Just so you know, anyone can edit Wikipedia at any time. So of course, sometimes when sports fans get excited, upset or just want to be funny, theyll edit pages to reflect their own feelings.
Here are a few of those jokes, ranked from sort of funny to pretty darn funny. High marks are also awarded to anyone who is particularly original or cleverlike the person who listed Peyton Manning as the mayor of Omaha, Nebraska.
Emmanuel Sanders' Response to "Dead" Joke
To be clear, death jokes arent funny, but Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders response to this Wikipedia troll was.
Someone edited Sanders page after he took a pretty wicked hit at the hands of St. Louis Rams safety Rodney McLeod. McLeodlaid Sanders outduring a recent game between the Rams and Broncos, and Sanders had to leave the game with a concussion.
According to his Wikipedia page, Sanders died as a result of the hitwhich was obviously completely bogus and not funny. What was funny was Sanders reaction to all this. He has been tweeting photos to let people know hes alive and well, like this one:

Sometimes people arent so much joking with their Wikipedia edits as they are dreaming.

So much so that the Kremlin has decided to launch its own version of internet encyclopedia site Wikipedia in order to provide superior information about the motherland.
The open source website that has all but replaced the encyclopedias of the world has a page for pretty much everything. Seriously, it even has an entry for a once used legal strategy to avoid defamation lawsuits referred to as the small penis rule.
But despite Wikipedia having pages for practically every region and major city across Russias vast landscape, a statement from Vladimir Putins presidential library said that it was not capable of providing information about the country in a detailed or sufficient way.

Relations between Russia and its former cold war foe, the US, have been at a recent low since the downing of flight MH17 and this idea could be a deliberate move to shield Russia from what Putin sees as Western influence.
Putin has previously called the internet a CIA special project and has made a number of attempts to achieve greater control over internet content.
Just a few months ago bloggers with more than 3000 followers were forced to register with the mass media regulator and conform to strict rules.
And earlier in the year, Russia enacted a law that gave them the power to take down websites without explanation. Unsurprisingly, the Kremlin swiftly used the law to block the websites of its biggest critics.
