Dankwambos attack on APC despicable, barbaric -Party

The All Progressives Congress has strongly condemned the acts of intolerance by Gombe State Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, who has been working hard to obliterate the APC presence and also victimize the partys members in the state.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the Governors actions, when he visited Kashere, the hometown of his predecessor, Senator Danjuma Goje, on Thursday were despicable and barbaric, and should be condemned by all right thinking people.

During his visit, Dankwambo personally ordered the removal of all APC billboards and posters in the town, ordered the police and the army to break into Senator Gojes family house, where they broke down doors, teargassed and arrested his relations, including children.

The Governor also ordered the same security forces to break into the family house of Senator Gojes wife, where they similarly destroyed doors and teargassed the occupants, including the 90-year-old father of Senator Gojes wife and the Senators wifes 70-year-old stepmother, while all her sisters and brothers were arrested.

All those arrested, numbering over 50, are now being detained at the police headquarters in the state capital, Gombe, while the Governor has also ordered the arrest of anyone who tries to secure bail for those in detention. In Gombe town, the Governor has gone further to order the police to remove all APC billboards and posters in the town. In other words, as far as the Governor is concerned,it is a criminal offence for anyone to belong to the APC in his state.

This is intolerance of the highest order and negates the tenets of democracy. It is important for the Governors party, the PDP, which has been professing political tolerance, to call the emerging little dictator to order before he destroys the state in a fit of primaeval rage, it said.

The APC described as a cruel irony the fact that the PDP, which has been busy criticizing the APC for fielding an old man as a presidential candidate, is home to a man who was born in post-independent Nigeria but has chosen to behave like a 19th century emperor.

Ekiti APC lawmakers form parallel assembly

Embattled Speaker of the Ekiti State Assembly, Dr. Adewale Omirin,

The 19 All Progressives Congress members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly on Friday formed a parallel assembly at a secret location and suspended factional Speaker Dele Olugbemi and the six lawmakers loyal to him.

The APC lawmakers accused the seven Peoples Democratic Party lawmakers of violating Section 96 (1) of the 1999 Constitution.

Those suspended apart from Olugbemi are Mrs. Abeni Olayinka , Adeyinka Adeloye, Alexander Adeojo, Mr. Olowo Ajiboye, Mr. Dele Ajibola and Mrs. Ayo Olajide-Fatunbi

Olugbemi and the six lawmakers had purportedly impeached the state House of Assembly Speaker, Dr. Adewale Omirin, and his deputy, Taiwo Orisalade, on November 20, 2014.

At the plenary held at a secret location in Ado-Ekiti and presided over by Omirin, the APC lawmakers also nullified all legislative actions purportedly carried out by the Olugbemi-led Assembly.

The actions include the receipt and consideration of the 2015 budget; the dissolution and reconstitution of the caretaker committee members for the 16 local government areas and the confirmation of three commissioner-nominees and special advisers.

The plenary concluded that the purported impeachment of Omirin and the election of Olugbemi as House Speaker portrayed the Assembly in bad light, hence the need to suspend the seven lawmakers to save the integrity of the legislative chamber.

The Majority Leader, Churchill Adedipe, who moved the motion, claimed that the PDP lawmakers had consistently violated Section 96(1) of 1999 Constitution and House Standing Order in the last one month.

He alleged that the seven lawmakers gave false information to the public by accusing the 19 APC legislators of receiving bribes to impeach Governor Ayodele Fayose.

Udoedehe threatens to dump APC for PDP

The All Progressives Congress governorship aspirant in Akwa Ibom State, John Udoedehe, has threatened to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party if the former fails to cancel the result of its governorship primaries in the state.

Udoedehe said he would explore options to substantiate his calls for the cancellation of the APC governorship primary, but would dump the party for the PDP if it remained unfair to him.

Addressing journalists in Uyo on Thursday, Udoedehe said the defection of the former Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government, Mr. Umana Umana, from PDP to APC might destroy the latter.

He added that he had to walk away from the governorship primaries because he (Udoedehe) did not want a repeat of what happened in 2011.

Udoedehe said the APC constitution did not make provision for Option A4 which was used during the primaries that made Umana to emerge as the partys governorship candidate.

He said, I will pursue all internal mechanism to resolve the problem but if the party remains adamant to corruption and fraud, I will dump it for PDP.

I am not moving to PDP for now. It is not going to be a personal decision; many of our followers will meet and decide on a way forward for the interest of our group.

The way forward will mean moving to PDP and it will also mean that we have to choose between one evil and another evil.

I believe that APC has the ability to resolve internal crisis and Akwa Ibom State cannot be an exception. If the party decides to do otherwise, then I can take a decision.

He denied that he had been paid N500m by Governor Godswill Akpabio to move from APC to PDP, describing it as a speculation aimed at denting his image.

Osun aspirant asks APC panel to reject Omoworares candidacy

One of the senatorial aspirants of the All Progressives Congress in Osun East Senatorial District, Alhaji Sola Lawal, has petitioned the National Assembly Primaries Appeal Committee of the party, asking the panel to reject the victory of the serving Senator Babajide Omoworare.

Lawal made this request in a letter written to the panel, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Thursday.

In the alternative, the aggrieved aspirant asked the party to declare him the winner of the primary or order that a fresh primary be held to determine the winner.

Lawal, who is the Publicity Secretary of the APC in Ogun State, was said to have defeated Omowoare in the primary election held at the Government House, Osogbo, scoring 17 votes while Omoworare reportedly scored three.

According to Lawal, the same process for primary election, which produced Senator Sola Adeyeye in Osun Central and Alhaji Isiaka Adeleke in Osun West, produced him.

He said the upturning of his victory was an issue to be determined by the appeal panel.

The petition read, The supposed announcement of Senator Omoworare on the December 9, 2014 at Freedom Park, Osogbo, be nullified.

That I, Sola Lawal, should be declared as the candidate in the Osun East Senatorial District to run on the platform of APC in the 2015 general elections. Otherwise fresh constitutional primary should be held to determine who flies the flag of the party in Osun East.

I make bold to say that I am the elected candidate of the above-written senatorial district on the platform of our great party, the All Progressives Congress.

Modified primaries were held at the banquet hall of Government House on Wednesday the December 3, 2014 wherein I polled 17 votes; the incumbent, Senator Babajide Omoworare, three votes; Hon Kunle Adeniji, tw0 votes; Mrs Olusola Ibidapo-Obe, 0 vote; and Gbenga Awosode, 0 vote.
