Elon Musk claims he’s the reason ChatGPT-owner OpenAI exists – CNBC

Tesla CEO Elon Musk claimed on Tuesday he is "the reason that OpenAI exists," citing his past investment in the entity, and that Microsoft exerts control over the AI company, an assertion strongly denied by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.

"I came up with the name," Musk told CNBC's David Faber. He also said he was instrumental in recruiting key scientists and engineers at the company.

Musk has previously repeatedly asserted that Microsoft controls OpenAI and that OpenAI's capped-profit model is questionable. Musk was an early backer of the AI startup, reportedly committing to $1 billion in support before pulling out over disagreements over the speed of OpenAI's advancements. He said he ultimately invested somewhere around $50 million.

He also suggested that OpenAI didn't place sufficient emphasis on safe AI development. Musk was a signatory to a March open letter asking for a pause in advanced AI development while safeguards were established but told Faber that he knew the letter was unlikely to do anything.

Despite signing the letter, Musk still incorporated a rival AI firm, X.AI, in April.

But Musk added that signing the letter warning of the dangers of AI was something he wanted to do "for the record."

An OpenAI spokesperson was not immediately available to comment.

Separately, Musk told Faber that he used to be close friends with Google co-founder Larry Page and that the two of them would have lengthy conversations about the nature of artificial intelligence.

Page was "quite cavalier" about AI, Musk claimed. Page "did not seem to be concerned about AI safety," Musk alleged, and said, "The final straw was Larry calling me a 'species-ist' for being pro-human consciousness instead of machine consciousness."

Larry Page was not immediately available for comment.

Race To The Moon: NASA awards both Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk contracts to put humans on the Moon – Firstpost

After awarding Elon Musks SpaceX a $3 billion contract to put humans on the Moon by 2025, NASA has also awarded a similar contract to Jeff Bezos Blue Origin, worth $3.4 billion.

In a recent statement, Jeff Bezos announced that his private space exploration company, Blue Origin had secured a significant contract worth $3.4 billion with NASA, bringing him closer to his goal of sending humans to the Moon.

NASA expands its Artemis programmeNASA revealed that Bezos private rocket company, Blue Origin, has been awarded the contract as part of the Artemis programme, which aims to return astronauts to the Moon. Unfortunately for Bezos, Musks SpaceX was granted a similar Artemis contract back in 2021, positioning Musk and his company way ahead in the race. For their part, Musks SpaceX recently conducted a successful launch of their Starship rocket that is supposed to be used for the Artemis mission.

With Musk and SpaceX leading the way, NASAs recent contract with Blue Origin intensifies the competition between the two billionaires. Over the years, Bezos and Musk have engaged in some heated debates, exchanging jabs regarding their respective efforts to spearhead humanitys space exploration endeavours.

In an Instagram post, Jeff Bezos expressed his excitement by declaring, We are going to the Moon! Accompanying the statement was a depiction of Blue Origins proposed lunar lander, hinting at Bezos intention to establish a permanent human presence on the Moon. This indicates that his mission carries a more ambitious scope compared to Musks efforts.

Jeff Bezos had sued SpaceX beforeIn 2021, Elon Musks SpaceX secured a $3 billion contract from NASA to facilitate human return to the Moon, marking the first such mission since 1972. Bezos and Blue Origin had also vied for the contract but were unsuccessful. They subsequently filed a complaint and launched a lawsuit, both of which were ultimately dismissed by the Government Accountability Office and federal court, respectively.

NASA emphasized that the upcoming missions will explore a greater expanse of the lunar surface than ever before. The objective of sending humans back to the Moon is to conduct research that will contribute to the eventual launch of similar missions to Mars.

While announcing Blue Origins contract, NASAs chief administrator, Bill Nelson, expressed a positive outlook on the competition and stated that the agency welcomes more contenders in this space race.

During a conference at NASA HQ in Washington, Jeff Bezos highlighted the significance of having backups and reliability in space missions. He emphasized that having multiple providers ensures redundancy and increased mission success.

Blue Origins lunar lander head, John Couluris, revealed that the company had privately contributed an amount exceeding the $3.4 billion contract payout. This demonstrates the long-standing commitment of Bezos and his team to establish a permanent outpost on the Moon.

What will Blue Origin and SpaceX do for NASAs Artemis mission? While Blue Origin has been relatively discreet about the specifics of its Moon lander proposal, it has mentioned its corporate partners, including Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Draper (a spacecraft software firm), and Astrobotic (a robotics firm), as part of Artemis V mission.

