Parents have admitted they are 'shocked and frightened' by some of the content they have viewed on apps and websites popular with their children.

In an NSPCC campaign,Mumsnet users were asked to reviewsocial networking sites used by young people and were 'shocked and frightened' by what they found.

Many voiced concerns over privacy settings on apps such asKik - an instant messaging service - while three quarters of parents found sexual, violent, or other inappropriate content on sites such as Sickipedia, Omegle, Deviant Art, and F My Life within half an hour of logging on.
