Granddaughter of Hillary Clinton’s ‘Mentor’ Arrested in Anti-Israel Protests – Washington Free Beacon

The granddaughter of Hillary Clinton's mentor was arrested on felony burglary charges after she occupied a Stanford University building during anti-Israel protests last week.

Zoe Edelman, a rising senior and a managing editor of the Stanford Daily, was one of 13 students who barricaded themselves inside the Stanford president's office while demanding that the school divest from Israel, according to arrest records.

Edelman is the granddaughter of Children's Defense Fund founder Marian Wright Edelman, whom Hillary Clinton has called "my hero and mentor." Clinton interned with Marian Wright Edelman while studying at Yale Law School, and she later served on the board of the Children's Defense Fund.

"Adults can have mentors, too. I had one after I met Marian Wright Edelman during my first year of Yale Law School," Clinton wrote in The Person Who Changed My Life, a book on mentorship edited by Matilda Cuomo. "Marian, a civil rights lawyer and children's advocate, inspired my own commitment to justice."

Edelman's husband, Peter Edelman, served in the Department of Health and Human Services under President Bill Clinton, but he resigned in protest of the administration's welfare reform policies in 1996. Peter Edelman later served as president of the liberal New Israel Fund.

Zoe Edelman's father, Josh Edelman, was the longtime K-12 deputy director at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Photos show the Stanford student posing with Hillary Clinton at a gala in Washington, D.C., in 2022.

Zoe Edelman was part of a group calling itself "Liberate Stanford," which smashed a window and broke into the administration offices around 5:30 a.m. last Wednesday. After entering, group members began "knocking down interior doors to gain access to locked private offices," where they "damaged and vandalized offices and their contents," according to Stanford administrators.

"Surveillance video shows that a number of individuals entered the building but then left before the protestors who wanted to be arrested began barricading themselves inside," school officials said.

The activists barricaded themselves in the president's office for three hours. Arrest logs show that Edelman and 12 other students were taken into custody by Stanford police on felony burglary charges.

The news comes days after protesters caused extensive damage to campus buildings, including graffiti reading, "Death 2 America," "De@th 2 Isr@hell," and "kill cops," the Wall Street Journal reported.

The Clintons and the Edelmans have remained close despite some political disagreements in the 1990s. Marian Wright Edelman has called Clinton an "old friend" but criticized her economic policies as too conservative.

"Hillary Clinton is an old friend, but [the Clintons] are not friends in politics," Edelman said in a 2007 interview with Democracy Now. "We profoundly disagreed with the forms of the welfare reform bill, and we said so."

Hillary Clinton Endorses George Latimer Over NY Rep. Jamaal Bowman: ‘With Trump On The Ballot, We Need Strong … – Benzinga

In a significant political development, Hillary Clinton has thrown her support behind George Latimer, delivering a substantial setback to Rep. Jamaal Bowmans (D-N.Y.) reelection bid amid a contentious primary race marked by allegations of racism.

What Happened: The former Secretary of State took to X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday and said that With Trump on the ballot, we need strong, principled Democrats in Congress more than ever.

Clinton has endorsed George Latimer, striking a significant blow to Bowmans campaign. This high-profile endorsement comes amidst a heated primary and Bowmans recent accusations of racism against Latimer, reported Politico.

In Congress, [Latimer] will protect abortion rights, stand up to the NRA, and fight for President Biden's agendajust like he's always done.

Clintons endorsement is seen as pivotal in the increasingly contentious primary. Bowman, a member of The Squad, has faced criticism from Latimer for voting against the bipartisan infrastructure plan supported by President Joe Biden. Clintons support aligns with Latimers message of upholding Bidens agenda, including protecting abortion rights and challenging the NRA.

Bowman, who is seeking a third term, has been vocal about his stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict, drawing a clear line between his views and those of mainstream Democrats. This has become a focal point in the primary, with Latimers campaign bolstered by significant funding from pro-Israel AIPAC.

In response to Clintons backing, Latimer expressed that her endorsement adds momentum to his grassroots campaign, emphasizing a commitment to community service and core values. The announcement precedes the early voting period for the primary, with Latimer also securing support from local leaders and labor groups.

Why It Matters: Clintons endorsement of George Latimer not only influences the immediate primary but also reflects broader Democratic Party dynamics. Clinton has been outspoken against the potential return of Donald Trump to the presidency. In April, she criticized Trump for admiring authoritarian leaders and suggested he would emulate their tactics if re-elected.

Later in May, Clinton accused Trump of attempting to bribe fossil fuel CEOs to dismantle Bidens climate initiatives. Her endorsement of Latimer, who supports Bidens agenda, can be seen as part of her broader effort to oppose Trumps influence and policies.

Clintons recent comments underscore the stakes of the upcoming elections, where she has emphasized the importance of electing Democrats who will protect key policies and stand against opposition figures like Trump.

‘The View’ Hosts React to Hillary Clinton Criticizing Democrats on Abortion – Newsweek

The hosts of "The View" on Tuesday reacted to former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton speaking out about the Democratic party's shortcomings and the state of the upcoming election.

Clinton called out her party for not passing laws to protect Roe v. Wade in an interview with The New York Times published over the holiday weekend.

"We didn't take it seriously, and we didn't understand the threat," Clinton told the Times. "Most Democrats, most Americans, did not realize we are in an existential struggle for the future of this country."

Host Sara Haines shared Clinton's frustration with the Democratic party's inability to pass laws protecting Roe.

