Trailer for the US Inbetweeners remake revealed!

It is one of E4s most successful shows so we can understand why MTV might have thought it would be a good idea to try and make their own version across the pond.

But the new trailer hints that the US version is trying a bit too hard to be like our beloved Inbetweeners.

The new cast are shown doing exactly the same scenes and jokes as the British version, which is weird because were pretty sure American teens are nothing like Simon and his crew.

We can give them the awful yellow car but recycling the bucket on the head scene, the Simon character spray-painting I love you Carli DAmato on his crushs drive and the knee sliding across the dancefloors is just not fun.

Next thing we know they be shouting clunge or bus wanker!

While The Office remake worked well, attempts to remake Skins fell flat so we cant help but wonder if they should have just left The Inbetweeners in all its brit glory.

The Inbetweeners will debut on MTV in the US on August 20. Check out the trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSCaEijMx3U

Do you think the remake looks any good?

MTV teases its ‘Inbetweeners’ reboot

I've written several times about The Inbetweeners, the raunchy British teen comedy that ran from 2008-2010.

Next month MTV premieres an American version of the hilarious show. And while I know the network has a shady history with British imports (remember MTV's short-lived Skins?) I've actually been hearing good things about this reboot.

Like its U.K. counterpart, MTV's Inbetweeners follows a group of guys trying to make their way through high school. It was adapted by Brad Copeland, whose credits include Arrested Development and My Name Is Earl, and the pilot was directed by Flight of the Conchords' Taika Waititi, so those are two more signs the show might deliver the goods.

Watch a trailer for the series over at MTV.com. (The language is a little spicy, but it's nothing compared with the British series!)

As for our favorite Brits, they all return in the Inbetweeners movie, slated for a September release. You can watch the saucy red-band trailer, but I'd advise you to put on headphones first.

MTV's The Inbetweeners premieres Aug. 20 at 10:30 p.m. ET. Check out the cast:

‘The Inbetweeners’ USA remake – First trailer released

MTV has released the first trailer for the US remake of The Inbetweeners.

Featuring several familiar scenes and set-ups from the classic E4 comedy series, Bubba Lewis (Simon), Joey Pollari (Will), Mark L Young (Neil) and Zack Pearlman (Jay) star as the four teenagers struggling to be cool and get girls at school.

Joe Thomas, Simon Bird, Blake Harrison and James Buckley made the British version a hit with three series and a movie between 2008 and 2011.

The Inbetweeners will debut on MTV in the US on August 20, while the British big-screen version will receive a Stateside release on September 7.

Watch an interview with the Inbetweeners US cast below:

Will ‘The Inbetweeners’ get lost across the Atlantic?

Do they know what "clunge" is in North Dakota? We're soon to find out, with MTV's long-mooted cross-Atlantic adaptation of The Inbetweeners being unveiled on 20 August. A trailer for the show, adapted by the E4 version's creators Iain Morris and Damon Beasley, was revealed earlier this month by MTV (whose recent version of another E4-made hit, Skins, proved controversial, though poorly received).

So how do the US Inbetweeners compare to Will McKenzie and Co? There's not much in it, judging by the trailer. Some of the characters may have slightly different names (Simon becomes Todd), but some things remain broadly similar, if slightly better looking. There's knee sliding across dancefloors, the Simon character spray-painting "I love you Carli D'Amato" across the drive of his long-time crush and of course that terrible little yellow car.

This repetition isn't a bad sign, though the first US series of The Office was a nearly line-for-line remake of the Ricky Gervais version, but blossomed into one of the best and longest-running sitcoms of the past decade. But whether the Inbetweeners phrase "bus wanker" will translate is another matter.
