APC drags Jonathan, Obanikoro, Fayose others to ICC

Musiliu Obanikoro

The All Progressives Congress has asked the International Criminal Court in The Hague, to investigate President Goodluck Jonathan and eight others as regards an audio file which allegedly captured some Peoples Democratic Partys leaders giving orders to a military officer on how to rig the June 21, 2014 governorship election in Ekiti State in their favour.

Apart from Jonathan, others named as accused persons in the petition are Minister of State for Foreign Affairs II, Musiliu Obanikoro; Ekiti State governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose; former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Iyiola Omisore; and Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh,

Others are Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Kenneth Minimah, the Commanding Officer of the Nigerian Armys 32nd Artillery Brigade Commander, Akure, Ondo State, Brig. Gen. Aliyu Momoh; a member of the Federal House of Representatives, Abdulkareem; and the Minister of Police Affairs, Mr. Jelili Adesiyan.

A copy of the petition dated March 25, 2015, read in part, Essentially, the recording provides evidence of a clearly articulated strategy to militarise Ekiti and emasculate the opposition parties and their supporters as an approach to rigging the elections in favour of the PDP.

The meeting was attended by top Federal Government officials including two ministers responsible for the Armed Forces and Police. Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, who was then Minister of State for Defence, and Mr. Jelili Adesiyan, the serving Minister for Police Affairs, were senior government officials, who actively participated in the discussions.

A copy of the petition sighted by our correspondent on Thursday was said to have been submitted to the office of the ICC prosecutor, Ms. Fatou Bensouda.

It was submitted on behalf of the APC by a United Kingdom-based human rights lawyer, Mr. Olukunle Omojuwa.

An electronic mail containing an attachment of the petition, which was forwarded to our correspondent, showed that the same mail was originally sent to the information desk of the ICC prosecutor on Thursday.

Meanwhile, our correspondent contacted the Public Information Officer of the ICC, Florence Olara, on Thursday to confirm if the court had received the APCs petition,

Democrats and Progressives to hold rallies on April 25

Source: B92

BELGRADE -- The Serb Progressive Party (SNS) and the Democratic Party (DS) will hold two rallies on the same day - April 25.

The SNS and its supporters will gather in Novi Sad, where the party is in opposition in the provincial assembly of Vojvodina. The Democrats, meanwhile, who are in power in Vojvodina but in opposition on the state level, will rally in Belgrade.

The SNS made the announcement saying their desire was "not to divide the country," while the DS wants "citizens to declare themselves about the policy of the government."

"I am a little more responsible than some other people, I have no intention of dividing Serbia, although the ratio would be ten to one in the number of attendees. I do not want 30 of our buses meeting up with three of theirs. I want to protect Serbia from conflicts and divisions," said Prime Minister and SNS leader Aleksandar Vucic.

And while the Progressives wish to mark the first anniversary of coming to power with a rally in Vojvodina, the Democrats aim to "fight against dictatorship."

"It's somewhat unusual for a rally of self-support of the SNS and a celebration of the government to be organized in front of the government of Vojvodina. For that reason the DS will organize its rally in front of the (Serbian) government, where decisions about cutting salaries and pensions, taking out loans, gifting land... have been made for more than 1,000 days now," said DS official Aleksandra Jerkov.

Opinion polls show the SNS has ten times more supporters than the DS, and Faculty of Political Sciences Professor Zoran Stojiljkovic believes that the ruling party feels it is necessary to show it has a huge backing "despite everything, despite the difficult measures it is taking."

"For the DS, it is important to have the mobilization quantum, to bring its reserved voters to the streets and receive support from them," Stojiljkovic, said, and added that he considers these rallies to also be "a test of the electorate ahead of possible elections, although they have been neither announced nor planned - at least not for now."

PRISTINA -- Head of the Serbian List group in the Kosovo assembly Sasa Milosavljevic has said that 9 deputies from this list will not show up for today's sitting.

Buhari planning to send me to prison Patience

Mrs. Patience Jonathan | credits: news.naij.com

The wife of the President, Patience Jonathan, says the All Progressives Congress Presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) will send her to jail if he is elected.

In a manner typical of a prayer session, Patience, at the Peoples Democratic Party rally in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday, invoked the Holy ghost fire to consume PDPs opponents.

Patience also called on the crowd to vote for the PDP at the polls.

Patience, who had earlier entertained the crowd of supporters by dancing to household music tracks such as Kukere and Personally, said the Goodluck Jonathan-led government was a lover of women and youths in the country and should, therefore, be encouraged to continue.

She said, I want to warn you not to listen to the All Progressives Congress. The APC does not have materials to match what the PDP has on (the) ground. Their candidate was there in governance initially. What did he do? They only sent your fathers to prison.

They are planning to even send me to prison. Holy Ghost fire! Holy Ghost fire! Holy Ghost fire! They have nothing to offer. They only say I will, I will.

A train is moving and it has now got to Oyo State. When we talk about train, some of you may have not seen a train before now. The last time a train moved in this country was when I was small and in primary school.

When my children were small, they asked me what a train was. I had to take them to London and we entered a train from London to Paris. But the PDP government has brought this back to Nigeria. If you want to see train working today, you dont need to travel again.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Jumoke Akinjide, who spoke earlier, said Jonathan deserved to be re-elected because he gave women 35 per cent representation in his cabinet.
