Christian Hungary on Collision Course with European Union’s Islamic ‘Blackmail’ – CBN News

BUDAPEST - In a time when most of Europe is in the grips of atheism, there is a nation where Christianity seems to not only be holding its own but some say is thriving.

Imagine a government that is unabashedly Christian, that thinks Christian values are worth defending; that wants to protect and even nourish the family.

Welcome to Hungary.

A Christian Nation

Hungary's constitution is explicitly Christian, and says that marriage is between one man and one woman and that life begins at conception. It even includes the phrase, "God bless the Hungarians."

Hungary's Faith Church, with 300 branches, is one of the largest Pentecostal churches in Europe, with 70,000 attendees.

Help for Persecuted Christians

And the Hungarian government has taken on the role of protecting Christianity. It's even set up an office to help persecuted Christians worldwide.

When CBN News revealed the story of Sweden's threat to deport Iranian actress Aideen Strandsson back to certain prison and torture in Islamic Iran, only one nation stepped up and offered her asylum: Hungary.

The Hungarian government says, "Taking in persecuted Christians is our moral and constitutional duty."

Returning to Its Christian Roots

Hungarian policy analyst Istvn Pcza says Hungary has only returned to its roots as a historic bastion of Christianity, dating back over a thousand years.

"Hungary wants to protect the European values; European Christian Jewish values," he told CBN News.

Christianity in Hungary has survived almost 200 years of Muslim Ottoman rule and Soviet Communist domination.

Secretary of State Zoltn Kovcs told us, "You have to stick to your traditions and legacies. Europe's legacy is a Christian legacy, not necessarily in a religious form but most definitely in a cultural form."

Resisting Islamization

And it's this belief that has Hungary locked in a battle with the European Union over migrants.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Mihly Orbn has accused the European Union of trying to Islamize Europe, and Hungary has infuriated Brussels by building a fence to keep illegal migrants out.

Orbn has essentially told the European Union to 'take a hike' when it comes to open borders. Hungary has seen the terrorism and chaos caused by migration in Western Europe and has said, "not here."

The European Union has even gone to court to force Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic to take in migrants. Mr. Oban has accused Brussels of "blackmail."

"Securing the borders to stop illegal migration is indeed a solution, and this is actually the only way to reinstate law and order at the borders of the European union, and not the other way around," Kovcs told CBN News.

Islam Matters

Kovcs says it matters that most of the migrants trying to enter Hungary are Muslim. And he says Western European nations are paying a heavy price by pretending that Islam doesn't matter.

"We've been living with and close to Islam for centuries in the past and we know about it. So, that's why it does matter who has come in and in what manner people are coming," Kovcs told CBN News.

Orbn Is No Putin, Or Is He?

Orbn is often portrayed in the western media as a version of Vladimir Putin; an undemocratic strongman. In fact, at an EU summit in 2015, the European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker reportedly greeted Orbn with the words, "Hello, dictator."

Hungary is most certainly not a dictatorship. But Orbn's critics accuse him of corruption and using the instruments of government against his political opponents, including the recent billboard campaign against billionaire George Soros.

Tams Lattmann of the Institute of International Relations told us, "What we see in Hungary today is the shameless use of public money, of tax money to formulate pro-government messages."

Bulcs Hunyadi of the Political Capital Policy Research and Consulting Institute said, "Since 2008 the Hungarian government headed by Prime Minister Viktor Orbn has been continuously weakening the system of checks and balances and weakening democratic institutions."

But Orbn, a man who even his critics concede is a skilled politician, doesn't seem to have a serious political rival, and he will probably remain in power, meaning Hungary's standoff with the European Union over migrants is likely to escalate.

Is also means that Hungary will continue to have a government that thinks Christianity is worth protecting.

‘European Union is just another name for 4th Reich!’ Expert – YNaija

A political discussion show which hosted a panel of experts to discuss the current political climate in Poland as insinuated that, instability in the nation was caused by the European Unions goal to deprive Europe of its independence.

Krzysztof Karo, a Polish publicist and one of the panelists accused the EU of writing its communist agenda into its own laws.

He said, In March this year the European Commission signed its white paper, which was dubbed the Rome Declaration.

The only binding manifesto of the EU became the communist manifesto from 1941.

Karo stressed further, It is written in the programme that the first goal is to erase borders dividing Europe into sovereign states and that every single undertaking must be verified under this first point', an action he underlined as the root of all political problems prevailing in the continent.

Another panelist, Stanisaw Michalkiewicz, a lawyer and political commentator, who followed suit in Karo sentiments accused the EU of being a Fourth Reich.

Stanislaw said, I think that we should be wary of the danger that we will fail to see the wood for the trees.

He also said, It is written in the programme that the first goal is to erase borders dividing Europe into sovereign states and that every single undertaking must be verified under this first point.

There is a communist revolution which indeed is in full advance right now, and not just from March, but for a long time now.

He was of the opinion that, With the use of European institutions it heads towards the dissolution of countries and nations, but even when that happens, someone will have to steer the European Union. Mr Michalkiewicz however went on to state his belief of the need for Germany to take over leadership as the EUs political director.

European newspapers have said Brexit is unnecessary – Express.co.uk

Belgian publication De Tijd predicted the chances of the UK securing a proposed customs agreement are low and accused ministers of wanting a no strings attached relationship with Europe.

It claimed that UK voters were beginning to realise that the bogus benefits a divorce from the EU would bring were based on illusions and described Theresa Mays government as weakened.

Separately, the centre-left Slovakian newspaper Pravda claimed in its editorial that Britain could have secured reforms to free movement from within the EU that so many voters wanted.