"Hillary Clinton was critical of Democrats for dropping the ball on not codifying Roe v. Wade. I've said that here before, it really bothers me," Haines said.

Haines accused both parties of using abortion as a campaign issue rather than actually looking for solutions.

"They use it when elections come around and then do nothing when they're in office," she said.

Clinton also gave credit to Republicans for being more "relentless" on issues that matter to them.

"They take a loss, they get back up, they regroup, they raise more money," the former presidential candidate said. "It's tremendously impressive the way that they operate. And we have nothing like it on our side."

Host Alyssa Farah Griffin agreed, arguing that Republicans have more consistent messaging and are rallying around former President Donald Trump.

"What I think Hillary Clinton hit on very brilliantly is the GOPs are much better at messaging around one message," Griffin said. "Trump says one crazy thing and people are lined up outside of a courtroom, they're willing to freeze on the court bench with him, they're saying it all over Fox News."

Griffin said Democrats have not been able to achieve that level of messaging consistency.

"I couldn't tell you today what Joe Biden's core campaign message is," Griffin said.

Host Sunny Hostin also said Republicans will follow their party more often than Democrats.

"They just fall in line and they've done that repeatedly," Hostin said. "I wish the Democrats did the same things."

In the Times interview, Clinton stressed how she seems the upcoming election as nothing short of a referendum on American democracy.

"If we don't make the right decision in this election in our country, we may never have another actual election. I will put that out there because I believe it," Clinton said. "And if we no longer have another actual election, we will be governed by a small minority of right-wing forces that are well organized and well funded and are getting exactly what they want in terms of turning the clock back on women."

Hostin pointed out that while the majority of Hispanic and Black women voted for Clinton in 2016, the majority of white women voted for Trump.

"There were 53% of white women that turned to Trump. I will never understand that statistic, actually," Hostin said. "And I hope that does not happen again. I think it's very, very important that people understand what an existential threat this man is to women in particular."

Host Whoopi Goldberg agreed with Hostin.

"I don't think there's a Democrat on the face of this earth who doesn't realize what a threat he is," Goldberg said.

‘The View’ co-hosts join Clinton in slamming women voters for 2016 loss: ‘Hope that does not happen again’ – Yahoo! Voices

Co-hosts of ABCs "The View" sympathized with 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clintons recent point that certain female voters abandoned her to support then-candidate Donald Trump.

Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar rebuked women voters particularly White women voters for choosing Trump over Clinton during Tuesdays episode of the ABC talk show.

"53% of White women turned to Trump. I will never understand that statistic actually and hope that does not happen again," Hostin said.

President Biden won a majority of women voters in 2020, which helped him oust Trump.

HILLARY CLINTON SLAMMED BY FELLOW DEMOCRAT FOR DISMISSIVE REMARKS ABOUT ANTI-ISRAEL PROTESTERS

The discussion around Clintons remarks started in the shows first segment, during which the hosts said Democratic Party voters need to take her warnings about Trumps potential re-election more seriously.

Hostin brought up Clintons specific point about women voters being the key group that failed to elect her in 2016.

"What was interesting to me with Hillary, she pointed to the sexism that was so obvious, because she was the most qualified candidate that I think weve ever had," she said. "Were talking senator, were talking Secretary of State, were talking lawyer, valedictorian of her class, I mean, just a brilliant woman."

"And what was disappointing to me, though, is she said, you know, women didnt turn out for me."

The comments Hostin referenced came during a recent New York Times interview with Clinton for the forthcoming book, "The Fall of Roe: The Rise of a New America."

During the interview, Clinton said female voters "left me because they just couldnt take a risk on me, because as a woman, Im supposed to be perfect. They were willing to take a risk on Trump who had a long list of, lets call them flaws because he was a man, and they could envision a man as president and commander in chief."

HILLARY CLINTON SLAMS YOUNG ANTI-ISRAEL PROTESTERS AS IGNORANT ON MIDDLE EAST: THEY DONT KNOW VERY MUCH'

"Well, you know, 90-some percent of Black women turned out for her, 60-something percent of Hispanic women that turned to her. 53% of White women turned to Trump," Hostin said. "I think its very, very important that people understand what an existential threat this man is to women in particular."

Behar agreed, stating that the same dynamic affected former President Obama.

"A lot of people, including women, think a woman running in that position has to be perfect. Its like Obama. It reminds me of the situation with Obama," she said.

"That guy is a perfect specimen in so many ways, you couldnt get a more perfect specimen and I mean, hes this very smart, he loves his wife, he was "

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin cut in with a joke, stating, "Just say you think hes sexy."

Biden to attend June fundraiser with Clintons hosted by Terry McAuliffe – Yahoo! Voices

President Joe Biden will attend a June fundraiser with former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that will be hosted by former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a source familiar told CNN.

Bill Clinton participated in Marchs fundraiser with Biden and former President Barack Obama at Radio City Music Hall in New York, which raked in $26 million. Both Bill and Hillary Clinton attended the state dinner at the White House last week honoring Kenyan President William Ruto, at which Obama also made a brief appearance.

The McAuliffe-hosted fundraiser, first reported by Axios, will come after Biden appears with Obama at a Los Angeles fundraiser with George Clooney and Julia Roberts.

Dorothy McAuliffe, Terry McAuliffes wife, is not involved, the source said. Biden appointed Dorothy McAuliffe in 2022 to serve as the special representative for global partnerships at the State Department.

Bidens fundraising slowed in April with his operation raising $51 million but his campaign and affiliated committees still ended the month with more money in the bank than former President Donald Trumps.
