Are you job-ready for the changing times? – India Today

The Covid-19 induced economic crisis has further compounded the problem of unemployment in India. India which was already undergoing a phase of jobless growth has suddenly been pushed into a recession post-Covid.

According to the latest data by the Centre of Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), India's unemployment rate jumped to 9.90 per cent in the week ending December 13. This is a 23-week high. It is estimated that around 5.5 lakh jobs were lost in October alone.

Not only have job opportunities shrunk, the nature of jobs has also changed dramatically in the post-Covid world. Greater digitization of work spaces, major shift in buying behaviours and growth of digital services has engendered the need for multiple skills among employees.

From digital product management to data analysis and content marketing, the demand for basic as well as specialised digital skills has surged in recent months.

For thousands of people who lost their jobs or who have entered the job market after completing their education, a post-Covid environment is a difficult space. It is essential therefore that they study the market conditions, analyse the demand and upskill themselves for the current job market.

If you are one of those looking to start a career in a post-Covidenvironment, you may benefit from learning the following:

In a post pandemic world, a bulk of product and service marketing strategies have shifted to the digital mode. Targeted digital marketing strategies backed by effective data analysis isthe need of the hour.

Digital marketing knowledge includes a series of skills including digital business analysis, content marketing, SEO, among others. Increasingly, organizations are looking to hire people who have knowledge of digital marketing skills to help steer the online promotional and sales campaigns.

While many organizations are training and up-skilling their existing workforce in digital marketing skills, others are hiring new talent.

Evidently the demand for online digital marketing courses have surged in recent months. Adding a digital marketing course to your CV can make you extremely relevant to the current job market.

In a digital economy, data analysis is a useful strategy for organizations to better understand their market, predict and plan strategies accordingly.

The reports and predictive analysis prepared by data analysts help drive key decisions in business operations, product development and strategy.

A Data Analyst is another key specialty whose demand has surged in recent times.

Creativity is never out of fashion. It always pays to nurture the creative soul in you. In a crowded market space, an ability to creatively portray or depict your ideas and thoughts can set you significantly apart.

It is important therefore to constantly nurture your creative side. Creative communication skills, creative power point making skills and creative writing skills can help you find your own space in a difficult market.

Use your time to read, learn creative writing skills or photography to give your CV an edge.

Often a skill as elemental as an additional language can make a major difference to your resume. Learning a new language doesnt just add another ability to your skills, it also sharpens your mind and makes it more receptive to new ideas.

But, which language you should learn is also an important determinant. This decision would depend on your core area of work or field. Learn a language that might be useful for you in your field of work.

For example, if your area of work is likely to take you to a European country you must consider learning a European language.

On the other hand, if you are a north Indian looking to start a career down south, you must consider getting a hang of a southern Indian language.

Graphic designing is another key specialty that is high in demand. Graphic designers use visual enhancement softwares such as Illustrator, Photoshop etc. to create visual concepts and layouts that communicate effectively and captivate the viewers.

The Cobra Kai season 3 fight that required practice – Looper

The events ofCobraKaiseason 3 will send DanielLaRusso (Ralph Macchio) back to Okinawa, which means that he'll run into some old friends and enemies fromThe Karate Kid Part II.One of these returning characters is his deadly opponent Chozen Toguchi(Yuji Okumoto), which can only mean one thing a rematch of their "fight to the death" from the three-decade-old movie.

In an interview withEntertainment Weekly,Okumoto confirmed that the characters will indeed spend a significant portion of their shared screen time at each other's throats. What's more, it appears that things will be so complex that Macchio wanted to get together with Okumoto a week before the shooting began, just so they could really get on top of their dueling game.

"When we initially [reunited with Macchio] it was via a phone call, and he wanted the two of us to get together to rehearse the fight scene together," Okumoto revealed. "Because we had probably four significant fight scenes in that episode, so he wanted to bring me out about a week early to Atlanta to go over and rehearse the fights which at my age, that's a blessing." In fact,Okumoto even pulled his hamstring while shooting a scene, but he insisted in finishing the fight anyway.

Pandemic tested the ability to use data & guts more equitably: IT Industry experts – ETCIO.com

By Abhishek Sahu

The year 2020 has been momentous for our lives and hence as we usher in a fresh year in 2021, the expectations of IT organisations are very much different from how things have changed incrementally over the past few years.

According to Arun Dinakar Rao, Chief People Officer, Birlasoft, the workplace paradigm has seen a significant shift credit or critique to Covid-19. And this new workplace is there to stay! I believe that we would see more distributed workplaces with virtual teams working with leading-edge collaboration tools, he said.

