Former President Donald Trump announced at a campaign event on Thursday that he is retiring the Crooked nickname for Hillary Clinton and will instead be using it going forward for President Joe Biden.

I will be retiring the name Crooked from Hillary Clinton and her moniker, and Im going to give her a new name, I dont know, like maybe Lovely Hillary or Beautiful Hillary, but Im going to retire the name Crooked because he will be known from now on as Crooked Joe Biden, Mr Trump said.

The watching crowd cheered and whistled. Mr Trump then speculated that Ms Clinton would be celebrating the announcement. He then launched a sizeable accusation at Mr Biden, the candidate who beat him handily in both the popular vote and the Electoral College in 2020.

Theres never been anyone in the history of American politics so crooked or dishonest as Joe Biden, and the press absoultely refuses to report it all that press back there because, frankly, theyre just as crooked as he is, and they are, Mr Trump said.

Mr Trump did not cite any evidence backing up his assertion that Mr Biden is the most corrupt actor in American political history.

Mr Trump himself is currently under federal indictment for allegedly facilitating a hush money payoff to an adult film star to stay quiet about an affair and help his election odds. Hes also under investigation for attempts to overturn the result of the 2020 in what experts have described as a failed self-coup.

Nevertheless, Mr Trump remains the frontrunner for the Republican nomination for president for a third campaign cycle in a row and he was eager to preview a potential rematch with Mr Biden in his remarks on Thursday.

The choice in this election is now between strength and weakness, between success and failure, between safety and anarchy, between peace and conflict and prosperity or catastrophe, Mr Trump said. We are living in a catastrophe.

It is not at all clear whether Mr Trumps forecasted efforts to define Mr Biden as corrupt will be successful. When Mr Trump began calling Ms Clinton crooked during the 2016 election, she was under a high-profile investigation over her email use as Secretary of State and had been relentlessly connected for years in the right-wing media to myriad scandals dating back to her husbands presidential administration.

But where Ms Clinton and former President Barack Obama often solicited strong feelings from voters, Mr Biden, a white man, has not been a lightning rod in the same way. Mr Biden announced earlier this week that he is officially running for re-election.

Those are no actors. Theyre President Joe Biden and former … – PolitiFact

President Joe Biden launched his reelection campaign April 25, but a Facebook video shared the day before would have people believe the man leading the U.S. for the last two years is an impostor.

"There is no Biden presidency," the April 24 video says. "The real Biden was executed for his crimes long ago along with Clinton."

The video claims Biden and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were replaced with a rotating stable of actors, some of whom wear masks when out in public as the politicians.

"That's why Biden keeps referring to himself as the 'mask president,'" the video says.

This post was flagged as part of Facebooks efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook.)

The video provides no evidence to back its claims, but it does mention debunked QAnon conspiracy theories and the false claim the 2020 election was stolen.

Biden is clearly alive. On April 26, he hosted South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and his first lady Kim Keon Hee at a state dinner. On April 27, he appeared on the White House lawn for a public Take Our Kids To Work Day event.

Clinton was widely photographed with her husband, former-President Bill Clinton during an April 17 visit to Belfast, Northern Ireland to mark the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, which ended 30 years of violent conflict there.

We rate this claim Pants on Fire!

Letter: On integrity in reporting – Daily Herald

A recent letter assault on the integrity of Daily Herald reporting began by questioning the integrity of the "high-minded" Managing Editor for Opinion, ("Newspaper's 'integrity' often missing in reports," Your Views, April 24). The letter went on to question reporting on the "wholly disproven 'Russian collusion' hoax," as well as a front-page headline "Scope of Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' law expanded."

To the best of my knowledge, the "Russian collusion" hoax was not disproven by right-wing writers such as Fox News analyst Gregg Jarrett with his 2018 book "The Russia Hoax: The Illicit Scheme to Clear Hillary Clinton and Frame Donald Trump." On the contrary, according to the following October 9, 2020, Factcheck Post: President Trump and his supporters on social media are citing unverified "Russian intelligence" from 2016 as evidence that Hillary Clinton "was behind the entire Russian collusion hoax." But that so-called intelligence is largely a reflection of publicly available information at the time. Federal investigations since then have documented multiple links between Trump associates and individuals tied to the Russian government.

To his credit, the writer was correct in saying that the phrase "Don't Say Gay" is nowhere in the Florida law. Nonetheless, the Parental Rights and Education Act (HB 1557) is commonly known among Floridians, as well as by other news organizations, by that much more descriptive phrase.

Based on my more than 50 years of reading the Herald, with the rare exception of some readers' comments, I have yet to see the newspaper publish claims that are patently false.

Does Biden have an in-party problem when it comes to age? – KEYE TV CBS Austin

For President Joe Biden, will it be a simple walk in the park to win the Democratic nomination this time or will his age, currently 80 and the oldest president in history, hurt him?

He took jabs at his own longevity this weekend.

But not everyone is as amused, including Democrat voters -- 51% of whom in a recent NBC News poll said they dont want Biden on the ballot, almost half citing his age as a major reason.

ABC News spoke to voters who supported Biden in the past, about their current concerns.

You voted for him in 2020. What gives you pause if youre having some pause? The voter replied, Well, obviously, age.

Although that doesnt mean they wont still vote for him, suggested another voter.

What do you like about Joe Biden? The response, Uh, that hes not Trump.

Trump, who's not much younger at age 76, is also trying to paint Biden as too old.

It could be one reason Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., hardly considered a "mainstream" Democrat, is polling at 19 percent in this early stage, primary challenge of Biden.

Although Kennedy, nor Marianne Williamson, another Biden opponent, may get the chance to debate Biden after the DNC announced it wont hold any debates in the 2024 primaries.

Well, I think its troubling if we dont have debates, said Kennedy. At this point in history there are so many Americans that believe our democracy is broken, that the system is rigged against them.

In an interview, Williamson said shes "disappointed, certainly, because I believe in democracy. I believe that the political parties should stay out of the issue until the primary voters have weighed in. She added, I dont think the DNC should be dictating from on high that they will try to invisibilize any other candidates. I believe in the process of democracy.

And just because the party tries to clear a path for a particular candidate --like in 1992 with George H. W. Bush or on 2016 with Hillary Clinton -- doesnt mean voters wont want to see who else is out there.

Joe Biden, Bill and Hillary Clinton Gifted Extremely Rare Irish Whiskey – Whiskey Raiders

A group of extremely notable politicians gathered in Belfast, Ireland, earlier this month for the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.

To celebrate, Irish whiskey brand Kirker Greer created six bottles of a 25-year-old blended whiskey named The Spirit of Agreement and gifted it to six influential politicians who were visiting Belfast: U.S. President Joe Biden, former U.S. President Bill Clinton, former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, U.S. Special Envoy to Northern Ireland Joe Kennedy and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

This is a monumental occasion in Northern Ireland and it made sense as a Belfast-based blending company to celebrate this 25th anniversary with our own unique release of a 25-year-old blended malt Irish whiskey, Kirker Irish whiskey curator Richard Ryan said, according to the Irish News.

The bottles were housed in presentation boxes, which were presented by Kirker at Hasting Hotels.

The Spirit of Agreement is a special edition of Kirker Greer Shamrock Irish whiskey, which is a blend comprising whiskey stocks from each of Irelands four provinces.

For The Spirit of Agreement, the four malt whiskeys making up the blend were aged 25 years in bourbon, Port, oloroso and marsala casks before being blended in Belfast.

Were proud that our whiskey emulates the principles of the Good Friday Agreement each expression has its own history but together they harmonise to create something even more wonderful, Ryan said.

Kirker Greer first released Shamrock in March 2022.

The Good Friday Agreement, aka Belfast Agreement, was signed on April 10, 1998, to end most of the violence of the Troubles, a conflict in Northern Ireland that lasted about 30 years.
