Meghan McCain to Hillary Clinton on ‘The View’: ‘I got …

Hillary Clinton sounded off on a variety of hot-button issues during her appearance alongside her daughter, Chelsea, on Wednesday's episode of "The View."

The mother-daughter duo, who werepromoting their new book, "The Book of Gutsy: Favorite Stories of Courage and Resilience," discussed everything from the Trumpimpeachment inquiry, the president's "mental state," why Clinton thinks she lost the 2016 election and WikiLeaks, the discussion of which produced a bonding moment between her and Meghan McCain.

"I got into it with Pamela Anderson, I don't know if you saw, about Julian Assange," McCain told Clinton, alluding to her argument with the former "Baywatch" actress from early September over Assange, a close friend of Anderson.

"Thank you!" she responded in surprise.

"Because I cannot understand anyone defending WikiLeaks or Julian Assange at this point," McCain added.

In the discussion that ensued, the group discussed Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's recent comments about Elizabeth Warren and Clinton called WikiLeaks "an instrument of Russian intelligence" during the 2016 election. She also called Facebook "careless."

Another moment during the Clintons' appearance on the ABC daytime hit came when they discussed Trump and his "mental state."

"I do think that he knows he's an illegitimate president and because of that he's very insecure about it," she declared. "He's obsessed with the fact that he was helped a lot in unprecedented ways [in the 2016 election]. [...] He accuses other people of doing what he does, and I didn't understand that projection originally. It was so odd. [...] That's a central part of his personality."

In another candid moment, the former Secretary of State for the Obama administration opened up further about her loss in the 2016 presidential election, admitting that she "probably came across as too serious" at the time."

"I really believed that my job, especially as a woman and the first woman to go as far as I did, that I had to help people feel good about a woman in the Oval Office," she admitted. "I may have overcorrected a little bit. [...] I did feel a heavy sense of responsibility."

Other notable moments from Hillary and Chelsea's appearance on "The View" came when they were discussing their new book, which involved Hillary explaining why deciding to stay with her husband, Bill Clinton, following his infamous cheating scandal was the gutsiest thing she's ever done.

Ronan Farrow: Weinstein tried to use Hillary Clinton to …

In a bid to kill Ronan Farrow's expos on the sexual misconduct allegations against him, Harvey Weinstein reached out to his good friend Hillary Clinton.

In Farrow's new book "Catch and Kill", the journalist reveals an email he received from Clinton's publicist, Nick Merrill, in 2017.

It came as he was working on his Weinstein expos and trying to land an interview with Clinton for a different book he was writing on foreign policy.

In the email, Farrow said Merrill told him that the "big story" he was working on was a "concern for us."

Weinstein, a major Democratic Party donor, gave Clinton more than $26,000 in contributions since her initial Senate run in 2000, according to the Federal Election Commission.

Five days after The New York Times investigation on the movie producer's sexual misconduct was published in October 2017, Clinton issued a statement decrying his behavior.

"I was shocked and appalled by the revelations about Harvey Weinstein," the statement read."The behavior described by women coming forward cannot be tolerated. Their courage and the support of others is critical in helping to stop this kind of behavior."

She later said on CNN that she would donate the campaign contributions she received from Weinstein to charity.

The stories launched the #MeToo movement, and Weinstein was fired from the production company he founded and shunned from Hollywood.

Speaking to Insider on Tuesday, Farrow said that the headlines surrounding the Clinton story in his book have been "politicized."

"The allegation here is not that Hillary Clinton was seeking to squash the Weinstein story, but the conversation did happen. I do think people can interpret the fact how they will, whether she was nervous about associating with someone who was reporting on a friend of her's who held a lot of power and held the strings to a lot of fundraising," Farrow said.

When asked whether he thought Clinton was aware of Weinstein's pattern of abuse, Farrow said "there is no reason to believe that Hillary Clinton was aware of the worst and most specific allegations."

