POLIS Immobilien rated A- by Feri EuroRating Services
Berlin, 04 Dezember 2013. Feri EuroRating Services AG has awarded POLIS Immobilien AG a corporate rating A-. This investment grade rating confirms the good creditworthiness of POLIS and the successful implementation of the company's long-term strategy. The corporate rating gives the company access to new sources of funding and will have a positive impact on funding terms.
Smaller companies are rarely rated. This is a special aspect for POLIS. 'The corporate rating will help us finance our growth strategy more flexibly,' says Dr. Alan Cadmus, CEO of POLIS. 'We can now use traditional mortgage loans at excellent terms for new acquisitions. Michael Piontek, Chief Financial Officer of POLIS, added: 'The good corporate rating from Feri is likely to be rewarded by the capital market. We have already had indications of interest in arranging capital market-based funding by our company.'
Feri EuroRating Services AG rates both corporates and corporate bonds and performs continuous rating surveillance. The agency's proprietary two-tier rating process, which is primarily aimed at mid-cap issuers, comprises the analysis and assessment of the issuer's market environment as well as the risk-opportunity profile of the market, which is compared with the strength-weakness profile of the issuer.

STRATEC - Significant progress with new development projects
Birkenfeld, December 5, 2013
STRATEC Biomedical AG (Frankfurt: SBS; Prime Standard, TecDAX) announces today that it has made significant progress with major development projects, including the execution of a second major agreement for 2013, and that further projects are in advanced stages of development and negotiation.
The trend predicted in numerous studies in recent years, namely that companies in the in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) industry will increasingly outsource instrumentation solutions to specialist development and production partners, is gaining further momentum for STRATEC. Having already agreed a major project with a customer in the first quarter of 2013, STRATEC has now signed a further contract with one of the leading players in the IVD industry. For both projects, development work has already been underway for some time. They are expected to make a significant contribution to STRATEC's sales performance from 2016 onwards and are therefore partly reflected in the company's current guidance. STRATEC thus continues to expect its sales for 2014 through to 2017 to show average annual growth of 8% to 12% based on 2013 sales figures.
Furthermore, the company has also reached an important milestone in the development of a higher-throughput analyzer system. Here, achievement of the acceptance criteria for validation systems - which are necessary for clinical trials - has been confirmed by the customer. This represents an important step on the way towards serial production, which is scheduled to begin in around twelve to 18 months.

‘Science’ is the word of the year
Look alive, selfie. Theres another word of the year thats not all about you.
While Oxford University Press, the British publisher of the Oxford dictionaries, declared those little smartphone self-portraits its winner last month, the folks at Merriam-Webster announced science on Tuesday.
Oxford tracked a huge jump in overall usage of selfie, but Merriam-Webster stuck primarily to look-ups on its website, recording a 176 percent increase for science when compared with last year.
The more we thought about it, the righter it seemed in that it does lurk behind a lot of big stories that we as a society are grappling with, whether its climate change or environmental regulation or whats in our textbooks, said John Morse, president and publisher of Merriam-Webster Inc., based in Springfield, Mass.
Science, he said, is connected to broad cultural oppositions science versus faith, for instance along with the power of observation and intuition, reason and ideology, evidence and tradition. Of particular note, to Merriam-Webster, anyway, is fallout from the October release of Malcolm Gladwells latest book, David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants.
Gladwell, a popularizer of scientific thought and research in best-sellers and The New Yorker magazine, takes on the challenges of obstacles and the nature of disabilities and setbacks in the book. But he leaves science itself according to some critics as a rhetorical device for his main mission of storytelling.
The tweets, blog posts and online commentary about the book yay and nay proliferated as Gladwell hit the road to promote it. Peter Sokolowski, a lexicographer and editor at large for Merriam-Webster, called the Gladwell dustup a symptom of where science stands today.
With the explosion of information and technology, are we all scientists?
