People are often shocked when I tell them I'm an introvert, especially since my job involves a lot of socializing and relationship building.

There are many misconceptions about introverts: We're shy, we don't like to socialize, we don't take risks. But that's not the case. I've built a successful publicity business that generated over $2 million this past year.

I'm proof that you don't need to be an extrovert to succeed. Here are three things I always do to look and feel more confident:

Introverts can be very self-critical. But rather than focusing on what I lack, I find confident through my strengths. I love taking personality assessments like the Myers-Briggs test to help me better understand where I shine.

My Myers-Briggs type is INFJ (Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Judging). I learned that INFJ's strengths lie in advancing causes and the people they believe in.

For me, this means helping others achieve their goals by bringing them together at retreats and networking events.

When I feel less confident, I turn to my "praise folder" that I created on my iPhone. I save screenshots of text messages, social comments and emails I receive from people thanking me. These positive words remind me that I'm good at my job.

I like wearing bright colors, too. Without saying a word, they naturally draw attention and help me step into the role of a more outgoing person when I need to be.

I'm never going to be comfortable around hundreds of people at once. I like to be thoughtful with my responses, and I sometimes struggle with big, fast-moving group conversations. But that's okay.

At networking events, I remind myself that I don't have to talk with everyone in the room. Going deep with two or three people is more meaningful than trying to make small talk with every person.

I also focus on quality over quantity when it comes to being creative. Unlike my extroverted peers, I'm not a content machine with new ideas to share every day. Instead, I create fewer pieces of strong, intentional posts on social media.

You'll never see me on my laptop at a co-working space, unless I'm there to socialize. I need ample alone time to feel my best. I love working quietly from my apartment with no distractions.

Being in meetings all day drains me as well. Some are necessary, but I've discovered a lot of helpful alternatives.

I use Loom, a video messaging platform, to share ideas and updates with my team. This has saved me over 100 hours in meetings. When colleagues want to meet to explore a collaboration, I might invite them to chat with me on Voxer, a walkie talkie app.

And I typically only do public talks or interviews once a year, or when I have a big launch coming up. After that, I retreat back into my introvert shell and focus on my business. That's what feels good to me, and it's helped me make millions while staying true to myself.

Former United States president Donald Trump on Friday wrote his first posts on his reinstated Facebook and YouTube accounts. The posts came more than two years after he was banned over the US Capitol insurrection. The Republican leader -- who is running for president again -- has been unable to post any content for his 34 million Facebook followers and 2.6 million YouTube subscribers.

Trump shared a 12-second video clip and said "I'M BACK," The clip appeared to show him giving his victory speech after winning the 2016 election, as he exclaimed: "Sorry to keep you waiting -- complicated business." The social media platforms banned Donald Trump days after the January 6, 2021 insurrection, when a mob of his supporters seeking to halt the certification of his election defeat to Joe Biden stormed the US Capitol in Washington.

He was sanctioned for posting content that the platforms said incited unrest, with YouTube announcing his reinstatement on Friday, two months after Facebook said it was unlocking his account. The 76-year-old had spent weeks falsely claiming that the presidential election was stolen from him, and he was subsequently impeached for inciting the riot, as reported by AFP.

"Starting today, the Donald J. Trump channel is no longer restricted and can upload new content," YouTube said in a statement, as quoted by the news agency AFP.

"We carefully evaluated the continued risk of real-world violence, while balancing the chance for voters to hear equally from major national candidates in the run up to an election." Earlier in January, Social networking giant Meta reinstated Trumps account on Facebook and Instagram with "new guardrails."

The former US Presidents Twitter account was also blocked following the riot. It has 87 million followers. After being banned from various social media platforms, he was left to communicate through Truth Social, where he has fewer than five million followers. In November 2023, Twitter CEO Elon Musk reinstated Trumps account. This move came days after he announced a fresh White House run, but he has yet to post.

Metas decision to reinstate Trumps social media accounts was applauded by The American Civil Liberties Union, which has filed more than 400 legal actions against him. "Like it or not, President Trump is one of the country's leading political figures and the public has a strong interest in hearing his speech," executive director Anthony Romero said in a statement, as quoted by AFP. "Indeed, some of Trump's most offensive social media posts ended up being critical evidence in lawsuits filed against him and his administration."

But advocacy groups such as Media Matters for America vehemently oppose allowing Trump to exploit the social networking reach of the Big Tech giants, AFP reported. Trump's victory in 2016 was credited partly to his leverage of social media and enormous digital reach.

AHMEDABAD: Exercise caution when putting up personal information and expanding your friends' list on social media accounts. Cybercriminals thriving on social networking websites have been gleaning information about their potential victims, mostly men in their 40s, from Facebook and coaxing them to share their WhatsApp numbers so they can be lured into sextortion traps. Gujarat police have, since early 2021, identified 14,481 accounts on Facebook and Instagram that were used by gangs for sextortion purposes in the state. Between January 2022 and February 1 this year, 2,382 complaints pertaining to sextortion calls were registered on helpline '1930'. These complaints are just the tip of the iceberg. There were many more victims and only a few have approached the helpline," said a senior CID crime official who is part of the cybercrime cell.In February alone, CID crime had requested Meta, Facebook's parent company, to remove 773 accounts. Of these, Meta responded to 663 requests while requests for other accounts are still being studied.According to police sources, these gangs lift photos of women from social media and create fake profiles on Instagram and Facebook to lure men. "A striking feature about such fake profiles is that they all have only male followers. Our cybercrime prevention team at the CID has been monitoring these fraudulent accounts," says Manish Bhankharia, inspector, cyber forensics and prevention, CID crime.He added, "Men in their 40s are usually the soft targets of the sextortion gangs for two basic reasons. Firstly, most are married, and they fear being shamed in front of their family members or society. Secondly, it is assumed that they have a good amount of savings and can afford the extortion amount. We have been repeatedly advising people to stop responding to the extortion threats and the gang will stop pursuing you."Initially, when the CID officials tracked the numbers used for extortion purposes, they found the same IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number linked to about 200 sim cards. This means, 200 different sim cards were used by one mobile device to make extortion calls.The gangs, which typically belong to Mewat, Bharatpur and Alwar, usually look up the victim's Facebook friends' list and study his posts and the interactions that follow. "They study the accounts of men and their circle of friends. This enables them to blackmail the victims as the extortion will involve taking names of their near and dear ones," said Bhankharia. He added, "These people have no other work except prying on social media accounts. The strike rate, however, is not more than eight to 10 victims a day."The extortion amount starts from Rs 5,000 and can escalate to as high as Rs 2.7 crore - as was the case with a 68-year-old businessman from the Navrangpura area who filed a complaint in January this year. The blackmail amount is boosted depending on the victim's response.B M Tank, DySP cyber cell, Gujarat CID (crime), said, "There is a social stigma attached to reporting sextortion cases. The victims don't come forward to register FIRs and it is because of this that the criminals get emboldened. Our cybercrime prevention team has been proactive in locating these gangs prowling on social media. However, curtailing this menace without public participation would be a Herculean task."
