Lib Dem campaigner Michelle Gent used her party's constituency headquarters for her bondage and porn film business

A Liberal Democrat campaigner has been exposed as a dominatrix who used the party's constituency headquarters for her bondage and porn film business.

Michelle Gent directed and starred in violent films featuring whips, chains, swords and scantily clad women before selling the videos online.

The former Lib Dem councillor, 50, used the party's offices in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, to hold auditions for the sordid films.

Working Scots would pay more tax under SNP plans

Liberal Democrat Scottish Secretary Alistair Carmichaeltoday warned that working Scots would pay 400 a year more under the SNP's income tax plan than they will under theLiberal Democrats.

Over the course of this Parliament, Liberal Democrats in government have raised the starting point at which people pay income tax from 6,500 to 10,600, saving working Scots 825 a year. In the next Parliament we will raise it further still to at least12,500.

Speaking on the campaign trail with Edinburgh West Liberal Democrat candidate Mike Crockart,Mr Carmichael will say:

"The SNP couldn't be clearer about the fact that they will not matchthe Liberal Democrat promise to raise thestarting point for income tax to 12,500 a year. Theiroffer to raise the threshold by the rate ofinflation when inflation is at 0% means that people would get no extra help at all.

"It is wrong for the SNP to claim they are in favour of working people, yet oppose a tax cut for them. It is wrong for them to keep people on the minimum wage paying income tax when we have shown that we can lift them out of it.

"We would put another 400 a year back into the pockets of working men and women in Scotland. The SNP would not.

"The SNP talk a good game about helping the less advantaged, but they don't have a redistributive policy to their name.

"Here's a chance for NicolaSturgeon to match the Liberal Democrat promise ofan additional 400 tax cut for the less well off."

Feinstein Criticizes Netanyahus Comments on Iran

A top Senate Democrat on Sunday said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should quiet down his vocal campaign to scuttle the tentative nuclear agreement between Iran and six world powers.

I wish he would contain himself, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the senior Democrat on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, told CNNs State of the Union.

Ms. Feinsteins comments came on a day in which Mr. Netanyahu made the rounds on U.S. talk shows, denouncing the Iran nuclear-framework agreement as one that threatens Israels existence.

Mr. Netanyahu inserted himself in U.S. politics on the matter in March when he accepted a Republican invitation to address Congress and express opposition to the deal being hashed out between a U.S.-led group of nations and Teheran. Democrats considered the invitationand its acceptancea breach of Capitol Hill protocol and an infringement on the presidents ability to conduct foreign policy.

Ms. Feinstein, of California, predicted the prime ministers public statements might backfire on him. I dont think its helpful for Israel to come out and oppose this one major opportunity to change this dynamic of hostility between Iran and the U.S., she said.

Mr. Netanyahu and President Barack Obama are sparring in public and in back rooms over the framework agreement, intended to forestall Irans push to acquire nuclear weapons.

Mr. Netanyahu gave no sign that he planned to reduce his public pressure on the Obama administration. Ill use whatever means I have, including this program, to try to persuade people to seek a stronger agreement, Mr. Netanyahu said on NBCs Meet the Press.

Mr. Netanyahu said he would like to see the U.S. and its allies tighten economic sanctions on Tehran. Once theyre at the table, why let up on those sanctions? he said on ABC.

As Mayor Ed Pawlowski ponders a U.S. Senate campaign, slim challenger field awaits Pat Toomey

Democrat Joe Sestak left Philadelphia in early March on a trek across Pennsylvania after announcing his desire for a rematch against Republican U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey.

When he reached the Ohio state line four weeks and 422 miles later, Sestak still was the only challenger in a race national experts believe the right Democrat could win, putting the party a vital step closer to regaining control of the Senate.

Few see Sestak as the right candidate, even though the retired Navy admiral came within 2 percentage points of defeating Toomey in 2010.

And that's just one of the ironies in a 2016 Senate race that already is getting national attention.

Among the others:

Though state party leaders are less than enthused about Sestak, whom they view as uncooperative and lacking a strong message, they have yet to rally behind an alternative.

National electoral trends favor state Democrats in a presidential election year, yet up-and-comers within the party remain on the sidelines.

And legal troubles faced by marquee Democrats Kathleen Kane and Rob McCord may put alternative political jobs into play.

State and national Democrats are convinced they can defeat Toomey next year, yet other potential candidates including Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski, former U.S. Rep. Chris Carney of northeastern Pennsylvania, and Montgomery County commissioner Josh Shapiro so far have been noncommittal.

"People are dipping their toes in," Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chairman Jim Burn said in a recent interview. "They're just being quiet about it."
