Ann Coulter Calls Government Shutdown ‘Magnificent’ and ‘Brilliant’ (Video)

Conservative political commentator and author Ann Coulter has come to the GOPs defense regarding their failed attempt to take down Obamacare and the resulting 16-day partial government shutdown.

The shutdown was so magnificent, run beautifully. Im so proud of these Republicans, and that is because they have branded the Republican party as the anti-Obamacare party, Coulter said in an interview with Fox News Sean Hannity on Monday.

She advised people to vote for more republicans like Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Mike Lee (R-Utah) so there could be more shutdowns and debt ceiling crises.

Coulter said she disagreed with those who said the shutdown should have lasted longer, saying the Republicans handled it well.

What is the point of banging your head against a wall? she said. They accomplished a lot. And it was brilliant how they played it.

While the GOP was praised by Coulter, recent polls reveal that public favorability ratings for the House Republicans over the shutdown reached all time lows.

A series of polls conducted by Public Policy Polling (PPP) showed that Democrats have a good chance of taking the House of Representatives in 2014 if present voter anger over the shutdown and the debt crisis persists.

Coulter also told Hannity that Obamacare was designed to fail so that single payer health care can replace it, which she says will be worse.

Coulter Rips The View Hosts for Claim Women Govern Better: ‘Bitchy’ and ‘Hysteria’ Are Female Traits

Conservative author Ann Coulter appeared on ABCs The View on Tuesday to promote her new book, Never Trust a Liberal Over Three Especially a Republican. She shocked the hosts after she shot down their claim that the government shutdown would have never occurred if the federal government was run by women. Coulter countered by saying that bitchy and hysteria are two words associated with women for a reason.

Youve never met a liberal you liked? Barbara Walters asked about her book. Coulter said that the headline for her book was not literally true, but it was a take off on a 1960s-era expression which advised young people to not trust adults.

A lot of the Republicans are being blamed for this 16-day government shutdown, Sherri Shepherd began. Whats youre take on that.

My gripe is with Republicans doing too much of the circular firing squad, Coulter replied. I have an idea: why dont you attack Democrats.

Guest host Alicia Menendez asked Coulter about the polling which showed Republicans are now deeply unpopular with the general public. Coulter dismissed those polls of only adults. She said that they were as relevant as her opinion on Dancing with the Stars a program she does not watch.

Half of all adults dont know what day Election Day is, she said. For people paying attention, [Sens.] Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Mike Lee (R-UT) are probably the two smartest senators.

I think its really energized Republicans, she added.

Jenny McCarthy asked Coulter about the consensus on The View panel, that there would not have been a shutdown if a woman ran the country. Coulter blasted this notion as having a faulty premise.

I think theres a reason why the words bitchy, and hysteria come from females, She said to the groans of The Views hosts.

Ann Coulter’s 5 most Ann Coulter-y Reddit AMA answers

Reddit and Ann Coulter: a match made in heaven?

In service of hawking a new book, the right-wing humorist and pundit agreed on Monday to participate in a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) and duke it out with Reddits notoriously fearless community. As anyone familiar with Coulter and Reddit would guess, the results were interesting and often incendiary.

With that in mind, here are the five most Ann Coulter-y answers of this profoundly Ann Coulter-y event.

1. Ann Coulter on racial politics

Redditor question:Ann, in arecent op-ed article discussing the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman incident, you saidPerhaps, someday, blacks will win the right to be treated like volitional human beings. But not yet. Can you please expand on this? Do you consider Black people to be sub-human? Do you believe that the 13th Amendment should be repealed? Im very curious.

Coulters answer: If you have a line from the column, then you read the whole column, so you know perfectly well I was issuing a complaint about how liberals treat black people. (A brief summary: for the first century of the nations existence, the Democrats refused to treat blacks like human beings, for the 2d half the Democrats refused to treat them like adults.)

2. Ann Coulter on the media

Redditor question:How do you think the media handles violence?

Coulters answer: They run like the girls that they are.

3. Ann Coulter on the womens vote

‘I Mostly Oppose Gay Divorce’: Highlights From Ann Coulter’s Reddit AMA

Firebrand conservative columnist Ann Coulter is probably one of the last people youd expect to host a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) session. But in the midst of a tour promoting her latest book, she came through with one on Monday afternoon.

For those whove read our interview with her, youll already be familiar with the more substantive answers she gave the Reddit community in regards to her book topics, the future of the GOP, and the media. But below are some of the funnier highlights from moments in which Coulter and/or her audience attempted to troll one another.

At the beginning of the session, Coulter took on a pair of adversarial questions: One asking whether she viewed black people as sub-human based on a sarcastic line from a recent column; the other calling her out for purposefully insulting people:

Coulters response? She trolled the questioner by copying and pasting their question with a twist:

Another questioner asked her point-blank why she opposes gay marriage. Coulters terse response:

Coulter also took to poking fun at a Reddit user who was getting impatient with her slow start time:

Ann Coulter’s Reddit AMA Was the Healthcare.gov of AMAs

At least Ann Coulter didn't just want to talk about Rampart. The conservative lightning rod took to Reddit on Monday to answer some questions, and, uh, it was a bit rough. Before Coulter even managed to successfully sign into her account, she'd already started comparing the entire site which millions of users log onto every day without an issue to Obamacare.

Coulter's comparison of her experience to the troubled Healthcare.gov site is apt, but not for the reasons she might think. We're not sure of the exact chronology of events in Coulter's quest to sign up for health insurance answer a few questions on a long-running internet forum, but here are the results: Ann Coulter's Reddit thread was posted under the userann_coulter1, who has answered zero questions, and is apparently the account Coulter failed to log in to earlier for reasons that are not entirely clear. Eventually, Coulter began answering questions on that thread from a second account,AnnCoulter_, which posted a second, abandoned, attempt to start an AMA in the wrong section of Reddit. That abandoned thread is titled "IamA n author AMA!" To make things even worse, Redditors "downvoted" many of her more combative answers so hard that they were hidden from view on the thread itself meaning the only way to read what she said is to click through to her user profile, but not the one listed at the top of the thread, because that's the one she couldn't access.Got it?

Good. Let's move on to the actual answers. It will surprise no one that Coulter answered some pretty combative questions from liberals with some pretty combative answers. But Reddit isn't really a liberal utopia, so Coulter faced plenty of questions from conservatives, and those previously unfamiliar with her oeuvre, too. Those answers were...disappointing. Here are a few of her non-answers

Pretty much any good AMA contains some bit of trivia about the participant that you never knew. Coulter's AMA managed to have one of these moments anyway did you know that Coulter likes dogs better than people?
