George Zimmerman won't be prosecuted for allegedly throwing a bottle of wine at his girlfriend, the State Attorney's Office said today.
Zimmerman was arrested and accused of aggravated-assault charges.
"While it is clear that the officers had probable cause to arrest Mr. Zimmerman which was affirmed by the circuit court judge at initial appearances, the subsequent recantation by the victim of her initial statement along with new documents provided by the victim and her attorney precludes my office from proceeding further," State Attorney Phil Archer said.
Zimmerman, 31, was arrested earlier this month.
Lake Mary police spokeswoman Officer Bianca Gillett said the fight occurred Jan. 5. at Zimmerman's Lake Mary residence.
Though nobody involved called 911, police found out about the fight when an officer pulled Zimmerman's girlfriend over for a routine traffic stop.
"The driver stated she was just involved in a domestic altercation with George Zimmerman," Gillett said in a statement.
Zimmerman, the former Neighborhood Watch volunteer, was acquitted of second-degree murder and manslaughter charges in the Feb. 26, 2012, shooting death of unarmed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Sanford.

George Zimmerman won't be charged in alleged wine-throwing incident
SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla.
George Zimmerman will not be charged following his arrest on aggravated assault charges earlier this month, according to the State Attorney's Office.
Zimmerman was arrested after his girlfriend alleged he threw a wine bottle at her.
While it is clear that the officers had probable cause to arrest Mr. Zimmerman which was affirmed by the circuit court judge at initial appearances, the subsequent recantation by the victim of her initial statement along with new documents provided by the victim and her attorney precludes my office from proceeding further, State Attorney Phil Archer said in a statement released Friday morning.
The statement went on to say that later the woman denied that Zimmerman threw a bottle at her and said she was never in fear of him. She said she did not want to proceed with the case.
According to the State Attorney's Office, a lack of witnesses and other evidence contributed to the decision to not file formal charges.
Zimmerman was acquitted in July 2013 of a second-degree murder charge for shooting unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin.
Since his acquittal, Zimmerman's brushes with the law include:
He was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, battery and criminal mischief after his then-girlfriend said he pointed a gun at her face during an argument, smashed her coffee table and pushed her out of the house they shared. Samantha Scheibe decided not to cooperate with detectives and prosecutors didn't pursue the case.
Zimmerman's estranged wife accused him of smashing an iPad during an argument at the home they had shared. Shellie Zimmerman initially told a dispatcher her husband had a gun, though she later said he was unarmed. No charges were ever filed because of a lack of evidence. The dispute occurred days after Shellie Zimmerman filed divorce papers.
