Ekiti APC distributes 250,000 copies of rigging tape

March 19, 2015 : Kamarudeen Ogundele, Ado Ekiti 90 Comments

The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State said it has printed and distributed 250,000 copies of audio and video recordings of the details of how the June 21, 2014 governorship election was allegedly rigged in favour of Governor Ayodele Fayose.

A statement by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Taiwo Olatubosun, said the recording revealed a grand conspiracy coordinated by some officers of the Nigerian Army.

According to him, the party took the step to let the world know the truth about Ekiti election miracle where a governor, with unrivaled sterling performance, failed to win a single local government out of the 16 in the state, including his own, to give victory to a man, who two years earlier, lost a senatorial election in the state.

The statement said, Details of corrupt practices by soldiers as contained in the tape lends credence to the inclusion of the military as a defendant at the Ekiti State Election Petitions Tribunal, challenging the return of Fayose as the winner of the election.

In the tape secretly recorded by Army Captain Sagir Koli, voices of the participants in the election fraud were heard talking about operational details and giving instructions on how to help Fayose win the election. Koli went on exile after releasing the tape.

Another group, an NGO, had two weeks ago produced 200,000 copies and distributed them around the world with copies sent to the United Nations, African Union and ECOWAS secretariats.

Nigerians and indeed decent people of the world will hear of how a Brigadier-General in the Nigerian Army was thoroughly disgraced by brigands and lawless individuals in PDP who should ordinarily quiver when an army corporal gives orders.

Nigerians will hear a Brigadier-General talking of how he set up Strike Forces to be unleashed on APC leaders and supporters to cow them to submission to ensure victory for Fayose.

It is a pity and tragedy of our history that a man who is supposed to be in chains and drilled in frog jump by a Nigerian Army recruit for his crime is the one assuring a serving Brigadier-General in the Nigerian Army of promotion if he could help PDP in the dishonourable enterprise of poll fraud in favour of a man with several alleged criminal cases in courts. Nigerians will hear Fayose and other co-conspirators talking and boasting that the top echelons of the Nigerian Army and their Commander-In-Chief were the chief executioners of Ekiti poll fraud. The world will hear Fayose talking about how he collected soft copies of INECs sensitive election materials and got them printed to give him victory.

APC protests alleged police bias in Rivers

Supporters of All Progressives Congress from the 23 local governments in Rivers State on Thursday urged the police command to be fair to all political parties.

Mr Orji Ngofa, Caretaker Committee Chairman of Eleme Local Government, made the call in Port Harcourt when members of the party staged a peaceful protest to the headquarter of the state police command.

He appealed to the state police commissioner, Mr Dan Bature, to give equal treatment to all political parties.

Ngofa, who applauded the police for its role in maintaining peace and order, noted that many APC members were being haunted by the police.

He explained that it was very unfair for the police to arrest APC supporters without concrete reasons, adding that it was time to address the problem.

The chairman called for a level playing ground where all political parties would enjoy equal police protection for free, fair and credible elections.

Responding, the commissioner said the police would continue to be neutral in the discharge of its duties.

Bature assured the protesters of the police readiness to reduce crime and other offences to the barest minimum in the state.

He said the police would not relent in charting the course of justice irrespective of whose ox was gored.

Whether PDP, APC, APGA or any other political party, that is found wanting, must be made to face the wrath of the law, Bature said.

APC alleges planed kidnap of leaders in Rivers LG

The All Progressives Congress has said the forthcoming general elections may not be peaceful in Okrika and Ogu/Bolo Local Government Areas of Rivers State due to alleged plan by the Peoples Democratic Party to use security agencies to arrest its leaders and sympathisers before the election day.

They also alleged, without accusing anybody or group in particular, that at least 10 of its leaders in the two local government areas might be kidnapped before the election day.

Chairmen of the APC in the two local government areas, Christian Asifamaka (APC Okrika) and Chief Israel Iboms (APC Ogu/Bolo),said this in a petition to the National Human Rights Commission.

The petition, titled, RE: Threat to peaceful elections in Okrika and Ogu/Bolo Local Government Areas of Rivers State, Nigeria read in part, Now the PDP and its Abuja authority have finalised plans to prevent the APC in these LGAs from voting in the forthcoming elections.

This, they intended by using all the security agencies to arrest our leaders, party agents and community leaders who are sympathetic to APC a few days before the elections on false charges.

Jegas summons, plot to compromise INEC APC

Alhaji Lai Mohammed

The All Progressives Congress has said the Presidents decision to summon INEC Chairman Attahiru Jega to a meeting that was not attended by other political parties in Abuja on Tuesday is part of ongoing moves to compromise the integrity of the electoral commission, which is expected to be fair and neutral.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said it is wrong for the President, who himself is a candidate in the forthcoming elections, to be summoning the electoral umpire at will, especially when such meetings are populated by his appointees.

Without the representatives of other political parties attending such meetings, irrespective of whether or not it is aimed at briefing security chiefs on the preparations for the polls, the ruling PDP and its presidential candidate are seeking to gain undue advantage over others ahead of the elections.

It is like the referee in a football match meeting with key officials of one of the teams ahead of the match. This is against the spirit of transparency and fairness and must stop forthwith.

Had the representatives of other political parties, apart from the PDP (the President is the leader of the PDP), attended the meeting, the widespread speculations that Jegas life and job were threatened if he fails to drop the use of the card reader, as well as circulating reports that he will be removed before Saturday, would not have happened, it said.

APC said whatever briefings must be given by the INEC chairman on the elections must have in attendance the representatives of all the political parties that will participate in the elections.

It also decried clandestine meetings between some key members of the presidency and INEC officials with a view to rigging the elections, warning the presidency to steer clear of the electoral officials if indeed they are desirous of a free, fair, credible and peaceful elections.

Meanwhile, the party has said the Presidency and the PDP cannot and must not be allowed to profit from their sponsorship of ethnic militias, including MASSOB and OPC, to create chaos and violence before, during and after the elections.

It said the plot by the duo is to make the country so unsafe before the polls that members of the National Youth Service Corps, who are supposed to serve as electoral officials, will simply say they can no longer participate in the elections because they fear for their lives.
