In Zimmerman lawsuit Roseanne Barr admits tweeting their …

Yeah, I tweeted the address of George Zimmerman's parents, Roseanne Barr acknowledged in court paperwork this week, and now the comedienne has hired five lawyers to help her fight a lawsuit they filed against her.

On Monday, those lawyers filed paperwork asking an Orlando federal judge to throw out the suit filed last month by Robert Zimmerman Sr. and Gladys Zimmerman, who accuse Barr of violating their privacy and intentionally inflicting emotional distress.

Barr did post their address on Twitter on March 28 or 29, 2012, she and her lawyers concede, but it an accident she meant to reply to just one person, they wrote.

"i was actually going2 tweet the person who sent it2 me& tell them to take it down! But i hit retweet instead. Deletd in 5 sec," she wrote March 29, according to paperwork filed with the court.

Even though she published their Lake Mary address and phone number, her lawyers wrote, she's not liable for damages because she was merely putting out facts that were widely available elsewhere, including in the phone book, on the Internet and from the Seminole County Property Appraiser.

"Anyone could find them in the phone book or by conducting an Internet search," according to the defense motion.

In their suit, the Zimmermans allege that after Barr tweeted their address, they were forced to flee their home in the middle of the night and live in hiding.

But that does not jibe with what Robert Zimmerman Sr. told the Orlando Sentinel in an interview two weeks earlier, on March 15, 2012. He said then that he and his wife were already living in hiding.

On that date their son, Neighborhood Watch volunteer George Zimmerman, had not yet been arrested, accused of murdering Trayvon Martin, a black 17-year-old.

A Seminole County jury acquitted George Zimmerman last year.

Shooting of Trayvon Martin – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

On the night of February 26, 2012, in Sanford, Florida, United States, George Zimmerman fatally shot Trayvon Martin, a 17-year-old African American high school student. George Zimmerman, a 28-year-old mixed-race Hispanic,[Note 1] was the neighborhood watch coordinator for the gated community where Martin was temporarily staying and where the shooting took place.[4][5][6] According to Zimmerman's subsequent testimony, Zimmerman shot Martin, who was unarmed, during an altercation between the two. Responding to an earlier call from Zimmerman, police arrived on the scene within two minutes of the shooting. Zimmerman was taken into custody, treated for head injuries, then questioned for five hours. The police chief said that Zimmerman was released because there was no evidence to refute Zimmerman's claim of having acted in self-defense, and that under Florida's Stand Your Ground statute, the police were prohibited by law from making an arrest.[7] The police chief also said that Zimmerman had had a right to defend himself with lethal force.[8] As news of the case spread, thousands of protestors across the country called for Zimmerman's arrest and a full investigation.[9] Six weeks after the shooting, amid widespread, intense, and in some cases misleading media coverage,[10][11] Zimmerman was charged with murder by a special prosecutor appointed by Governor Rick Scott.[12][13]

Zimmerman's trial began on June 10, 2013, in Sanford. On July 13, 2013, a jury acquitted him of second-degree murder and of manslaughter charges.[14]

She lived in The Retreat at Twin Lakes, a multi-ethnic gated community where Martin had visited several times before.[25][26]

Orlando production company announces 3 plays about Trayvon …

An Orlando-based theater production company will run three performances about Trayvon Martin during its 2014-15 season.

The Beth Marshall Presents company is calling the yearlong effort "The Trayvon Martin Project," and will work with Valencia College and Penguin Point Productions for some of the performances. Some of the money raised from the shows will be donated to the Trayvon Martin Foundation, officials said.

George Zimmerman shot and killed Trayvon Martin, an unarmed 17-year-old, in Sanford, Fla., in February 2012. The shooting and trial of Zimmerman drew national attention. Zimmerman was acquitted of murder in July.

The first part of the "The Trayvon Martin Project" runs Oct. 3 to Oct. 5 with six short plays and a poem "inspired by the tragic loss of Trayvon Martin," the company wrote on its website. Officials described the event further on the site saying, "The works carefully explore race relations and equality issues within our culture and specifically within the Central Florida community."

The second portion of "The Trayvon Martin Project" will run in February 2015 at Valenica College's east campus. The performance, titled "An Exploration," will also have a focus on Jordan Davis, the 17-year-old unarmed boy shot to death in a North Florida gas station parking lot over loud music. According to the company's website, this feature will "explore the waves and repercussionsfrom the Trayvon Martin and Jordan Davis incidents."

The final performance is slated to run for 50 minutes and is titled "Hoodies." Trayvon Martin was wearing a hoodie when he was shot. Organizers said the play will either be presented at the 2015 Fringe Festival or at The Venue in June 2015.

Mother of Trayvon Martin to speak at Kansas State

Sybrina Fulton, the mother of teen shooting victim Trayvon Martin, will speak at the Kansas State University Student Union on Tuesday, April 22.

Martin, 17, was fatally shot by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in February of 2012. Rallies and marches followed the teens death, prompting prosecutors to charge Zimmerman with second-degree murder and manslaughter. Zimmerman was acquitted of the charges in July, 2013.

Since her sons death, Fulton has become an advocate, speaking at college campuses and co-founding the Trayvon Martin Foundation, which seeks to raise awareness of gun violence.

Fulton will speak at 7 p.m. in Forum Hall. The event coordinator, Brandon Clark, said it will be educational and thought-provoking.

The Trayvon Martin case was huge, Clark said in a news release. Whenever its brought up, it stirs certain emotions and gets people to talk and debate. This debate is about understanding why we believe what we believe. It is about being open-minded.

The event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Student Governing Association and Alpha Phi Alpha, a historically black fraternity.
