According to a tape of the emergency call made by Mr Apperson and released by the police, Mr Zimmerman made other threats.
George Zimmerman was the driver, and they were threatening to kick my ass and to shoot me, Mr Apperson told the police dispatcher.
Mr Apperson said he had pulled into a nearby filling station to call the police because he did not have his mobile phone and the truck followed him.
Two days later Mr Apperson alleged that he saw Mr Zimmerman outside his workplace and called the police again.
Police questioned Mr Zimmerman briefly before allowing him to go.
Bianca Gillett, a police spokesman said that Mr Apperson chose not to press charges.
As of now, the incident is closed. If the victim did wish to assist with prosecution, we could reopen and review the incident at that time,' she said.
The road rage incident was Mr Zimmermans latest brush with the law after his acquittal of the murder of Trayvon Martin, a black teenager.
On one occasion police were called by Mr Zimmermans estranged wife who alleged that he had threatened her and her father.
In a separate incident Mr Zimmerman was arrested after being accused of domestic violence by a girlfriend.