"However," he continued, "Lena Dunham and Tina Brown and others have given on the record interviews saying that they specifically warned Clinton's staff about Harvey Weinstein's reputation for predation in at least general terms. And said that he would likely be a liability."

"Years later, as I was working on this story, they were still working together and were collaborating on a potential documentary idea right up until the month before my story came out," Farrow added.

Farrow's book, "Catch and Kill: Lies, Spies, and a Conspiracy to Protect Predators," was published Tuesday.

Hillary Clinton’s toxic coronavirus commentary uses dead Americans as a political weapon – Washington Examiner

Imagine still being so bitter over the 2016 election that you use the tragic, lost lives of Americans to attack the man who beat you. Imagine being Hillary Clinton.

The former Democratic presidential nominee took to Twitter to attack President Trump over the fact that the United States now has the worlds highest number of confirmed coronavirus cases. (Note: This raw number is kind of a useless statistic we are not the highest when you look at cases relative to population size.) Over 2,000 U.S. citizens have died from the virus, but Clinton decided to make light of that fact to dunk on Trump.

He did promise America First, Clinton wrote in a glib tweet commenting on the skyrocketing number of cases of the potentially lethal virus.

Thats right, Clinton took what ought to be an apolitical national crisis and exploited it, in a manner tone-deaf to all the dead innocents whove lost their lives, to attack Trump. This even though, if you want to blame the virus on anyone, its the Communist Chinese regime that lied and covered it up, preventing the global community from keeping it contained and allowing it to become a full-blown pandemic.

Plus, theres a strong implication in Clintons tweet that if shed been put in charge, this wouldnt have happened. But theres little to suggest thats true at all. Remember, Clinton as secretary of state oversaw an absolute disaster in the aftermath of the attack on a U.S. consulate in Benghazi, helped launch a failed U.S. military intervention that turned Libya into a failed state, and carelessly handled classified information on her emails servers.

Clinton hasnt exactly proven herself a steady leader amid crisis. If anything, the opposite.

None of this is to say that President Trump's handling of the coronavirus crisis is off-limits to criticism. It's not, and I've criticized it myself in these pages. Some of Clinton's other tweets made valid criticisms of Trump's response in a reasonable enough manner. But her original tweet making light of the tragedy in a snide dunk is an absolutely classless way to go about this.

As Dana Loesch put it:

Sadly, though, this coronavirus commentary is pretty much par for the course from Clinton. Just like in 2016, when she derided voters who didnt support her as deplorable, the career politician has always shown an immense disgust for those who dare not worship her.

But guess what? Clinton lost, and even if shes not over it, most of the country is.

The failed candidate can keep using her social media platform to snipe at Trump and sneer at America, but ultimately, she is woefully, completely, and totally politically irrelevant. And no number of glib tweets will ever erase the bitterness Clinton is clearly consumed with as a result.

Trump Supporters Want Congress To Subpoena Dr. Faucis Phone to See If Hes Been Talking to Hillary Clinton – PoliticusUSA

Trump supporter Bill Mitchell wants Congress to issue a subpoena for Dr. Anthony Faucis phone and accused him of contact with Hillary Clinton.

Congress should subpoena Dr. Doom Faucis phone records and see how many times he has called Hillary in the past 60 days, Mitchell said on Twitter.

Mitchell has downplayed the severity of the Coronavirus since the global pandemic began. He has been on the fringes of the right since at least 2016 and has frequently attacked Dr. Fauci.

Mitchell is one of a number of conservative supporters of President Donald Trump who have painted Covid-19 as overblown or even a hoax.

Hes taken aim at Fauci as the doctor became a recognizable face in the pandemic response.

Mitchell is spreading baseless conspiracies about Fauci and the so-called Deep State, with predictable references to the 2016 Democratic presidential candidate.

There was a time when Dr. Doom Faucis prediction of mass death would have opened the markets down 1000. Has Chicken Little lost his mojo? Mitchell asked.

