HULU ACQUIRES EXCLUSIVE SUBSCRIPTION VIDEO ON DEMAND RIGHTS TO "CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION"

Multi-Year Agreement With CBS Marks the First Time the Award-Winning Crime Drama Has Ever Been Licensed to an SVOD Service

SANTA MONICA, CA (February 19, 2015) - Hulu has acquired the exclusive subscription video on demand (SVOD) rights to all previous seasons of CBS's award-winning, critically acclaimed crime drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, it was announced today by Hulu CEO Mike Hopkins, and Scott Koondel, Chief Corporate Content Licensing Officer for CBS Corporation. All episodes will be available for streaming on Hulu with a Plus subscription beginning early April.

Through the multi-year agreement, Hulu subscribers will be able to stream more than 300 episodes and all complete past seasons of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Hulu also becomes the exclusive SVOD home to all episodes of the series, and will add full libraries of past seasons ahead of future series premieres. The deal marks the first time CSI: Crime Scene Investigation has ever been licensed to an SVOD service.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation premiered in the fall of 2000 with big ratings, ground-breaking production values and a storytelling form that influenced a generation of crime dramas. The series ranked as television's number one drama for seven seasons and became a global phenomenon, earning the title of the "most-watched show in the world" on five separate occasions, most recently in 2012. CSI has also developed into major a franchise for CBS, spawning three television spin-offs, books, video games and CSI: The Experience, an interactive educational exhibit about forensic science that travels around the world.

"CSI is one of the most popular television franchises in the world and we could not be more thrilled to make all episodes available to Hulu subscribers," said Craig Erwich, Senior Vice President and Head of Content, Hulu. "This deal not only represents a huge growth in our offering of premium content, but it also represents an expansion in our partnership with CBS. We look forward to working with CBS to continue making some of the best shows on television available for viewers to stream on more screens in the future."

"The original series from the most successful franchise in television history has been licensed to the SVOD market for the first time," said Koondel. "This agreement and previous deals with our partners at Hulu further validates how well CBS procedural dramas perform on subscription services. And, at a time when the CBS Television Network is getting ready to premiere the next generation of the CSI franchise with CSI: Cyber, it's very exciting to make available all 14 seasons of the show that started it all to Hulu subscribers and CSI's passionate fan base."

Hulu will also soon become the exclusive SVOD home to all previous seasons of the CBS crime drama Elementary.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation joins more than 5,300 library episodes of popular CBS programming added to Hulu last year in an expanded licensing deal with the Network. In separate deals, Hulu acquired non-exclusive subscription streaming rights to previous seasons of The Good Wife and the police procedural Blue Bloods.

Hulu gets streaming rights for 'CSI'

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is finally going to be available to stream on Hulu, joining a small group of CBS shows that will be available on the service.

Hulu announced that over 300 CSI episodes will be available for Hulu Plus subscribers only. That way you can binge-watch CSI. It will take you nearly two full weeks to watch the series, that is, if you dont need a bathroom break (or time to sleep).

While CBS rarely has its shows available on non-CBS platforms, Hulu does already carry episodes of The Good Wife and Blue Bloods. Elementary is also available on Hulu.

CSI is currently in its 15th season and now stars Ted Danson and Elisabeth Shue. The series has spawned three spin-offs, including the upcoming CSI: Cyber, starring Patricia Arquette. Hulu didnt say if episodes of CSI or CSI: Miami would be available.

Todays news is a bit of a surprise. After all, CBS has its own app and All Access streaming service. Plus, it has also done deals with Amazon in the past. But its great news for CSI fans who also subscribe to Hulu Plus.

Waynesburg University preparing for 10th CSI camp

Published: February 18, 2015 - Updated: February 19, 2015 10:50 am

WAYNESBURG Waynesburg University will host its 10th annual Crime Scene Investigation summer camp June 21-26 on the campus of Waynesburg University. Participants will gain valuable insight into the field of forensic science through experiential learning and strategically planned activities.

All workshops are interconnected through a series of evidence and crime scenes, designed with a hands-on approach to learning. Students will learn how to properly collect, preserve and analyze evidence.

During this six-day, five-night experience, students are given the opportunity to study with experts in forensic science as well as professionals from various fields including state and federal agencies. This year, camp topics will include scene processing, burial remains excavation, surveillance and search warrant execution, forensic analysis of biological evidence and questioned documents analysis.

Participants of the camp will train with special agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation Biometric Center of Excellence, Pennsylvania State Police Forensic Services, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, as well as representatives from Council Bluffs, Iowa, police department. The camp will enable students to enhance their knowledge and understanding of forensic topics, as well as allow them to make valuable connections with professionals and fellow peers in the field.

The camp affords participating students a chance to experience the realities of the professions in which they have found some interest, said Michael Cipoletti, camp director, director of the Forensic Science Program and assistant professor of forensic science at Waynesburg University. Students perspectives are typically formed from popular television shows or books; this camp gives them the ability to work with real professionals, ask them what their jobs are like and how they got to where they are.

Individuals entering their junior or senior years, or those who are spring 2015 high school graduates, are eligible to attend the camp.

Participating Waynesburg University faculty include:

Mike Cipoletti, camp director, director of the Forensic Science Program and assistant professor of forensic science at Waynesburg University, previously worked for the Pennsylvania State Police Crime Lab. He served as a forensic scientist and lab system quality specialist in chemistry and drug identification.

John Mcllwain, camp adviser and adjunct instructor of criminal justice at Waynesburg University, has taught for 16 years. He began his professional career as a U.S. Army Military Police Officer in Germany. Mcllwain left the military in 1977 and became a Special Agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. He conducted investigations of the Federal Firearms Laws for 11 years.
