Jacksonville teen arrested in attack of disabled man in 'Knockout Game'
A 16-year-old Arlington Hills teen was arrested Friday on a charge of abuse of a disabled adult after a man with a cane became the victim of an apparent Knockout Game in February at a gas station on Merrill Road, according to the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office.
The teen, of South Sandhurst Road, was arrested after security camera video from a nearby store captured him in a group of teens at the same time as the Feb. 4 attack, the Sheriffs Office said.
The disabled 48-year-old victim was using the cane to stand as he pumped gas at the 7103 Merrill Road Hess station when he was hit in the face, police said. His condition was not provided, but the 16-year-old is listed as 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds.
The teens cellphone also was confiscated. It contained multiple videos of juveniles walking up to unsuspecting people and punching them, an activity labeled the Knockout Game, police said.
The Times-Union is not identifying the teen because of his age and unknown seriousness of the victims injuries.