Mitchells comments may have been prompted by Dr. Faucis appearance on CNN on Monday. He explained how the pandemic response team had convinced Trump to extend social distancing measures beyond Easter.

We argued strongly with the President that he not withdraw those guidelines after 15 days, but that he extend them, Fauci said. And he did listen.

President Trump has reportedly grown tired of Dr. Fauci since the pandemic began. The President was unhappy with Fauci for correcting him and apparently criticizing him in media interviews.

However, Fauci has remained at the forefront of the Coronavirus response. Hes quickly become someone many Americans have come to trust during this crisis.

Hillary Rodham Clinton at the old ball game – Power Line

The MLB network is showing old baseball games every day. On Thursday, which was supposed to be Opening Day this year, it showed a bunch of Opening Day games from seasons past.

One of the games was the Chicago Cubs 1994 opener at Wrigley Field. In this game, Karl Tuffy Rhodes hit three home runs for the Cubs off of Dwight Gooden, ace of the New York Mets. Rhodes hit only ten other homers in his six year career. The Mets overcame Rhodess heroics to win 12-8.

Hillary Clinton attended the game. At the time, she was going by Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The Clintons worked Opening Day hard that year. Bill Clinton attended the Cleveland Indians opener against the visiting Seattle Mariners. As far as I know, Bill Clinton had scant interest in baseball, but Hillary held herself out as a loyal fan of the Cubs.

During the 1994 opener, she promoted that image. Early on, after throwing out the first pitch (not part of the MLB networks broadcast), she sat in a box seat wearing a Cubs jacket and cap. She then took a turn on the radio with Harry Caray and Ron Santo, and on television with Caray and Steve Stone.

She did not appear with Thom Brennaman, the other member of the broadcast team. Brennaman told Stone that Rodham Clinton probably wouldnt want to be on the air with him, although he did not intend to discuss policy with her. It sounded like Brennaman was a conservative. Politics aside, though, it was in Hillarys interest to maximize her time with the legendary Caray, as opposed to Brennaman who was early in his career.

During her time on television, the First Lady appeared to be a genuine and reasonably knowledgeable fan of the Cubs. She differed in this respect from Barack Obama, who touted himself as a White Sox fan but seemed to know next to nothing about the ball club (even though it had recently won the World Series). Hillary remarked that she enjoyed being on the radio with Santo, whose great playing career she had followed.

When Hillary touted her Chicago roots, Caray asked her why she didnt attend college at Northwestern. Hillary replied that Northwestern is a fine college, but she wanted to experience a different part of the country in her college years. Translated, I think this means she wanted to escape the Midwest and head to the Northeast, where the action was.

Hillary didnt have her Cubs cap on when she entered the television booth. Maybe she thought she looked better without it. Caray suggested that she put the cap on. She obliged.

Caray asked the First Lady to predict a winner in the upcoming NCAA Mens Basketball final between Arkansas and Duke. Clinton correctly picked Arkansas. Perhaps she said this out of loyalty to the state where she had lived. On the other hand, Hillary was done with Arkansas by 1994 and its not clear that she ever had much affection for the state.

As the seventh inning stretch approached, Caray asked Clinton if she would sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame. Caray was famous for leading the crowd in a raucous rendition of that song. She replied that she would sing it with him.

Unfortunately, the MLB network did not include this potential gem in its re-broadcast. However, a picture of the two singing accompanies this post on the home page. The event probably looks better than it sounded.

After the seventh inning, the cameras showed Clinton sitting in the bleachers (according to the announcers) surrounded by regular Cubs fans. Along with a contingent of worried Secret Service agents, I assume.

1994 was a terrible year for Hillary Rodham Clinton. Her proposed overhaul of our health care system failed and the Democrats were clobbered in the November election.

But at least the First Lady seems to have enjoyed her outing at the old ball game.
