Neither were found guilty of the murder, but both will spend decades behind bars.

In June 2018, Canada was acquitted on the murder charge, while a jury could not reach a unanimous verdict for Mulazim. However, both were found guilty of robbing three people at a motel just days before Price was killed.

Canada was sentenced to 50 years in prison, while Mulazim was given a 60-year sentence. Jurors said the fact they were both persistent felony offenders contributed to those long sentences.

There is some concern that the sentences handed down on the robbery charge was reflected in fact the jury hung and was very close to not hanging on the murder charge, prosecutor Kimberly Baird said.

Lewis is expected to be tried again, possibly on different, lesser charges, early next year. a meeting between the defense and prosecution about the mistrial has already been set for January 22nd. Its highly unlikely that the prosecutors who tried the case will be a part of a possible retrial.

The Vetrano family appeared shocked as the judge declared a mistrial. The grueling, two-week trial featured crime scene photos of Karina Vetranos battered body, as well as the playing of Lewiss confessions, which Lewiss defense attorneys claimed were coerced.