Organisations would need to sharpen their technology backbone, productivity measurement frameworks and invest in enhanced cybersecurity measures, he said.

For Karthikeyan Natarajan, President & COO, Cyient, the impact of the turbulent 2020 on the management function is about bringing empathy with associates, customers, and at the same time customers looking at partners with similar graphs, and empathy in return.

He further said, I think it (pandemic) tested every walk of life in terms of your ability to make decisions faster, and your ability to use data and guts in a more equitable manner. It also led us to think about how we ensure that you balance the priorities between people and organisation.

Entire concept of performance management is likely to undergo a dynamic shift

With the world moving from a workstation to a WFH station, Ruth Aarthy Asha, Head - Human Resources and Business Partner, Maveric Systems, took the start of the pandemic as a period of great learning.

As we look towards the new year which hopefully will be post-Covid-19 dawn, we have been working towards a newer approach in preparing for the coming year. We continuously focus on the health and wellbeing of our associates, and as a result, looking for implementing workplace policies that will influence these initiatives, Asha said.

Technologies like Cloud, Blockchain, AI/ML will continue to be in demand, however, the ability to be self-directed, contribute via virtual teams and timely investment in physical and emotional wellness while striking a work-life balance will be considered paramount to thrive in these evolving times, he added.

Speaking of the must-have industry skills for 2021, Natarajan from Cyient said it's going to be about full-stack software development, being agile, and automation skills.

You may not see big large projects, but you should be able to really have the skills that can break the large projects into smaller chunks that you can execute in bit sizes. I think that could be a lot more in view in 2021, added Natarajan.

EduYear redefines and revolutionizes the outdated education system – Times of India

EduYear is an Ed-Tech Startup started with the aim of redefining and revolutionizing the outdated education system while bringing affordability and quality at the same place. At EduYear learning is made fun and interesting using creative teaching methodologies.Outdated Teaching MethodologiesIn this modern world where every sector is getting modernized with the latest equipment whether it is agriculture or small businesses run from home. The education system is the only sector that has seen the least number of changes and is still run using the decades-old learning system.Introducing a digital classroom alone does not change the way students are taught and are generally used on special occasions. The majority of the schools do not even have access to smart classes, or they lack the people with proper knowledge of using the smart class to its maximum capability.

It is high time now to change the teaching methods to cope up with the needs of every student. EduYear says that every student's brain is different and not every brain functions the same way therefore they focus on understanding the needs of every brain and adopt different methods to satisfy the needs. They have done market research and tested and applied different strategies to come up with the best solution.

Live Classes at EduYear

EduYear conducts live training on various subjects including Python, Data Science, Machine Learning, Java, Data Structures, Full Stack Web Development, and many more. The training varies in the number of days depending upon the requirements of the subject. The classes are taught live via qualified teachers trained by them. The classes are not taught traditionally but taught using new teaching methodologies which include creativity and more focus on practical knowledge. Using these methods EduYear has seen quite a growth in students understanding the concepts easily and much faster. EduYear provides affordable courses while maintaining the quality so that everyone can afford it and increase their skill set. Their main objective is to provide quality and affordable education to all.

Since the pandemic happened and people were forced to sit in their homes many looked at this as an opportunity and took online courses and learned new skills. This gave a major boost to all online course providers.

EduYear also provides 1 on 1 live training which is designed completely on the student's needs. The student can choose the subject or topic he wants to learn and the number of classes and timings. 1 on 1 concept is quite effective as many students suffer from social anxiety thus through 1 on 1 they can freely learn and be comfortable with the teacher. The teaching can be conducted at the pace student is comfortable and he does not have to be dependent on other students. This 1 on 1 training is getting quite popular among students and more and more students are selecting this option over the regular class.

EduYear Prime App

The current youth is moving towards OTT (Over The Top) apps. OTT apps give them the freedom to watch anything anytime. OTT apps provide a much more personalized experience. EduYear has also launched its app named EduYear Prime available on both Play Store and App Store free to download. These courses are available to watch on a subscription basis. The videos are pre-recorded lectures specially made and designed to tailor to the needs of the students.

The app is referred to by the students as the "Netflix of Education". Students can get a personalized experience as they can choose what they want to learn when they want to learn. Many students are unable to attend live training due to timing issues thus recorded lectures are a perfect way for them as they can watch them anytime and at their own pace. Even if some concept is not understood by the student he can re-watch the lecture any number of times.

While many OTT apps bringing distraction for the students, EduYear Prime is trying to make a difference and wanting to be recognized as the go-to OTT app of Education. It will help a lot of students as they will start to take more interest in building up their skills.
