Child Critical In Route 70 Crash With Suspended Driver: Prosecutor – Patch

Mar 24, 2023 1:01 pm EDT | Updated Mar 25, 2023 7:15 pm EDT

TOMS RIVER, NJ A child is hospitalized in critical condition Friday, one of four people who were injured when a Jackson man with a suspended license ran a red light in a rental pickup and hit their car head-on on Route 70, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office announced Friday.

Charles J. Sharkey Jr., 33, of Jackson Township, has been charged with four counts of aggravated assault, four counts of assault by auto, unlawful taking of a means of conveyance, causing death or injury while driving with a suspended or revoked drivers license, and multiple motor vehicle summonses, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.

Billhimer said the crash happened about 4 p.m. Toms River police on Thursday said the crash happened seconds after someone called 911 to report an erratic driver.

Sharkey was driving east on Route 70 in the 2022 Dodge Ram 1500 and failed to stop at the red light at the Massachusetts Avenue intersection. He grazed the rear of a 2016 Honda CRV that was turning left onto Massachusetts Avenue from Route 70 west then hit a 2017 Subaru Impreza that also was trying to turn left onto Massachusetts Avenue from Route 70 west, investigators determined.

The impact pushed the Impreza backward and caused it to spin, and the pickup truck overturned and came to rest on the driver's side and caught fire, investigators determined. As the pickup overturned it grazed a 2021 Lexus RX 350 causing minor damage, investigators determined.

The man who was driving the Impreza and three children who were with him were injured, Billhimer said. All four were taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where the man and two of the children were treated and released. The third child suffered serious injuries and remains hospitalized in critical condition, Billhimer said. Authorities did not provide the ages or hometowns of the children or the man.

Investigators learned Sharkey had been driving erratically and was using a cell phone just before the crash, and that he was driving despite having a suspended drivers license, Billhimer said. He also had two active warrants for his arrest, the prosecutor said; the nature of those warrants was not immediately known.

The Dodge Ram was rented, and Sharkey had taken it without the consent of the person who had rented it, Billhimer said.

Sharkey was taken to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in Lakewood for treatment of injuries he suffered in the crash, and while he was there, detectives obtained a warrant for a draw of Sharkeys blood, Billhimer said. The laboratory results of that remain pending.

Sharkey is being held at the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing, and Billhimer said additional charges may be forthcoming.

The crash shut down the Route 70-Massachusetts Avenue intersection for several hours for the investigation, tying up traffic on nearby roads as drivers tried to work their way around the crash site.

Cox Cro Road was bumper-to-bumper from Route 9 west to Massachusetts Avenue, and Route 9 southbound was jammed as cars trying to go south were prevented from getting on the ramp to go west on Route 70. Traffic from Massachusetts Avenue southbound was forced to go west on Route 70.

Billhimer said the Ocean County Prosecutors Office Vehicular Homicide Squad, Toms River police and detectives, and the Ocean County Sheriffs Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit combined on the investigation.

Toms River police said multiple EMS and fire companies responded to assist the victims and put out the fire.

Rabbit Hole Cast: Where You’ve Seen The Actors Of The … – CinemaBlend

Since it transitioned over from CBS All Access a little more than two years ago, Paramount+ has put out some of the most engaging shows in the streaming world, including Tulsa King and the various Yellowstone spinoffs, with a great number of exciting originals on the way. You can add John Requa and Glenn Ficarras spy thriller, Rabbit Hole, to that list of Paramount+ original series.

If you have a Paramount+ subscription and are planning to watch the new series, which will be streaming on the platform as of March 26, theres a good chance you want to know where youve seen the Rabbit Hole cast before. Well, worry no more, for we are about to go over each of the stars and why they look so familiar.

At the center of Rabbit Hole, and its cast, is Kiefer Sutherland, who takes on the role of John Weir, a corporate spy who may have bitten off more than he can chew with his latest assignment.

No stranger when it comes to TV, Sutherland received multiple accolades (a Primetime Emmy, a Golden Globe, and much more) for his turn as Jack Bauer on the long-running Fox crime drama 24, which he followed up with a few seasons on the ABC political thriller Designated Survivor, a show that was eventually picked up by Netflix. Throughout his career, Sutherland has also given iconic performances in the likes of Stand By Me, The Lost Boys, Young Guns, Flatliners, and more, cementing himself as one of the best villains of the 80s in the process.

Charles Dance, a veteran of TV, film, and the stage, shows up on Rabbit Hole as Dr. Ben Wilson, the shadowy figure who hires John Weir to carry a massive corporate espionage plan.

Fans of Game of Thrones will recognize Dance from his captivating and merciless portrayal of Tywin Lannister during the first few seasons of Game of Thrones, while those who watched The Crown will remember him for his take on Lord Mountbatten during the expensive Netflix shows third and fourth seasons. But that is just a small part of Dances career, as he has played Bond villains, key figures in the Alien franchise, and dozens of other movies and TV shows over the years.

Meta Golding appears on Rabbit Hole as Hailey Winton, another enigmatic character whose true alliances, and plans, remain shadowy at best.

Fans of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, a.k.a., the best entry in the franchise thus far, will most likely recognize Golding from her portrayal of Enobaria, the District 2 tribute, in the 2013 dystopian sci-fi action flick, as well as its 2015 sequel, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2. Golding has also appeared on shows like Empire, Colony, Dark Blue, and House throughout her career.

Next up is Enid Graham, who shows up on Rabbit Hole as Josephine Jo Madi, an FBI agent who crosses paths with John Weir during his secretive mission.

