Rand Paul Says He Wanted To Strengthen The President’s …

The email hysteria continued today. First Matt Lauer asked Senator Rand Paul about the Hillary Clinton's email "scandal," and he essentially replied with the usual Randian response, we can't trust her, because she's a Clinton. Paul concluded, Hillary is basically saying,

Okay Rand, we can see clearly you are threatened by Hillary Clinton, but let's get to the real issue: The f$#%king letter! Mercifully, Hillary raised a legitimate concern that the Senators are so anti-Obama that they've become pro-nuclear Iran.

Matt Lauer brings up the "#47Traitors" letter he signed. He asked if he were President Rand Paul, would he like his negotiations undermined by a group of Senators. Generally, we allot either Paul (Rand or Ron) allowance of five minutes, where they seem reasonable, but then, the batsh*t crazy usually comes out. Today it only took two minutes.

Lauer asks,

So Senator Rand Paul, self-certified optometrist and "isolationist" replies,

Well I have also reiterated what the Constitution says, that the powers are separated, and when legislation is passed by Congress. Congress passed most of the sanctions, they can't be taken back without Congress passing new legislation. So I think this is a law no matter whether there is a letter, no matter whether the Corker Bill passes or not, I think the law is that the sanctions can only be removed by Congress and by reiterating that, we send a message that this has got to be a good deal.

Translation: if the President of the United States doesn't do what the current leader of Israel has demanded, we will throw a hissy fit and communicate in an unorthodox and dangerous manner, and we dare you to do something about it.

Unlike me, if I were President, I'd immediately seek a massive censure of the GOP Senator/traitors. Thankfully, our President Obama is a consummate chess player and he's planning his checkmate. We can hope that these clowns are eventually going to face serious consequences for their act of defiance. The world, once again, looks upon the GOP Senate with horror and disgust.

I'm sure it's very confusing for our allies that our Congress gave George W. Bush a blank check to conduct two illegal wars, yet they wish to impede the progress of finding a peaceful solution to nuclear armaments in Iran. *Facepalm*

Rand Paul: 'I don't think convenience should trump national security'

Sen. Rand Paul, Kentucky Republican, is calling for an independent investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clintons private email use as the countrys top diplomat, saying convenience should not trump national security.

I dont think the Clintons should be above the law, Mr. Paul said Tuesday evening on Fox News The Kelly File. She said part of the reason why she didnt obey the law was convenience, but I dont think convenience should trump national security.

Mr. Paul called for an independent investigation, asking: Can we trust Hillary Clinton to produce all of her email when we couldnt trust her to obey the law that she had to use a State Department email?

Addressing the situation Tuesday, Mrs. Clinton said the law did in fact allow her to keep a private email account and that she believed most of the emails were captured in official systems because recipients of the emails were typically on government accounts.

Her office said it was her practice to email State Department officials on their government accounts with the expectation that theyd be preserved in the departments system and that her usage of a personal account was widely known to the more than 100 Department and U.S. government workers she emailed.

The only way we get to the truth is by an independent investigation, and I do believe that public opinion can provoke that, so Im not giving up, Mr. Paul said. She was doing it in a secret fashion to keep them secret from the American public I dont think the American public should tolerate it.

Mr. Paul, a potential GOP presidential candidate in 2016 and frequent critic of Mrs. Clinton, the frontrunner on the Democratic side, also alluded to the recent controversy over the Clinton Foundations accepting donations from foreign countries.

I think theres a little bit of arrogance that some of these laws apply to some lower people but not to me; Im Hillary Clinton, he said. And I think the law nobody should be above the law in our land, and it doesnt look right that the Clintons were taking money from foreign governments. It doesnt look right that she has her emails on a server that is against the law, not a government server.

And there is a question: Can we now trust her, since she has shown maybe that shes not to be trusted, that shes going to let us know if she talked about anything that was classified? he continued. I think theres a whole host of possible conversations, from talking about her schedule to talking about any kind of worldwide events that I guarantee that the American public, if we tried to get that information, wed be told [its] classified.

Mrs. Clinton said there were no security breaches, and her office said classified material was not sent or received by her on the email address.

Bluegrass Poll: Kentuckians aren't keen to Rand Paul presidential bid

LEXINGTON, Ky, (WKYT) - As talk swirls about Sen. Rand Pauls possible presidential bid, a new Bluegrass Poll finds more likely Kentucky voters think he should bow out of politics rather than run for re-election or the presidency.

The poll conducted for WKYT-TV, the Lexington Herald-Leader, the Louisville Courier-Journal, and WHAS-TV found 30 percent of Kentuckians dont think Kentuckys junior senator should run for any political office in 2016.

Senator Paul has a lot on the line heading into 2016, and Kentuckians are giving him some mixed signals, WKYT political editor Bill Bryant said. Of course most of the 30 percent who say he shouldnt run for anything likely oppose his political stands and any candidate has that. But the other numbers dont give him much guidance because voters appear split when it comes to their desires for his options.

As Paul considers a 2016 presidential run, 19 percent of Kentuckians polled say they think he should make a run for the White House while 19 percent prefer for him to run re-election to the Senate. Under current state laws, he cant run for both offices which are up during the same election. However, 23 percent of those polled think he should be able to run for both simultaneously.

The Bluegrass Poll also found the overwhelming majority of likely voters do not support state lawmakers changing state laws to allow Paul an exception.

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is supporting Paul's effort to create a Kentucky presidential caucus in 2016, which would allow Paul to run for president and re-election to his Senate seat simultaneously. The caucus means Paul would not be on the ballot twice in the same election which is barred by Kentucky law.

McConnell was initially skeptical about the idea, but changed his mind after Paul told him it would be a one-time event and he would raise money to pay for it, according to a statement from McConnell's Chief of Staff Brian McGuire first reported by the Lexington Herald-Leader.

The move only affects the primary election. Paul would likely need a court order for the general election should he win the Republican presidential nomination.

Paul said he is likely to announce whether he'll run for president in 2016 sometime by the end of April.

Elected in 2010, Paul has been an outspoken critic in Washington on topics ranging from federal spending to health care.