It said Austria and Germany are already pressing for a tightening of the rules which allow people to circulate around the bloc, saying the UK had gone about securing control over immigration the wrong way by quitting.

A number of senior EU leaders, also including French leader Emmanuel Macron, are pressing for a crackdown on abuses of the free movement principle including limiting the rights of posted workers.

The new Paris chief has taken a surprisingly tough line on immigration as he looks to woo people who voted for Marine Le Pen, and has voiced concerns over wage undercutting similar to those raised last June.

But it is unclear as of yet whether his proposals to crack down on unfair wage competition will get past Brussels, and if they do whether they would be strong enough to assuage some British voters fears about immigration.

In its editorial, Pravda stated: Many would prefer to turn back time and reverse the last year's referendum on the withdrawal of the British from the European Union.

The British want to limit the influx of migrants and want to cut social benefits for those who already arrived, while at the same time benefiting from the free movement of goods and services.

These are reasonable goals. Only the British have chosen the wrong way to reach them. A reasonable reduction in social benefits for migrants could have been achieved if they were to remain in the EU. This is already being discussed in Austria and Germany anyway.

Meanwhile De Tijd, a Belgian economics paper modelled on the Financial Times, laid into the promises made by Brexiteers during the referendum and dismissed the idea of a new customs union with the UK.

British Secretary of State for International Trade Liam Fox delivers remarks on 'The Future of UK Trade Policy' at the American Enterprise Institute

It said: "The chances of this are low. Yesterday the EU Commission clearly repeated that three issues had to be resolved before discussions on trade relations.

It is about the rights of EU citizens after Brexit, the status of the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, and perhaps the most difficult issue, the agreement on the pending bill the British still have to pay the EU.

As long as no agreement is in sight, other topics have little chance. The weakened British government is in a difficult situation. Apart from the internal disagreement over the nature of Brexit they ultimately want to have it, the British public is aware that the bogus benefits a divorce from the EU would bring were based on illusions.

Brexit is heading for a catastrophe. This can not be covered by ideas of a temporary customs union. This merely reinforces the impression that the British want to have lust without strings. The EU should not allow it.

‘No Brexit bill!’ David Davis refuses to bow down to EU deadline on divorce settlement – Express.co.uk

The EU wants an agreement on how the exit bill will be calculated before talks on the UKs future relationship with the Brussels bloc can move on.

But Brexit Secretary David Davis said it is likely the divorce settlement - to be paid in euros - will still not be agreed by October or November this year.

And he suggested the EU has had a difficult time in the negotiation over the deal, although insisted talks were going well.

Mr Davis said: "We're going to talk it through very, very carefully, so at this stage we're not going to commit.

There won't be a number by October or November, whenever it is.

The Brexit Secretary added any transition period should be concluded by the date of the next British national election, due by May 2022.

However he added it was likely to last for about two years.

Mr Davis said: It's got to be done by the election. I would say the most likely is something like two years, maybe a bit shorter.

We're going to talk it through very, very carefully, so at this stage we're not going to commit [to a brexit bill deadline]

However Brussels chief negotiator Michel Barnier insisted talks on future relations between the European Union and Britain, including a free trade agreement, cannot begin until it has been decided that sufficient progress has been made on separation issues such as the exit bill.

EU leaders are due to make that assessment at a summit in October and Mr Davis said Britain would meet any real international obligations.

However Mr Davis failed to give a definitive answer about whether the European Court of Justice be the arbiter during for an interim customs deal but said Britain would next week set out its proposals on post-Brexit international arbitration.

Todays comments come after Mr Davis also refused to rule out making payments to Brussels for temporary customs arrangements after leaving the EU.

In a series of broadcast interviews, Mr Davis suggested the temporary arrangements could allow Britain to negotiate trade deals with other countries for when it leaves, as current rules bar members of the EU customs union from making their own deals outside the bloc.

Pressed on whether the UK would have to pay, he told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "I am not going to do the negotiation on air.

What we are not going to do, let's be clear, we are not going to continue the 10billion a year net contributions we currently have."

Asked if money could be a part of the negotiations, he said: "I didn't say that. Wait and see."

Mr Davis also told ITV's Good Morning Britain: "We sell them, the Europeans, about 230 billion euros of goods and services a year.

"They sell us 290 billion euros. So there are a lot of things there."

All European Union eggs to be inspected, Hong Kong food … – South China Morning Post

All poultry eggs in Hong Kong imported from European Union countries are to be held for inspection, the citys food watchdog announced on Monday evening.

Effective immediately, the decision by the Centre for Food Safety is the latest precaution taken locally since eggs from Dutch farms were found earlier this month to contain unsafe levels of an insecticide. The scandal spread as tainted eggs were found in 15 EU states and Switzerland as well as Hong Kong.

A centre spokesman said it had been closely monitoring the matter. Last week, eggs imported to the city from the Netherlands were found to exceed the local legal limit for Fipronil, a highly toxic pest control chemical banned from the production of food.

The centre will hold poultry eggs from EU countries for testing as soon as they are imported, and they will only be released to the market for sale if test results prove satisfactory, the spokesman said.

Inspection had already been tightened for poultry eggs imported from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France. The spokesman called the latest move prudent.

Other than the unsatisfactory Dutch eggs it identified and announced earlier, the centre has not found any additional bad samples.

All the recalled Dutch eggs in the city were to be sent to landfill for disposal under the supervision of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department.

Poultry eggs from the EU account for less than two per cent of all poultry eggs imported to the city.
