last year that this has happened," the group said in a Friday blog post. "The subdomains http://www.google.com, mail.google.com, google-analytics.com, docs.google.com, drive.google.com, maps.google.com, play.google.com and perhaps many more are all currently DNS poisoned in China." Looking at Google #39;s online transparency report, which monitors the accessibility of its services around the world, traffic to Google products has dropped off in China in the last few hours. "We #39;ve checked and there #39;s nothing wrong on our end," a Google spokeswoman said when asked about the blockade. According to GreatFire.org, anyone in China trying to access Google services are redirected to an IP address in Korea that doesn #39;t serve any website at all. "This means that none of these websites, including Google Search, currently work in China, unless you have a VPN or other cirumvention tool," the blog said. At this point, it does not appear that international versions of Google - like Google.co.uk - have been disrupted in China. Google is the second most popular search engine in China behind Baidu and is among the top five most used websites in China on a daily basis, according to Alexa stats. GreatFire.org suggested, however, that the blockade could backfire on Chinese ...From:StockMarketFundingViews:28 4ratingsTime:06:08More inNews Politics

Zeitgeist and the Venus Project have been undermining how to solve the worlds energy crisis promoting alternative energies except for hemp fuel that makes all poisonous energy obsolete. Zeitgeist: Moving Forward told people with delusional group think nothing can replace oil or come within 1%...What kind of anti-human world is this? Why are so many Zeitgeist followers closed minded and can #39;t do some simple Math that proves all of the worlds energy can come from Hemp fuel? People are suffering and dying from poisonous cancer causing energy hemp fuel would make obsolete and I have been bullied by Zeitgeist followers for a long time they attack the messenger and ignore the message. Too many bullies told me I was just a pot head and ive been called crazy for not believing in peak oil, ive been called crazy for showing evidence I got censorship from the Zeitgeist Movement, maybe it could be possible the bullies work for poison industries that don #39;t want hemp? Think about it, Did the movie Zeitgeist: Moving Forward even mention hemp fuel once, let alone provide math how to solve the energy crisis? NO they did NOT. I am. euronews interview - #39;Film and cameras are weapons #39; Iranian director Bahman Ghobadi
http://www.euronews.com Euronews reporter Wolfgang Spindler spoke to the exiled Iranian filmmaker of Kurdish ethnicity Bahman Ghobadi. The director speaks about making movies in Iran, his latest offering "Rhino Season" and his hopes for the future of his country. Wolfgang Spindler, euronews. "Your last movie is the first you have made since leaving Iran. What was it like working outside your homeland?" Bahman Ghobadi: " Firstly, I didn #39;t leave Iran they forced me out of my country. It is very difficult to make a film in a country without knowing the language or culture. So this film reflects my feeling since I left Iran, in other words it is a very personal piece of art." euronews: During the Cannes Film Festival I interviewed your colleague Asghar Farhadi, he said there is a problem of censorship, not censorship from the authorities, but a self censorship, within the film community. Bahman Ghobadi: "What I always say about censorship is that we have become worse than the state, it is automatic, yet we don #39;t want censorship, but the constant pressure on us by the regime forces you into it. One becomes like a convict on death row. They treat you so badly that you decide to kill yourself. Iran is like a condemned man who has been shot but the bullet missed the heart, Iran is seriously injured, we must help this country rise again." euronews: "Did you leave Iran with a heavy heart?" Bahman Ghobadi: "It has been that way for three or four years I feel their is a hand smothering me ...From:EuronewsViews:0 4ratingsTime:07:00More inShows