Elon Musks NASA Artemis missions, utilizing SpaceXs Starship system, are planned for later in the decade, with Blue Origins missions currently scheduled for 2029, shortly after.

Blue Origins Artemis V mission aims to deploy astronauts to the lunar surface, specifically focusing on exploring the icy southern pole of the Moon. It will be the first Artemis mission to utilize NASAs proposed orbital Lunar Gateway in conjunction with a landing on the Moons surface.

On the other hand, NASA selected SpaceX to develop the first commercial human lander to safely carry the next two American astronauts to the lunar surface, as part of the Artemis III mission. The human landing system will be used for both Artemis III and Artemis IV.

As outlined in NASAs budget proposal from March, the mission involves delivering the European Space Agencys ESPRIT refuelling and communications module to NASAs Gateway, along with a Canadian-made robotic arm system. During the surface phase of the mission, the Artemis astronauts will also transport an unpressurized lunar rover, as indicated by NASAs working manifest chart.

Blue Origin validated? This contract is a significant achievement for Bezos and Blue Origin, as it validates their extensive investments since the companys establishment in 2000. Their aim has been to compete for prominent commercial and government space contracts, particularly with SpaceX, a dominant player in satellite launches and human spaceflight.

Blue Origin, along with lawmakers, exerted pressure on NASA to award a second lunar lander contract to promote commercial competition and ensure the agency has alternative means to reach the Moon. In response, NASA announced a program for a second lander contract in early 2022.

Elon Musk’s fascination with India: From Butter Chicken, Taj Mahal to Indian talent – Business Today

Elon Musk's admiration for various aspects of Indian culture has been evident, despite not explicitly expressing his views on the country. One area where his appreciation shines through is Indian cuisine, as he has consistently shown excitement and delight for the flavours that India has to offer.

In a recent tweet, Musk couldn't contain his enthusiasm for Indian food, specifically expressing his love for the delectable combination of butter chicken and naan. Just a couple of days ago, when a Twitter user praised this mouthwatering duo, Musk wholeheartedly agreed, indicating that he has savoured these appetising dishes himself. Butter chicken and naan are widely enjoyed components of North Indian cuisine, and it seems that Musk has also developed a fondness for their culinary delights.

Moreover, Musk's praise for India extends beyond its cuisine. He has previously shown admiration for individuals with Indian heritage who have achieved significant milestones in the tech industry. One such example is Parag Agrawal, who made history in November 2021 by becoming the first Indian CEO of Twitter. Musk had expressed his positive sentiments about Agrawal and the talent of Indians in general, recognising their contributions to the United States.

However, it is worth noting that Musk's relationship with Agrawal took an unexpected turn when Musk personally removed him from his position after gaining control of Twitter. Despite any disagreements or conflicts that may have arisen, Musk's initial acknowledgement of India's pool of highly skilled and talented individuals remains an important statement.

Beyond the realm of food and technology, Musk's fascination with India extends to its remarkable landmarks. During a visit, he was captivated by the architectural marvel of the Taj Mahal and couldn't resist sharing his awe with the world. Responding to a tweet praising Mughal architecture, Musk recounted his personal experience, stating, "It is amazing. I visited in 2007 and also saw the Taj Mahal, which truly is a wonder of the world."

This time, a photo of him kissing a female humanoid robot has gone viral and left netizens baffled. But is the image real?

After the release of a footage that showed Tesla's humanoid robots 'Optimus' taking its first steps, a Twitter user posted photos of the Tesla founder kissing four different female robots on May 16.

The photos were shared by a user named Daniel Mavern, who claimed that Musk is designing a robot that has been manufactured specifically designed with artificial intelligence with the personality and the characteristics of the female that he dreams of.

The truth about the four photos accompanying Mavern's tweet is that they are AI-generated.

Mavern informed his followers that the humanoid robots were specifically designed with artificial intelligence with the personality and the characteristics of a female.

He wrote: "It is the first robot that has been manufactured specifically designed with artificial intelligence with the personality and the characteristics of the female that he dreams ofwhich is not found in any normal person, because of course, there is no normal person that has all the required specifications."

"Catnilla works with solar energy without charging, it is equipped with sensory means that make her feel sad and happy, and she has a balanced and interactive mindset so she can share it if she is in a crisis or the feelings that she is experiencing or needs when she is exposed to any psychological stress," the tweet adds.

Mavern added towards the end of his tweet that he post was to 'clarify the dangers of AI (artificial intelligence) in the coming period, especially after Tesla Company released the first integrated robot "Optimus"'
