Osceola Sheriff’s Office apprehends burglary, sexual battery suspect

Scott

Osceola County Sheriffs Office detectives arrested and charged a Poinciana man with armed burglary and sexual battery after he entered the victims home through an unlocked door.

Sheriffs detectives arrested Lyndon DeLeon Scott, 20, of 741 Leonardo Court, Poinciana, on Tuesday and charged him with armed burglary, armed sexual battery, false imprisonment, battery and depriving a victim of 911. Scott was brought in for questioning and initially cooperated with detectives. He told them he entered the victims home but did not admit to the sexual battery. The victim was able to positively identify the suspect. Based on the information, Scott was booked into the Osceola County Jail.

On Jan. 14, at approximately 8:56 a.m., deputies responded to a residence on Lucaya Drive in Poinciana. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the victim who said at 7 a.m., an unknown black male, later identified as Scott, came to her door and continuously rang the doorbell.

The victim looked out the window and recognized Scott as someone who had previously come to her residence to request to use the telephone, Sheriffs Office reports said. The victim did not answer the door but was frightened so, she hid in her residence. Scott allegedly entered her home through an unlocked back door and forced her to perform a sex act. Scott then left the home.

Kissimmee SWAT takes top 10 finish in international contest

By Brian McBride Editor

A Kissimmee Police Department specialized law enforcement team recently swatted most of the competition at a recent international contest that put its training to the test.

The Kissimmee Police Departments SWAT team placed eighth at the SWAT Round Up International Competition that ran in December at the Orange County Sheriffs Office gun range in Orlando.

Fifty-one teams from around the United States and Europe competed at the event.

It included the Osceola County Sheriffs Office, the Orange Sheriffs Office and the Orlando Police Department. The Kissimmee agency bested all three.

Were very proficient at what we do, said Kissimmee Police Sgt. Jeffrey Tambasco and SWAT team commander. We only accept the best the agency has to offer.

The competition included events such as a hostage rescue, tower scramble, officer rescue and an obstacle course, scoring well in all of the events, police officials said.

Kissimmees SWAT team is a part-time specialty unit that has more than 20 members, and of those, eight make up the competition team.

The team trains twice a month to stay sharp and ready for the call of duty.
