Summer 2024 Is Officially Dinner Party Season, According to Pinterest – Real Simple

If we could share only one stat from the newly released Pinterest Summer 2024 Trend Report, it would be that searches for the term dinner party have increased 6,000% over the last year. From elegant tea parties and dazzling dinner soirees to creative twists on your favorite summer foods, there is something crave-worthy for everyone.

As the weather heats up, get inspired with these intimate yet thoughtful entertaining ideas and pair those with new ways to eat and drink some classics. Were diving into all the viral food and entertaining summer staples, according to Pinterest users like you.

Who doesnt love a fancy (or silly) themed dinner party? The most popular dinner party themes for Pinterest users this summer are Greek, Chinese, coastal, fairy, and vintage. The first three themes are relatively straightforward, where you can serve a specific type of cuisine. Get more creative with the last two and encourage your guests to wear costumes that pair with some sparkly or antique party decor.

Bridgerton is back and so is our fascination with all things high tea and floral-related. Its no surprise, then, that searches for Bridgerton tea party have increased 430%, and related searches, like high tea food ideas and floral tea party, have seen a similar uptick. If you want to take your elegant entertaining into the evening, mix in some Bridgerton-inspired cocktails.

Most people need their morning cup of coffee, regardless of how hot it is outside. But, according to Pinterest users, tea may just be the new drink of choice. That means matcha milk tea and strawberry iced tea are becoming drinks of choice for tea parties and morning (or anytime) routines. Persian tea, coco milk tea, and lemon iced tea round out the flavors gaining popularity.

There are more ways to eat a mango than you might expect. For one, searches for mango floatsthe popular Filipino dessert with layers of ripe mangos, graham cracker crumbs, and whipped creamare up 3,700%. Then theres mango sago, a mango-based tapioca pudding, and mango chia seed pudding. People also want to try mango jelly and mango crepes this summer.

The internet has maximized how we eat avocados, going as far as turning this buttery soft produce into crisp avocado fries. Then theres avocado toast, but did you know people are baking avocado bread now? For sweeter ways to use fresh and frozen avocado, search for avocado desserts, avocado shakes, and avocado ice cream.

If you have perfected your sourdough starter technique, youll love these fresh takes on how to use it. Notably, searches for sourdough bagels are up 300%, but thats not nearly the most creative idea Pinterest users are pinning. Chocolate sourdough, sourdough tortillas, sourdough croutons, and cinnamon raisin sourdough bread made the list, too.

The ‘Green Tea Party’? – The Week

The Tea Party movement is veering toward the "hard libertarian right" with their angry rejection of taxes and big government spending, says Thomas Friedman in The New York Times. But if the protesters really want to change things, they should aim stir up the nation's "radical center." How? By going green, and making it their mission to end America's dependence on foreign oil. Here's an excerpt:

"I've been trying to understand the Tea Party Movement. Sounds like a lot of angry people who want to get the government out of their lives and cut both taxes and the deficit. Nothing wrong with that although one does wonder where they were in the Bush years. Never mind. Im sure like all such protest movements the Tea Partiers will get their 10 to 20 percent of the vote. But should the Tea Partiers actually aspire to break out of that range, attract lots of young people and become something more than just entertainment for Fox News, I have a suggestion:

Become the Green Tea Party.

I'd be happy to design the T-shirt logo and write the manifesto. The logo is easy. It would show young Americans throwing barrels of oil imported from Venezuela and Saudi Arabia into Boston Harbor."

Fun for kids, youth and families at 62nd Oak Bay Tea Party – Saanich News

Organizers say there are additional free activities this year, plus new midway thrills

Its promised to be a fun year for kids at the Oak Bay Tea Party at Willows Beach.

Additional free activities and attractions for children have been added to the event list this year. Among them, a Frisbee and hula hoop demo on the beach, a Victoria Symphony petting zoo and the return of the Kids Craft Centre.

The society wanted to have something in place for parents, said Sandy Germain, chair. Because lets face it, most events, if youve got two or three children, can be a little expensive.

On Sunday between noon and 4 p.m., the Victoria Symphony petting zoo allows children to try out different musical instruments. Its meant to be a fun and relaxing way to spark interest in music.

Apart from free activities, there will be the usual midway, a favourite for all ages. Shooting Star Amusements owner Justin Wagner highlighted this years brand new 2024 gondola wheel, the Star Wheel, which holds 40 people. From up there, youll have a beautiful view of the ocean.

Additional fun includes games, carnival food, a duck pond, a kids roller coaster, bouncy castles, zero gravity, bumper cars and a total of 18 rides and attractions.

Not only is there fun for youth, but youth also play a large role in the festival as volunteers including as operators of the Kids Craft Centre.

[Last year], they turned it into an amazing, amazing thing. They had kids making Fathers Day cards, and at the end of the weekend, they let me know everything they wanted for this year, Germain said.

The Girl Guides, who are fundraising for planned trips, have been assisting in the Tea Tent since as long as Germain can remember.

Since Ive been involved, so were talking 27 years.

Then at the bike valet, the same group of students from Glenlyon Norfolk School have been volunteering since they were in Grade 7.

Now theyre graduating this year, Germain said.

On Friday of the festival, four young up-and-coming bands made up of high school students in the area will perform on the stage.

Its good for them an opportunity to be on stage and have an audience, Germain said.

In the annual events 62 years, Germain said historically the main thing for kids was mainly the amusement rides, but this year organizers are being especially intentional about bringing in new activities.

Weve evolved, she said. Its a family community event; its always been geared towards families. We just are seeing ways that we can enhance on whats there for kids.

The 2024 Oak Bay Tea Party runs May 31 to June 2, at Willows Beach. Learn more at oakbayteaparty.com.
