Ill protect the interest of civil servants Ambode

Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode

The Lagos State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, has promised to come up with an attractive salary structure and leave bonus for civil servants in the state if elected into office.

Ambode made the pledge on Friday during an interactive session with permanent secretaries and directors, among other civil servants, at the Adeyemi Bero Hall in Alausa, Ikeja.

He said, In the new deal, both government and unions will seat down to agree on the salary structure and leave bonus arrangement most suitable to the generality of the workers. Also, a quarterly meeting between the governor and the civil servants is also part of the deal that will be designed to make the new dispensation cordial and truly rewarding to the Lagos State workforce.

Ambode also promised to create an avenue, whereby union leaders and civil servants would constantly meet with the government to deliberate on policy making.

He also used the occasion to clear the air on the issue of consolidated salary structure which had reportedly created controversies among civil servants in the state.

He said his government would ensure that the new salary structure met the expectations of the workers.

He said, No single individual, let alone the Accountant General, could have unilaterally changed or adjusted the salary structure of civil servants in the state from harmonised to consolidated salary structure.

While the former allowed for different promotional scales and a leave bonus that is paid at once in the month that an individual chooses to observe his or vacation, the latter has only two grading steps and has the leave bonus spread on the workers consolidated salary every month.

I assure you that things will change. Your leave bonus has always been paid and will continue to be paid. Issues of salary reviews will also be looked into. Cars and housing loans may not necessarily go round, but we will review it and ensure less bureaucracy for those who qualify to access them.

Progressives & truth

Hillary Clinton's news conference detailing her use of a private email account when she was secretary of State is another great opportunity for us to trust, but not verify. Why? Because progressive politicians always tell the truth. You do remember:

Bill Clinton I did not have sexual relations with that woman.

President Obama If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.

Mrs. Clinton I did not email any classified materials.

We do know one guy from the liberal camp who told the truth. Jonathan Gruber, the architect of ObamaCare, told the truth when he spoke about the stupidity of the American voter. Mrs. Clinton proves, contrary to political correctness, that there are stupid people.

Fayose planning to rig with fake policemen -APC

The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State has accusedGovernor Ayodele Fayose of sewing fake Police uniform for thugs to use them rig the forthcoming general elections.

Toachieve the plan, the opposition party said, thugs in police uniforms would be unleashed on the opposition to cripple mobilisation of voters and create fears in the minds of APC members to enable Peoples Democratic Party have a field day during the elections.

The APC alsoraised the alarm over alleged plan by the governor to arrest the party leaders before the March 28 presidential election.

A statement by its Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatubosun, said the party had discovered the governors plot to use trumped-up charges to incarcerate the leaders to cripple the partys mobilisation efforts for victory.

After it became clear that soldiers would not be allowed to be deployed for the polls, PDP leaders in Ekiti State have opted for the police. They have discovered that the fake army uniforms they sewed would be useless and they have started sewing police uniforms for their operation, Olatubosun explained.

He stated that the young men in six 18-seater buses allegedly brought into the state at night about three weeks ago with military uniforms in their luggage were still the same personnel PDP wanted to use for the operation.

But reacting, Fayoses Special Assistant on Information, Lanre Ogunsuyi, said the allegation was unfounded.

The APC is already conceding defeat before the elections proper. All their tricks are falling apart.

The allegation is preposterous. Nothing is working in their favour that is why they are concocting all these lies, he added.

Jonathan govt funding militias to disrupt polls APC

The All Progressives Congress has accused the President Goodluck Jonathans government of sponsoring ethnic militias to foment trouble before, during and after the forthcoming general elections.

It contends that N9bn reportedly paid out to some ex-militants and ethnic militias recently is aimed at mobilising them to scuttle the polls.

This was contained in a statement in Lagos on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

APC argued that the protests by members of the Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra last week, seeking the sacking of INEC Chairman, Attahiru Jega, was orchestrated by the federal administration as part of its continuing efforts to sabotage the elections.

It said the next group that had been mobilised to protest against Jega and the use of card reader was the Oodua Peoples Congress, which is also a beneficiary of the N9bn payout, ostensibly for pipeline protection, but in reality to prepare the ethnic militias for their reprehensible role in scuttling the elections.

APC alleged that more ethnic militias were to be enlisted by the Jonathan administration to continue the protest against Jega and the card reader, which it said was to give the impression that Nigerians want Jega sacked and were also against the use of card reader.

The party expressed sadness that a President, who inherited a united nation, had done everything he could to divide the country along ethnic and religious lines, including allegedly patronising ethnic militias, to champion sectional interests at the expense of national unity.

It wondered why Jonathan would pay N9bn to a handful of people at a time of great economic downturn and falling Naira, as well as in a situation in which many states could not even afford to pay their workers because of dwindling allocations from the federation account.

A profligate government that has been bribing people with dollars and ferrying huge funds around practically to buy votes has outdone itself by paying out all of N9bn to a few Nigerians, with less than three weeks to the elections.

Shortly after the payment, some self-serving groups started organising protests that, for all intents and purposes, are being orchestrated to scuttle the polls. This is a shameful show by the Federal Government, APC said.
