Former top aide reveals Hillary Clinton wasn’t surprised Donald Trump won election – AOL News

A surprising admission from a former top aide revealed Hillary Clinton's reaction to the result of the 2016 presidential election.

Jennifer Palmieri was the communications director for Clinton's 2016 campaign, and she recently said her former boss was the least surprised member of the campaign that President Donald Trump came out on top.

Donald Trump stunned America and the world, riding a wave of populist resentment to defeat Hillary Clinton in the race to become the 45th president of the United States. The Republican mogul defeated his Democratic rival, plunging global markets into turmoil and casting the long-standing global political order, which hinges on Washington's leadership, into doubt.

"I think she's one of the people who's least surprised that she lost," said Palmieri. The former top aide told CBS News that Clinton was saddened by the loss but not astounded.

She said Clinton was ready for a brutal campaign and added that the former secretary of state decided to run because "she thought she was the person who could best be president."

Hillary Clinton was expected to take center stage in Voguesupcoming March issue, but after her election loss to President Donald Trump, the former Secretary of State was replaced!

As Radar readers know, the new Vogue cover features a diverse array of supermodels instead, including Gigi Hadid, Ashley Graham, Kendall Jenner, Liu Wen, Imaan Hammam, Adwoa Aboah, and Vittoria Ceretti.

New York Times features writer Jacob Bernstein posted a photo of the cover on Twitter earlier this week, writing: Vogues March issue was going to feature Hillary Clinton in the cover. That didnt quite work out

Though he later deleted the tweet, Bernstein wasnt alone on the matter. Fast Company had also reported a Clinton cover that ultimately fell through.

The idea to have Clinton on the cover of the upcoming power issue was ultimately tabled in the wake of her election defeat its not clear if that was Clintons decision or the magazines and the editors spent weeks scrambling to find a replacement, the publication wrote.

Vogues editor-in-chief Anna Wintour made no mention of the potential diss to Clinton when discussing the magazines 125th anniversary.

I think women have been on everybodys mind after recent results, she said of the March cover. It seemed to us that it was time to celebrate and be positive and optimistic and say, look at all these incredibly talented people we have working not only in fashion but in every possible walk of life.'

Hillary Clinton tweets ‘3-0’ as Trump ‘SEE YOU IN COURT’ becomes meme – The Guardian

Another day, another Trump tweet.

On Thursday, judges in the ninth circuit court of appeals upheld a temporary restraining order on Donald Trumps controversial travel ban on arrivals from seven Muslim-majority countries. In response, almost immediately after the ruling was announced, the president tweeted (with caps lock engaged):

And because we live in the darkest timeline, there was even a special Instagram version of see you in court on Trumps official account. In caps too, obviously:

For some, see you in court was a bit baffling, given that Trump had just lost in, er, court.

Its likely that he meant a supreme court appeal, but either way, that didnt stop mockers from turning SEE YOU IN COURT into a meme:

All in all, 2017 is just kind of baffling:

One mischievous tweeter stands out. That is, former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, who used just three characters of the 140 available to her. Either referring to the three-strong panel of judges unanimous verdict, or more likely the three times the travel ban has been successfully blocked, Clinton tweeted:

As the Daily Dot noted this week, we are entering a golden age of Trump memes and we arent even 100 days into his presidency. Earlier this week, presumably in response to increasing reports of chief strategist Steve Bannons influence in the White House, the president tweeted:

Which then became a meme:

And an extremely popular account called @TrumpDraws has amassed more than 300,000 followers by re-imagining those executive orders:
