Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is the latest international leader to condemn the kidnapping of nearly 300 schoolgirls in Nigeria, an act she called "abominable."

The girls were taken by Boko Haram, an Islamic extremist group in the country, and the Nigerian government does not know where they are even though more than two weeks have passed.

The kidnapping was "abominable, criminal, an act of terrorism and really merits the fullest response possible first and foremost from the government of Nigeria," Clinton said in an interview with ABC's Robin Roberts Wednesday.

She had previously posted a message on her Twitter account, reading, "Access to education is a basic right & an unconscionable reason to target innocent girls. We must stand up to terrorism." It is a reference Boko Haram's objections to women receiving education.

Clinton added at the event that the Nigerian government has been "somewhat derelict in its responsibility" to protect children in the country, and need to "make it a priority."

President Obama has called the kidnapping "awful" and sent in a team of U.S. military, law enforcement and other experts to help the Nigerian government. The team includes hostage negotiators and intelligence experts.

The kidnapping has sparked worldwide outrage and launched a social media campaign using the hash tag, #BringBackOurGirls. First lady Michelle Obama posted a picture of herself on Twitter holding a sign with those words written on it.

During the interview, Clinton was also asked about the renewed congressional investigation into the 2012 attacks on the U.S. diplomatic facility in Benghazi and whether she was "satisfied with the answers" she had received in other assessments of how the attack happened.

"Absolutely," Clinton replied. "Of course there are a lot of reasons why, despite all of the hearings, all of the information that's been provided, some choose not to be satisfied and choose to continue to move forward. That's their choice and I do not believe there is any reason for it to continue in this way, but they get to call the shots in the Congress."

During an event in New York City on Wednesday, Hillary Clinton was asked the predicable question about 2016 but in an unpredictable way.

Were you to run for president in 2016, would you consider Elizabeth Warren or Julian Castro for your running mate? ABCs Robin Roberts asked Clinton, referring to her potential vice president pick should she seek the presidency, which she has yet to do.

Oh my goodness, Clinton responded, seeming surprised.

Clinton wouldnt answer the hypothetical, but conceded the tactic was pretty original.

Ive been asked this question many different ways, she said, to audience laughter. This is one of the cleverest.

Clinton continued to praise both the Democratic politicians, saying they are extraordinary leaders who she admires greatly.

But Robin Roberts pressed a little harder, and questioned the former secretary of state, who has the potential to become the first female president of the United States should she run and win, about her role in breaking glass ceilings.

When I look at your Twitter pagethe last thing you list is saying youre a glass ceiling cracker and no one feels it would be better to crack that glass ceiling than to have a woman as president, Roberts said, to audience applause, adding Many believe that should be you.

But even then Clinton, literally, didnt crack.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said at a conference in Maryland Tuesday that she's still not sure whether or not she'll run for president. She did, however, have some advice for voters.

"Don't ever vote for someone who proudly says he or she will never compromise," Clinton told the audience at a conference on mental health and addiction, sponsored by the National Council for Behavioral Health, during a question-and-answer session.

"That's the way they are in Iran, and that's the way Putin increasingly is in Russia," Clinton said, when discussing how debates over issues like income inequality stall in Washington.

"Unless a certain group of people have all the truth... you've got to compromise," she said.

"Secondly," Clinton said with respect to politicians unwilling to compromise, "don't give them any money... Find someone in your party who's sensible."

Compromising has become more difficult on Capitol Hill, she said, because lawmakers spend so much time fundraising outside of Washington.

"It's very difficult for our current political leaders, particularly members of Congress, to get to know each other," she said. "I think that the mad chase for dollars in the political campaign, our fundraising necessities... really keep people out of Washington... They don't ever connect the way they used to."

Clinton spoke about her own political battles, including her struggle to lead health care reform efforts as first lady in the early 1990s. She noted that before she took on health care at the White House, she had led education reform efforts as first lady of Arkansas. However, she said the fight over health care reform was coarser.

"Who knew Washington was so much more conservative when it came to women doing things like this... than Arkansas," she said. "We had a very controversial education reform, but it was never personalized."

After President Bill Clinton appointed her to lead the Task Force on National Health Care Reform in 1993, Clinton said that then-Gov. Mario Cuomo, D-N.Y., joked to her, "I can't tell if your husband really likes you or really hates you."
