Animal Services offering dog, cat free ride home with new county program
County News Wednesday, 27 March 2013 12:33
Osceola County Animal Services has introduced a new program called Free Ride Home.
Any dog or cat that is found running loose, but is wearing a current Osceola County license tag, will be delivered to the owner by an animal control officer, if the owner can be reached. In situations where the owner cannot be reached, the pet will be brought to the animal shelter. Owners who reclaim their pets within 24 hours of impoundment only will be charged half the usual fees.
This new program does not apply in bite situations, repeat offenses by the same owner, or in situations where public safety is compromised. In case the pet does escape from the home, make sure an Osceola County license tag is worn at all times, Animal Services officials said
For more information about pet licensing, contact Osceola County Animal Services at 407-742-8000.
If you are looking to adopt a pet, check the adoptable pets on the Osceola County Animal Services website at http://www.osceola.org/go/pets. Osceola County Animal Services also is on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/OsceolaCountyAnimalServices. The shelter is at 3910 Old Canoe Creek Road in St. Cloud.