If you watched the 2021 HBO crime drama series, Mare of Easttown, then youll probably recognize Graham from her portrayal of Dawn Bailey, the mother of the girl whose disappearance is at the center of the show. Over the years, Graham has also landed prominent roles on shows like The Sinner, Boardwalk Empire, and even Oz, on top of one-off appearances on dozens of shows such as The Good Wife, Law & Order, Blue Bloods, and FBI: Most Wanted. Her film credits include The Rewrite, Silver Tongue, and Blue Valentine, to name a few.

Rob Yang takes on the role of Edward Homm on Rabbit Hole, an executive who finds himself becoming the mark in one of John Weirs complex corporate espionage assignments.

Having most recently appeared as a member of The Menu cast, Yang has long popped up in movies like Glass, The Bourne Legacy, The Adjustment Bureau, and The Unidentified, as well as a few dozen TV shows such as Law & Order, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, The Americans, Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television, The American Rust, and the first season of HBOs soon-to-be-ending drama series, Succession, to name only a few. Yang also voiced multiple characters in the Grand Theft Auto video game franchise, including the 2009 DLC, The Ballad of Gay Tony and the uber-successful Grand Theft Auto Online.

Next up is Walt Klink, who shows up in the Rabbit Hole cast as a mysterious character known simply as The Intern.

Throughout his brief career in front of the camera, which only goes back to 2019, Klink has popped up on a number of TV shows such as Brugklas, Lieve Mama, Maus, Arctic Circle, and The English, to name only a few. On top of those appearances, Klink has also landed roles in a number of short films, the most recent being Niels Bourgonjes Barrier.

And rounding out the main portion of the Rabbit Hole cast is Jason Butler Harner, who takes on the role of Miles Valence, an associate of John Weir who sends the corporate spy on the fateful assignment that will forever change the course of his personal history.

Over the years, Harner has appeared on just about every version of Law & Order imaginable, as well as other staples of the broadcast TV crime procedural drama with shows like The Closer and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Harner has also landed roles on the likes of The Handmaids Tale, The Walking Dead, and Ozark in recent years as well. His film credits include everything from The Good Shepherd to Next and The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 to The Family Fang.

Its nearly impossible to imagine a criminal investigation today that doesnt involve forensic science firearms analysis, bloodstain patterns, footprints. CSI On Trial reveals the shocking lack of scientific validity behind these investigative practices through real-life criminal cases, the stories of the wrongly convicted who are now free, and the believed innocent who remain behind bars.

Filmmaker and series executive producer Molly Hermann from The Biscuit Factory narrates the docuseries. She interviewed nearly 70 scientists, practitioners, attorneys, judges, and innocent people who were convicted by flawed forensic evidence.

I believed the old adage that the U.S. criminal justice system isnt perfect, but is still the best in the world, said Hermann. But what I discovered is that many methods of forensic science used to build criminal cases arent just imperfect, theyre irresponsible and unscientific with a profound impact on human lives. And thats our mission -- to investigate how and why most forensic methods are flawed and explore how we can make the justice system more accountable and more fair.

"CSI On Trial is an amazing example of what Curiosity Stream does best dive deep into realms you thought you knew, to reveal stunning new insight, said Rob Burk, Curiositys Head of Content. I had heard of the so-called CSI effect -- but was shocked to learn how little science there is behind most forensic science disciplines and the incredibly high price so many have paid because of it. We hope this series contributes to a healthy dialog about the real capabilities and limitations of forensics science."

Curiositys Burk is the docuseries executive producer along with Hermann and Rob Lyall from The Biscuit Factory.

The woman, who had been ending a relationship with Bray, was found on the ground near a vehicle in the parking lot, the probable cause affidavit said. She had been stabbed multiple times.

Billhimer said a Brick Township police officer doing a routine check of the lot about 5:30 p.m. found her while investigating the vehicle, which had two flat tires.

The woman initially was taken to a hospital and was treated and released, but complications from her injuries resulted in her being readmitted to the hospital, he said.

Investigators determined Bray was the person who had stabbed her, through evidence found at the scene and information from the woman's family, and he was arrested later in the evening, Billhimer said. Read more: Woman Stabbed In Brick Was Ending Relationship, Mom Says: Affidavit

barnegat woman charged with aggravated arson – Ocean County Prosecutor Office

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on March 21, 2023, Lisa Ziobro, 44, of Barnegat, was charged with two counts of Aggravated Arson and four counts of Arson.

On March 21, 2023, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Officers from the Barnegat Township Police Department and Barnegat Township Fire Departments were dispatched to a reported structure fire on Waterfall Lane. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire. The family dog was rescued and unharmed. A pet bird was unable to be rescued and perished in the fire.

A thorough and extensive investigation conducted by the Ocean County Prosecutors Office Major Crime Unit-Arson Squad, Ocean County Sheriffs Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Barnegat Township Police Department Detective Bureau, and Ocean County Fire Marshals Office, determined that two separate fires had been intentionally set within the structure. The first fire was set on a mattress in a bedroom, and the second fire was set on a shower curtain in the bathroom. Further investigation determined that Ziobro who resided at the residence was responsible for setting both fires.

Ziobro was transported to Barnegat Township Police Headquarters, processed, and transported to the Ocean County Jail where she remains lodged pending a detention hearing.

Prosecutor Billhimer acknowledges the Ocean County Prosecutors Office Major Crime Unit-Arson Squad, Ocean County Sheriffs Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Barnegat Township Police Department Detective Bureau, Barnegat Township Police Department, and Ocean County Fire Marshals Office, for their combined and cooperative efforts in connection with this investigation.
