Fayose tells lie about Govt House cost APC

The All Progressives Congress has accused the Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, of telling lies about the cost of constructing the new Government House in Ado Ekiti.

The APC also said the governor lied about the cost of the beds in the governors lodge and the welfare of teachers in the state.

It accused Fayose of churning out lies to the public when he claimed his predecessor, Kayode Fayemi, spent N50m on beds in his and his wifes bedrooms at the Government House.

It said Fayose had been living and operating from the same Government House he said was too expensive.

But the Chief Press Secretary to Fayose, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, in his reaction on Sunday urged the people to ignore the allegation by the APC.

Adelusi said, It is a concocted lies for face saving. Having defrauded the state, they should keep quiet and stop disturbing the peace of the state.

They have looted the treasury of the state with their maladministration.

Adelusi denied that Fayose had started living in the new Governors lodge as alleged by the APC.

The governor is not living in the lodge. It is another lie. Our people should ignore them, he said.

Fayose had on Monday last week while administering oaths on the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government, Dr Mrs Modupe Alade; and some Special Assistants branded the N3.3bn Governors Lodge as ill-conceived project and a misplaced priority.

You lied about Govt House, APC tells Fayose

The All Progressives Congress has accused the Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, of telling lies about the cost of Government House, the beds and the welfare of teachers in the state.

It accused the Governor of churning out lies to the public when he claimed his predecessor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, spent a whooping N50m on beds in his and his wifes bedrooms at the newly built Ekiti State Government House.

Fayose, had also on last Monday while administering oaths on the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government, Dr Mrs Modupe Alade and other Special Assistants branded the N3.3bn worth Governors Lodge as ill-conceived project and a misplaced priority.

He said the building was too expensive for the state to maintain considering the level of poverty in the state.

Fayose berated Fayemi for spending such amount of money on a building when the masses were facing serious hardship and challenge of abject poverty added that it will cost a sum of N150m maintenance annually.

But the APC in a statement entitled, Fayoses season of lies by the State Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, on Sunday said Fayose had been churning out the lies to draw sympathy from the public and to discredit Fayemi who had done well.

It challenged Fayose to release independently verifiable documentary evidence to proof his claims because no bed in the lodge cost more than N2m, adding that the money spent on the government house was less than N2bn.

The party said, This is how Mr. Fayose lied about a non existent N50m bed in the Government House when he knows there is no bed that is costlier than N2m in that lodge. Governor Fayemi served Ekiti with diligence, candour and deprivation.

Mr. Fayose knows that he lied about the N3bn cost of the new Government House and a non existent N50m bed as no bed costs more than N2m in that lodge and we challenge him to release independently verifiable documentary evidence to proof us wrong.

He knows that the money spent on the government house is less than N2bn. Nobody could deny the fact that the government house is a legacy bequeathed by the Fayemi administration for the use of subsequent Governors.

Over 1000 APC officials, members in Abia defect to PDP

Over 1,000 officials and members of the opposition All Progressives Congressin Abia State, yesterday defected to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.

Some of the returnees include former Administrative Secretary of APC in the state, Chief Erondu Erondu; former Youth Leader, Vin Ume, former council chairman, women leaders among other chieftains .

Speaking when he led the decampees to the PDP secretariat in Umuhaia, an ex-APC chief, Egwuatu Egbulefu, noted that the in-fighting, deceit, and undemocratic manner in which APC is run leaves much to be desired, hence their decision to return to PDP.

He said,We unfortunately allowed ourselves to believe that we were working with progressives who had good plans and provisions for the people, but little did we know that we had joined a bandwagon of aggrieved politicians looking for a common platform to unburden their grief and self over-estimation.

He described APC as a party of sad, aggrieved and selfish persons who competed to outdo and undo each other, adding that going by the level of mischief appropriated by the leadership of APC it will be sinful for progressives to stay back with them in order to always lie against government to gain self recognition and pride.

The former APC chief pledged on behalf of other decampees, their loyalty to the leadership of PDP while appealing to others still wasting their useful time in APC to return home because PDP is better now than we left it.

He however, pleaded that waiver be granted to the returnees wishing to vie for any elective position in the 2015 polls, as well as fixing some of them with wealth of experiences to deserving positions in the PDP hierarchy.

John Elway backs Cory Gardner in Colorado as progressives target Denver Broncos fans

DENVER Former Denver Broncos quarterback John Elway is supporting Republican Rep. Cory Gardners Senate bid, but progressives opposing the congressman are hoping to win over some of the Broncos faithful.

ProgressNow Colorado hired a prop plane to fly an anti-Gardner message over Denver before Thursday nights home game against the San Diego Chargers. Activists also plan to hand out anti-Gardner materials during the game outside Sports Authority Field, according to a Thursday press release.

The last six polls show Mr. Gardner leading in his bid to unseat Democratic Sen. Mark Udall. A USA Today/Suffolk University poll released Wednesday found the Republican ahead by 46 to 37 percent. The statistics website FiveThirtyEight gives Mr. Gardner an 80 percent chance of winning the seat in Wednesdays update.

Mr. Elway, the Hall of Famer who now serves as Denver Broncos vice president of football operations, recently contributed $5,000 to Mr. Gardners Senate campaign, according to federal campaign-finance records.

ProgressNows angle is to compare Mr. Gardner to San Diego linebacker Manti Teo, who was the victim of a highly publicized online hoax in college involving a fake girlfriend. The slang term for creating a false online identity in order to lure someone into a romantic relationship is catfishing.

Colorado currently has our own catfishing scandal. U.S. Senate candidate Cory Gardner has created a fake persona of his own with the goal of duping Colorado voters into a romance at the ballot box, said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Amy Runyon-Harms in a statement.

The banner being flown says, Cory Gardner is Catfishing Colorado. In response, the Denver Posts Lynn Bartels quipped, In other words, Democrats are worried about all those polls showing Gardner ahead of Udall.

This isnt the first time football has made an appearance in the Colorado Senate race. The website Deadspin was forced to retract and apologize for a story last week that accused Mr. Gardner of lying about playing high school football. It turns out Mr. Gardner played for Yuma High School for three years.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Femi Falana, has criticised the All Progressives Congress presidential aspirant, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), for obtaining a loan of N27.5m to procure his partys expression of interest and nomination form for the 2015 presidential election.

He made this remark on Thursday in Abeokuta, Ogun State, while speaking at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Paramount FM Chapel Press Week.

He noted that the action of the former head of state was indefensible, stressing that it amounted to monetisation of politics.

He said, It is indefensible for Gen. Buhari to have obtained a loan facility of N27.5m just to obtain a form of intent to contest in the presidential election in 2015 under the All Progressives Congress.

Is he going to obtain another loan during his campaign, because in Nigeria, it costs billions of naira to run a presidential campaign?

Falana, who was the guest lecturer at the event, spoke on the topic: Current Security Challenges: Implication for 2015 Elections.

On the coverage of the 2015 election, the legal luminary advised journalists not to give undue advantage to any candidate, but should give all of them equal coverage, devoid of ethnic or religious colouration.

He also advised journalists to be wary of phony politicians who would want to play to the gallery, but should focus on issues.

He said, Journalists must show more than a passing interest on how those aspirants want to manage the economy. The government must address mass illiteracy, corruption and poverty.
