FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Two stars from the conservative radio news stage will be speaking at the Grand Wayne Center Friday night.

Author and Fox News contributor, Ann Coulter, is joining Fox New Radio Host, Todd Starnes at the event.

Before heading to the Grand Wayne Center, Starnes stopped by the WOWO radio studio Friday morning hoping to get a good feel for listeners and what they're thinking.

Starnes told 21Alive "I'm really troubled by what I'm seeing out there, and the stories I'm covering and the stories that the folks from Fort Wayne are sending me about attacks on their religious liberties. So, we're gonna talk about that tonight."

The event with Starnes and Coulter begins at 8 p.m. at the Grand Wayne Center and it appears that some tickets are still available.

Controversial commentator comes to FW

Fort Wayne, Ind. (WANE) - - Hundreds of people packed the Grand Wayne Center to hear Ann Coulter speak Friday evening.

The conservative political commentator spoke to a group of people about the current state of politics in the country.

Even though the hot topic right now is Syria, Coulter only touched on it briefly. She said she didn't believe a Democrat should be Commander in Chief.

However, she spent more of her time talking about immigration reform, gun amnesty, gay marriage, and healthcare.

After she spoke, Coulter took questions from the audience, who traveled from all over Indiana to hear the speech.

One of the audience members asked Coulter if she thought the Republican Party would get back to how it was during the Reagan Administration.

She answered by saying the next GOP presidential candidate needs to be a senator or governor who has had experience winning a large election. She even said Governor Mike Pence could be a contender.

"I would say a governor or senator from a very large state, so who does that leave us with, well there's your governor," Coulter said.

The large majority of people there supported Coulter and her views and said she gave a good show.

"I'm kind of torn on the gay marriage and abortion issues," said Nancy Cronin, who came to the speech. "I'm kind of on both sides, but it's good to hear her side and what everybody else thinks."

Lightning rod Ann Coulter to visit city

FORT WAYNE The sponsor of her Friday appearance in Fort Wayne calls Ann Coulter one of Americas most outspoken women.

No stretch there. The conservative political commentator and author typically is described as outrageous and provocative. Coulter trades on her flamboyant, anything-goes persona, according to a 2010 profile by the New York Times.

Titles of her best-selling books have paired the word liberal with demonic, godless and treason. She referred to President Barack Obama as the retard in a tweet last year.

All of it has paid off for Coulter, 51, who for many years has occupied a national right-wing media stratum that includes Rush Limbaugh, Bill OReilly and Sean Hannity.

Coulter will appear at 8 p.m. Friday at Grand Wayne Center as the first speaker in the Northern Indiana Business & Life Masters Series sponsored by Fort Wayne radio station WOWO.

Coulter, who reportedly has homes in Palm Beach, Fla., New York City and Los Angeles, will be joined by Fox News analyst and commentator Todd Starnes.

About 600 tickets ranging from $25 for general admission to $150 for a dinner and meet and greet with Coulter have been sold for the event, according to Brian Sheikh, event coordinator for Federated Entertainment, a division of the company that owns WOWO.

Sheikh said about 80 people will attend the dinner. A VIP section near the stage, where 150 seats cost $50 each, has sold out. A bus carrying people to Grand Wayne from Mishawaka sold all of its 56 seats at $39 each.

Coulter will speak for about a half-hour, have a question-and-answer session with her audience and sign copies of her latest book, Mugged: Racial Demagoguery From the Seventies to Obama.

Sheikh said in an email he could not disclose Coulters appearance fee. Various media have reported in recent years that Coulter charges $20,000 or more for speeches.
