APC creates platforms for donation to Buharis campaign

Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola

The All Progressives Congress on Tuesday inaugurated platforms which will make it possible for any Nigerian to contribute to the funds for the campaign of General Muhammadu Buhari and Prof. Yemi Osinbajos presidential ticket.

The Chairman of the Buhari/Osinbajo Fund-Raising Committee, Governor Babatunde Fashola, during the event at the Lagos House, Marina, said Buhari was keen on having a campaign fund-raising that would involve ordinary people and be transparent.

Fashola said, This project will be different from the ones that we are accustomed to. And this is part of the change that our party wishes to bring. This has been designed to give everyone the opportunity to participate in effecting that change.

We have seen the enthusiasm of young people to participate in this election, especially those who will be voting for the first time.

Fashola said the fund-raising committee had developed many platforms which would allow everybody to participate in the presidential election by contributing to the Buhari/Osinbajo campaign.

He said, There will be five payment platforms and no amount will be too small. The first is through bank payment. And five banks have been saddled with that responsibility. What the banks will do is to provide dedicated teller and it will have APCGMBPYO 2015 on it.

The second is through e-transaction through http://www.apcgmbpyo.org. As you make this donation, there will be record and I will do my best to acknowledge you through text messages or possibly by letters.

The committee chairman said the firms that the committee partnered with had no partisan affiliation with the APC.

It is important to emphasise the intolerant disposition of the ruling party to the opposition by informing the public that our partys domain name http://www.apc.com.ng which incidentally promotes the country, has been shut down by the Federal Government because they do not want us to use the internet to communicate.

Death-wish-for-Buhari advert: Jonathan violates non-violence pact

The All Progressives Congress has accused President Goodluck Jonathan of violating the non-violence pact, signed by him and other presidential candidates in Abuja on January 14th 2015.

It said violated the agreement by acceding to the incendiary, insensitive, reckless and provocative death-wish-for-Buhari advert, sponsored in his name by the zany Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, on Monday.

But for our partys ceaseless enlightenment of our members and supporters to shun violence of any kind even when provoked, and the peaceful disposition of the APC as a party, one can only imagine what could have happened in the wake of this demonic advert, laced with ethnic put-down and a morally-repugnant death wish for a fellow being, the party said in a statement in Lagos on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

We are therefore calling on all those who witnessed the signing of the pact, especially former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku, to take note of this very serious breach of the agreement and urgently caution President Jonathan and his party.

We are also calling on all Nigerians as well as security agencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria to take note of the political desperation of the PDP and its supporters, while warning that we will hold President Jonathan and his party responsible if anything untoward should happen to the APC presidential candidate, it said

The party argued that the unprecedentedly-provocative advert was not the first time that the President and his supporters had broken the Abuja Peace Accord.

Two days after the pact was signed, our partys office at Ngo community in the Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers, was bombed, the second of such incident in the state, by PDP thugs. Then our party members were attacked in Sokoto by PDP thugs aided and abetted by the police, while the PDP Governor of Kaduna State, Mukhtar Yero, has been inciting violence against the opposition in his state, the party said.

It said the fact that the perpetrators of those incidents got away with their actions without any censure from the President emboldened another die-hard supporter of the President to throw caution to the wind and embark on a course of action that had now exposed, the level of desperation by the President and his party ahead of next months polls..

Dont leave your campaign to warlords, APC tells Jonathan

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organization on Monday advised President Jonathan and the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, to take charge of their re-election campaign before their surrogates plunge Nigeria into anarchy.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Director of Media and Publicity of the campaign, Mallam Garba Shehu.

The campaign was reacting to a front page wrap-around cover advertisement on the Monday, 19th January, 2015, edition of some newspapers in which Nigerians were asked to choose between life and death, grouping General Buhari among former Nigerian leaders who were either killed or died of natural causes while in office.

The APC campaign said, This is the height of desperate tactics by the PDP, which is capable of degenerating into unnecessary bloodshed and destruction. They are choosing death for us. This is not politics. We are therefore, asking our supporters to stay calm and be law-abiding.

Even as a candidate, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has a duty to lead the country with responsibility up until May 29, when a new President will be inaugurated.

According to the statement, taken in its ordinary meaning, the APC alleged that the on-going campaign on Buharis health, using forged medical reports, and now suggestions of death are reeking of plots to eliminate him (Buhari) before or after he wins.

The statement warned that The whole world is watching and that if anything happens to General Muhammadu Buhari before, during or after the elections, under the pretext of X, Y, or Z, we shall be left with no option than to conclude that the PDP and their surrogates are to be held accountable.

The campaign appealed to all APC members and millions of supporters of Buhari across the country not to play into the hands of the PDP hatchet men to be provoked and thereby, giving them the much-needed excuse to abort this democracy before or after the elections.

Shehu said the APC campaign remains faithfully committed to the peace accord signed by the countrys political parties under the auspices of Ambassador Kofi Annan.

He, however, alleged that the PDP is paying lip service to this commitment by trying to stroke the embers of hate and smear campaign, which he said is inconsistent with the commitment to peace.

Fayose destroying our posters, planning attack -APC

January 20, 2015 by Kamarudeen Ogundele, Ado-Ekiti 27 Comments

The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State has accused Governor Ayodele Fayose of destroying posters of its presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), and other APC candidates for the 2015 general elections.

The party also alleged that the governor had recruited members of a faction of the Oodua Peoples Congress, through the leader of the Peoples democratic Party faction in the Assembly, Dele Olugbemi, to unleash attack on its members and secretariats in the state.

The APC had on Monday raised the alarm over alleged plan by leaders of the PDP to attack Buhari and his convoy when coming for the Saturday presidential campaign rally.

Addressing journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Taiwo Olatunbosun, said, Ekiti is in a political turmoil, crisis, hostility, pandemonium, harakiri, unrest, instability, and we believe all the security agencies will view it seriously.

Today, our candidates are finding it difficult to move freely on the streets of Ekiti. It is even a big issue for us to be in the office.

He recalled that the party had petitioned the National Security Adviser, security agencies, President Goodluck Jonathan and royal fathers on the ongoing violence in the state without any response.

He queried why the state government started removing campaign posters after Jonathan had visited the state for campaign.

Olatunbosun said, We have paid to signage (agency) the required fees. The first letter we got from them was after the campaign of their own presidential candidate. Before then, they never raised any issue. They have the record that we have paid to paste posters.

We are law abiding citizens, having met the condition, should they recruit members of the OPC to start removing our posters?

Our correspondent gathered that the youths marched to the front of the Sir Kashim Ibrahim (Government) House, and stood from a distance of about 100 metres away from the main gate, asking the incumbent governor, Mukhtar Yero, that it was time for him to pack.

They changi oyoyo, meaning, welcome change.

They said they were peaceful and assured residents that they should have no cause to worry as they marched through the streets in peacefully.

At the Stadium Roundabout, there was graffiti of change, change, change written on walls along the road.

The youths, in Hausa, said even if El-Rufai would demolish their houses after winning the election, they were ready to build another house.
