Pollock claims dodging failure reminders will end Proteas' 23-year WC win drought

Former South Africa captain Shaun Pollock has claimed that the current squad is going to have to dodge the reminders of failing to win a knockout game in 23 years that would come falling once the team reaches the last-eight round of the World Cup this year.

And as much as the current team would be trying to ignore it, the former South African all-rounder has said that it's only a matter of time before the baggage is rehashed, News.com.au reported.

Pollock said that once South Africa gets into the knock out stages all the reminders would come -from the press, from teams, so he added that they're going to have to try and dodge that.

Pollock claimed that it's a bit unfortunate because it's baggage that comes from the past and some of these guys weren't involved at all.

He added that one always feel it would be nice to let them get on and produce the best skills they can in the tournament and not have to worry about all that, but insisted that opposition teams would use it to their advantage and they are going to have to deal with that.

Pollock said that hopefully from South Africa's perspective this can be the team that puts it to bed.

Judging by South Africa's poor performance against India it's difficult to see them going on to win the trophy, but Pollock insists he has a good feeling about their chances as long as their key players perform, starting against the West Indies at the SCG on Friday.
