A Wyoming woman died on Monday after driving her car into an Osceola County retention pond.
According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, Mary Arbour, 64, was driving a 2006 Honda SUV when she stopped on the northbound shoulder of U.S. Highway 192 near Bill Beck Boulevard. Others drivers who thought she was disabled stopped to assist her and noticed she was having a medical problem, FHP reports said.
As witnesses called 911, Arbour drove forward, left the roadway and drove into a nearby retention pond. Several people jumped into the water to try to rescue her. But the vehicle submerged and Arbour was trapped inside until rescue divers arrived and pulled her from the car.
She was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
A dog in the car was rescued and taken Osceola County Animal Services
The crash remains under investigation.

The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity has essentially rejected former Osceola County School Board member Cindy Hartigs claim for unemployment benefits.
In an update from the School District obtained earlier this week, the claim, which the district appealed on March 8, the state said the claim was determined to hold insufficient wage credits by definition, a lack of sufficient work or earnings in covered employment in Florida during the base period to establish a monetarily eligible claim.
School District spokesperson Dana Schafer said its Human Resources department said the claim should have initially been rendered invalid due to the lack of credits.
FDOE Appeals Referee Susan Williams told the district in the document that since it is no longer affected adversely by this claim, there is no need for an appeal and will be dismissed.
According to the Dismissal of Reemployment Assistant Appeal notice, Hartig now has 20 calendar days to file an appeal of her own, or the decision becomes final.
In the appeal submitted to the state by School Board Attorney Gary Glassman, he noted that the district did not exercise control over her work or that of any other board members nor did it supply Ms. Hartig with the instrumentalities for doing her work as a typical employer would, meaning she would not be entitled to unemployment benefits from the School District.
Hartig was defeated by by Tim Weisheyer in the August 2012 election for the district seat 3. She ran unopposed in winning the seat in the 2008 election.

St. Cloud High is in the market for a football coach again after Brad Lennox resigned Tuesday morning.
Lennox declined to give a specific reason for his resignation to Principal Nate Fancher.
"It was a series of little things during and after the season. I can tell you that it wasn't anything to do with effort. Anyone who knows me knows that I put full effort into the job," he said.
Lennox said he will address the team Wednesday.
Lennox took over the Bulldogs program in the spring of 2012. The former St. Cloud, Gateway and Osceola assistant coach vowed to bring consistency to the program, which has had five coaching changes since 2010.
Fancher said Athletic Director Mike Hague will lead the search for the next football coach. Fancher said he wants to solicit input from the faculty, booster club and community while making the decision.

There is one remaining defendant Marcus Faella in the American Front case in Osceola County, as Patricia Faella and Dylan Rettenmaier were nolle prosequi (state did not pursue charges) on all counts in open court today, according to an Osceola County Clerk of Court press release. The presiding judge was Jon. B. Morgan.
Patricia Faella, Marcus wife, and Dylan Rettenmaier , were both accused of participating in paramilitary training and other crimes.
Marcus Faella, accused of teaching paramilitary training and other crimes, is set for jury trial tentatively May 6. Pre-trial for Marcus Faella is set for April 23.
Three co-defendants have already been sentenced in this case:
Christopher Brooks pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and received three years in prison.
Luke Leger pleaded nolo contendere to participating in paramilitary training and received four years of probation.
Kent Ryan McLellan pleaded nolo contendere to participation in paramilitary training and received four years of probation. McLellan on March 25 requested he be allowed to withdraw his nolo contendere plea but Judge Morgan rejected that request. McLellan previously had petitioned to withdraw the plea but claims he was not notified of the hearing date due to a change of address that he claims was never recorded by the Public Defenders office. McLellan was given 30 days to appeal the ruling.
