On Saturday, BAFTA (the British Academy of Film and Television Arts) held its annual awards season tea party in Los Angeles, welcoming stars to the Maybourne Beverly Hills for an afternoon of celebration.

The Messenger was in attendance to scope the A-list scene, which took place on the rooftop of the hotel. Stars milled about enjoying the lush decor of red roses and candles, sampling tea sandwiches, as well as lobster tacos and wagyu tartare appetizers, pastries, champagne, and of course a full tea bar.

Among those present was Rosamund Pike, who shared laughs with Seth Rogan, discussed Tom Clancy novels with Paul Giamatti("You really got me into [the] books!" the Downton Abbey star enthused) and posed for a photo with Saltburn co-star Alison Oliver.

Pike kept her pink Dior sunglasses on for a mini-Saltburn reunion, sharing a big group hug with Emerald Fennel and Archie Madekwe.

Giamatti, meanwhile, had a Holdovers meet-up with Dominic Sessa, tapping his co-star on the shoulders proudly.

Rogan was in a jovial mood, joking with attendees and keeping everyone in stitches with his repertoire.

Oppenheimer's Emily Blunt and Cillian Murphy met on the red carpet with a long hug and a heartfelt "congratulations" from Murphy. Blunt also traded hugs with Daisy Jones & the Six's Sam Claflin, confessing to him that "it's a lot."

As for Claflin, he arrived with his girlfriend, model Cassie Amato. The two posed together for pictures on the carpet.

Barbie director Greta Gerwig was flooded on the carpet with well-wishers offering congratulations and letting her know how much they loved the blockbuster hit movie, to which she responded with a delighted thank you so much and lots of hugs.

Barbie star America Ferrera expressed joy when running into Eva Longoria, giving her a big hug. Longoria, for her part, was overjoyed to spot Gael Garca Bernal, letting out an excited scream when she saw the actor/producer. They posed for photos together, and chatted for several minutes in a circle.

Longoria also spent time with her Flamin' Hot star, Jesse Garcia, conversing and introducing him to new people, as well as rubbed elbows with Adrien Brody.

Derek Hough and Julianne Hough arrived together and expressed immediate shock at how packed the lobby of the Maybourne was. They both looked at each other and exclaimed "OMG," before Derek made his way to say hello and chat with Alfonso Ribeiro. Meanwhile, Julianne had a long chat with former president of STX, Sophie Watts, apparently about a new dance project.

Virgin Atlantic, which sponsored the event, offered up a playful change from the usual event formalities, encouraging attendees to throw bean bags and compete for a prize.

The Princess of Wales met a teenage boy and his childhood football coach at a surprise Christmas tea party which will form part of her televised carol service.

A video has been released showing Kate meeting 13-year-old Rico and Russell Gray, 70, and discussing how Mr Gray has helped by building Ricos confidence and allowing him to pursue his passion in football in Manchester.

The video will form part of the princesss televised carol service of the Together At Christmas event at Westminster Abbey, airing on Christmas Eve.

This year, the carol service focuses on the importance of early childhood and thanking those who are supporting the very youngest members of society during their early years, as part of the Shaping Us campaign.

The video shows Kate feature as part of a surprise Christmas tea party to celebrate the contribution people are making in shaping future generations.

In the footage, the princess asks Rico: Seeing and building this relationship with Mr Gray, has it helped you with your own relationships with your friends?

Rico replied: Its like, brought trust because if you can trust one person then you trust more people.

Mr Gray said: If you can teach them self reliance, responsibility, increase their self esteem, which football and teamwork does all that, then youve done a good job.

You should try and give something back and especially to children because thats where it all starts.

Kate hosted her Together At Christmas event earlier this month, welcoming her family, members of the monarchy and inspiring individuals in celebration of those supporting children and families.

The event will be broadcast on Christmas Eve on ITV1, as part of the special programme, Royal Carols: Together At Christmas.

It will feature additional material including films emphasising the importance of early childhood and contributions from celebrities such as Rio and Kate Ferdinand and Dame Sheila Hancock.

In a video message introducing the televised carol service, Kate will deliver a heartfelt thanks to all those helping babies and young children feel safe, valued and loved.

Kate was joined at the carol service by her husband the Prince of Wales and their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Among the 1,500 guests were midwives, nursery teachers and baby bank volunteers.

The highlight of the show was a poignant musical tribute paid to John Lennon and George Michael, with the concert held 43 years to the day the former Beatle was shot dead on December 8 1980.

Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jacob Collier played Wham!s hit Last Christmas on Lennons upright piano, which was owned by the groups singer and later solo star George Michael, loaned by his estate.

Broadcaster Roman Kemp, the son of Spandau Ballet bassist Martin Kemp and former Wham! backing singer Shirlie Kemp, introduced Collier and talked about the role George Michael, who was his godfather, played in his life.

During the concert, Oscar winner Jim Broadbent read an extract from Letters From Father Christmas by Lord Of The Rings author JRR Tolkien, and singers Beverley Knight and Adam Lambert performed.

Royal Carols: Together At Christmas will screen at 7.45pm on ITV1 and ITVX on Christmas Eve.

Its been a big couple of days for the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum. Last week, they celebrated the 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, complete with an hours-long reenactment of the events surrounding the storied protest.

And this week, the ships played host to a family from the other side of the country as part of a teenage boys Make-A-Wish experience.

Whenever I hear that a Make-A-Wish family has requested that the museum be part of their wish, Im awed andinspired and it makes what we do here even more special, Operations Manager Ted Galo said in a press release from Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Make-A-Wish recipient Benjamin O., 19, and his parents traveled from their home in Washington state to visit Boston and the museum. The organization said Benjamin, who has cystic fibrosis, is a big fan of American history, genealogy, archeology, and historic city designs.

He can trace his maternal ancestors to the Mayflower and the Boston Tea Party and has distant relatives who were neighbors of Paul Revere, so he wished to travel from his hometown of Everett in Washington state to Boston to explore historic sites, Make-A-Wish said in the release.

The family spent several days in Boston, the organization said. They attended the 250th anniversary celebration of the Boston Tea Party on Friday as special guests and visited sites along the Freedom Trail, the North End, and several museums in the city. They also visited the site of a family ancestors home.

My mother has a book of family history that includes early Boston settlers in the 1600s and includes the stories of working the shipyards, fighting in the American Revolution, and participating in the formation of the new nation, Benjamin said.

Then on Tuesday, Benjamin and his family got a VIP tour of the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum before heading home.

Each day at the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum, we work to make history fun and bring a smile to all of our guests faces, Galo said. We have been involved with a half dozen or more of these wishes and each time everyone at the museum is excited to help out and be part of the special moments, from our actors to our gift shop and the staff of Abigails Tea Room. It means a lot to us all.
