Presidential aspirants to sign undertaking -Odigie-Oyegun

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has said all aspirants seeking the partys Presidential ticket will have to sign an undertaking during screening.

He said this while receiving the completed presidential expression of interest and nomination forms from Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, at the party headquarters in Abuja, on Friday.

Odigie-Oyegunexplained that all the aspirants are required to sign to faithfully implement the partys manifesto from the day they assume office.

He enjoined Kwankwwaso like all other aspirants on the partys platform, not to lose sight of the enormous challenges ahead.

Odigie-Oyegunsaid, Now we are faced with real economic crisis to add to it all. The APC is going to provide this nation with a steady hand, an experienced hand, a competent hand.

Those of you who have indicated interest in this very onerous responsibility, what you are going to take over from the PDP, is a nation that is virtually pulled to pieces in every aspect of human life.

I want to assure you that in my interaction with people is that we have people who will take this challenge head on, we have a manifesto which we are going to commit them to fatefully implementing.

As a matter of fact, at the screening which we also mentioned there will be an undertaking to be signed, that the manifesto of the party will be faithfully implemented.

He expressed confidence that the partys manifesto which is people oriented will improve the lot of Nigerians if carefully and faithfully implemented.

The APC, he said, has what it takes to make Nigeria a better place for all.

APC tackles Fayose over monarchs vehicles

The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State has faulted Governor Ayo Fayoses claim on the non-payment of vehicles bought for traditional rulers by the administration of former Governor Kayode Fayemi.

The party said the governors deliberate distortion of fact to deceive Ekiti people negated statesmanship.

Reacting to Fayoses claim that Fayemi bought cars for traditional rulers on credit, the APC State Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatubosun, said it was unfortunate that the governor had chosen lies and propaganda as a state policy.

He insisted that Fayemi paid for all the cars.

He said, The traditional rulers themselves can find out from the suppliers of the vehicles, Coscharis, if these vehicles were not fully paid for. Let Governor Fayose show to the whole world documents showing that the cars were not paid for. This is a challenge.

We understand his game plan by telling the traditional rulers that their cars have not been paid for. He is seeking an undeserved sympathy from them so that they can support his illegalities. It is a subtle blackmail and threat to the royal fathers so as to put them under his control just as he has desecrated the judiciary and violated the legislature.

It is also a ploy to misapply Ekiti money. He has collected so far N10bn refund on Federal Government roads and another N12bn ecological fund from the Federal Government. This is a total of N21bn in just one month and yet, he cannot pay workers salaries and we dont know on what projects he has spent this colossal sum on. For the second time in a decade, Ekiti people are in soup in the hands of one man.

He challenged the governor to publish the financial statement of the state for all to see like Fayemi did while in government.

Olatubosun added that for the second time in one month of Fayoses assumption of office, banks in the state closed down for business for the second day running for fear of attacks by armed robbers as the attack on banks had continued almost daily.

He identified the reduction in funds to security operatives and the increase in personal security vote of the governor as responsible for the upsurge in crime in the state.

APC berates IG for insulting Reps, contradicting spokesman

The All Progressives Congress has strongly condemned the Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, for saying he does not recognise Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal as the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

APC also slammed the Police chief for being economical with the truth in his defence of the real reasons the police invaded the National Assembly.

In a statement on Thursday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party noted that by refusing to recognise a Speaker, who was elected by members of the House of Representatives, and has neither been impeached by those who elected him nor removed by the Court, the police boss has thumbed his nose at the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The party said, As the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Tambuwal is the symbol of authority of the House and our countrys number four citizen. By saying he does not recognise him as the Speaker, the IG has also indicated he does not recognise the entire House of Representatives.

For a man, who was not elected by anybody to make this impertinent assertion about elected representatives of the people, is tantamount to treason. Mr. Abba has shunned all pretenses to neutrality, professionalism and decency and he is no longer fit to occupy the important office of the IG.

APC wondered at what stage the IG realised the issue involving the Speaker was sub judice, accusing the police boss of constituting himself into a court of law, which is the only body that is constitutionally empowered to make any pronouncement on the fate of the Speaker, and unilaterally withdrew the Speakers security detail.

The party said Nigerians were aware that Abba, by himself, could not have acted the way and manner he had done.

But the truth is that he is dancing to a drum of perfidy being beaten by his masters at the Aso Rock Villa. In the process, he has acted in contravention of his oath of office, the statement read.

APC accused the IG of turning the truth on its head by saying he barred the Speaker and other members of the House from entering the National Assembly because Governor (Rotimi) Amaechi and the APC were planning to invade the Assembly as well as the Aso Rock and the Police Headquarters.

The party added, Shortly after the incident, Police spokesman Emmanuel Ojukwu said the police acted the way it did because it got intelligence report that hoodlums and thugs were coming to invade the House.
